I've been to many countries in my life but most have been very similar. They've all been "Europeanised" in one form or another. France, Germany, even Canada.
But in Asia? That's the other side of the world. True there may have been European influence but to a lesser degree.
When I visited those other countries, it felt like variations on a theme. In somewhere like this it would feel like something new.

UK illegally took HK but on a good side, it made HK a big-world economy now UK got fucked themselves in the ass by China. I would really love to visit Hong Kong someday.As a girl growing up in Indiana,I have to say that one of my main wishes was to leave the state or country & see other places.I think that Hong Kong have some great history & I will love to learn about it.Every place have history, just like ever person has a story.Lets not argue & fight about what places are better because in the end you will all sound stupid.From France to Africa,to China & Japan,and even the U.S, it all have beautiful sides :)

I love Hong Kong and its people its always made me feel welcome and at home i am not british or chinese ,but i feel Hong kong has taken a slight side step in terms of where it belongs in chinas big sceme of things , its almost like China treats it like a test bed , and if it fails ,its Hongs Kongs fault , if it works China moves it to the main land and fuck Hong Kong, so i think Hong Kong needs to focus on it self after all the UK is gone and its on its owne pretty much.

I'm from Hong Kong and I actually embrace the British for making HK such a wonderful place, transforming from a 3rd world economy to a 1st world economy in just 30-40 years.
This is simply miraculous.
However, after the Chinese takeover, there are serious problems in HK: Income inequality worsened, poverty gap widened, over-reliance from the mainland, corporate-government collaboration...
Social disharmony and dissatisfaction grows.
I begin to miss the days the British ruled here...

BTW, Hong Kong belong to China and they gave us a right to sovereignty. and no way i want the British rule back and they are facing an economic downturn. and UK shouldn't tell us or we should run our country. Colonization in general isn't always good.

The harbor is so deep that huge oceanliners come very close to the city.
I didn't know that HK is special in this regard. I have not seen huge ships so close to shore elsewhere.
