Pwnage tool is now available for iPod touch 1st gen, iPhone 1st gen and iPhone 3G. As of now, you are only able to jailbreak these. If you are in need of unlocking to use on another carrier other than you will have to wait until ultrasnow is released to unlock. They said it would be released today but they are still working some things out.

#1 GOLDEN RULE: If you are using a 3G iPhone with yellowsn0w and rely on yellowsn0w to obtain cellular service, then you should NOT use PwnageTool right now. UltraSn0w is not included with this release and therefore your baseband will be locked and unable to use an operator other than the official one it was bought for. UltraSn0w will be release via APT (cydia and icy) soon. If you have an original iPhone (1st generation) then 3.0 unlock works with this PwnageTool release.

Here's an update from the dev team.

As of Thursday morning we now have a workaround for #2. For #1, well try our best to get it fixed but we may end up releasing a preliminary jailbreak in which YouTube doesnt work for hacktivated devices, and then follow that up with a more complete jailbreak when we can.

Does jailbreaking an iPhone 3g also activate it? Say I am already running the iPhone with T-mobile, unlocked and jailbreaked by my dealer. If I were to jailbreak it with QuickPwn on Windows to version 3.0, would it be deactivated or would it be activated? (deactivated as in the emergency call screen) I'd like to know so I could know if I can jailbreak, then download ultrasn0w through Cydia and unlock, as if I have never done this before.

every time i have jailbroken i have the option of having it activated. there should be no difference with this jailbreak method.
