PS3 doesn't use the direct X api at all, no games console does apart from XBox..

It uses a version of Open GL ES.

Also the api has no effect on rendering, it's the hardware that produces the real end result.

Direct X is simply the software used to program the hardware.

It seems to that you don't know anything about DirectX and Crysis. If some wierd dots appear then it's your hardware or software problem and i don't care if your german(im estonian). There's no excuse for your poor knowledge or "bad english".

By the way... all the effects Crysis has, can be run with dx9. Assuming that your gpu is 8400gt then theres no doubt that you will encounter "some strange effects like small dots on the screen..." because your gpu can't handle Crysis on "very high".

NO you can't... People don't know what DX10 is lol... YOu can mod so that the very high settings are availble in dx9 so they're rendered in DX9 instead. That's not the same thing. You can run Crysis in DX10 and you can run it in DX9, two different renderings.

The reason DirectX 10 is better than DirectX 9 is very simple. DirectX 10 is much more flexible. DirectX 9 was set up with limits to certain types of video processing so that 1 thing could be using only 50% of your video cards power but it would be choppy because that was the max for that type of graphic to be processed. With DirectX 10 everything is set up to be able to use 100% of your video card's power. Also it uses ram if it runs out of memory on the card.

Realistic heads aren't hard to make considering things like 3D scanning and programs like ZBrush, and the texturing isn't hard, just applying a real picture to a model, can't get much more realistic that a 3D scan and actual hi-res photos. Then a bump map can just be created from the hi-res mesh. I don't know how this demo was done but I know it can be done with not much work.

Yeah I know, I'm a 3d modeller myself, and youre right, normal+bump mapping can be very fast. But think about the texture size. That alone is pretty good for realtime. And the shadow mapping phew! You have to admit it's impressive for realtime. Softest realtime shadows I've seen. And trust me, this demo couldn't be done with little work. The 3d alone isn't all. The programming of the render engine has to allocate data to certain processes and the likes.
