I worked with 11 of these and I can say they didn't have to many problems. THe main man couldn't configure or didn't want to configure the sup modules .. he made cisco do it.

My point is have you even tried it recently? Maybe Nortel has a bad rep where you are? It does not in the UK - you even have Cisco Academies who chose Nortel for LAN due to the much better value. It's easy to say Nortel is crap but most people who do will be doing so having heard it elsewhere (hardly a solid basis) or oudated experience. Sorry if I get a bit precious about it, I just don't get thewhole Cisco cult thing.

Nortel 8600 kicks the ass out of the 6500 you seem to love - performance, resilience etc etc etc. If you want a badge, expensive prices, to waste money on OTT support on something that is supposed to be reliable etc etc then Cisco is the way sure. By hey don't worry you aint alone in your views - the pull of the dark side is strong.

LOL FYI I've used both. The Cisco web site is better. they have a better range & choice of partners & they have the breadth of portfolio but you would never accuse them of having the best technology. In the LAN my experience is Nortel is better, cheaper, faster,even more reliable with their SMLT functionality.But hey, you clearly are one of those closed minded Cisco biggots people talk about, so there is no point trying to reason or discuss the point with you.
