This, and its predecessor, Live at the Cafe Au GoGo, were among the first albums to define what was then the new rock and roll. And as a kid who grew up in Flushing Queens, I am proud to note that tyhey came from next-door Bayside.
Good morning, do you like sixties? Listen and pod cast my program " great sound of 60' s " on the site plumfm. Greeting and made blooper in rock and roll. Salut, vous aimez les sixties ? Ecoutez et podcatez mon émission "le super son des sixties" sur plum fm. Salut et faites gaffe au rock'n roll
Saw them in San Fran back in the day. Not true only NYers liked them, but typical of NYers to think so. Anyone remember the girl who danced and played tambourine with them? Anyone know the whereabouts of the Cheryl? Her surname was Anderson and Bob Lind wrote that song for her.
@charlosity they liked/like them in england too and hawaii acording to their manager sid bernstein [theres a guy in here that claims to be the dave clark fives ghost writer I guess they were just blokes with mod clothes if you look at the video because by kayla
@spacepatrolman Yep. The lead vocal melody sounds like a Mandrake-type tune, although I think the voice quality is not that similar to Randy's. This being said, a very astute observation, Spacepatrolman...
have the album, saw them perform many times.. It seems that only New Yorkers really knew their talent. Think of it. To me "flute thing" and 2 trains running" - u r right - a good comparison to cream but no just one Clapton. Magnificent talent
Saw them live at a college gig in the Bronx..It was a thrill to see Steve Katz, Roy Bloomfield and Al Kooper perform live, Haven't heard this song in decades. Thanks pulsar861 for the post! It's great to hear this song again!
@bartonone2005 It was called NET then steve katz performed a song on the great american dream machine on NET which had andy rooney before 60 minutes he seemed more radical then but he was doing the same thing .
A little better lead and song writing and they could have been an American Cream. Always loved this song. Didn't some of them end up in Blood, Sweat and Tears for awhile?
Kooper and Katz left to form BS&T; Kalb went on to a solo career (sort of); Kulberg and Blumenfeld picked up three other guys to replace them, including the brilliant electric violinist Richard Greene, then released one more LP as "the Blues Project," and then changed their name to "SeaTrain." The personnel on the last BP Verve LP, and the first ST Capitol LP, are identical.
Jut had this song pop into my head and here it is on YouTube. I love this, his voice, the guitar break. Great album, I have the cd. Flute Thing, Steve's Song, great stuff.
Haven't heard this in years and love it! Thanks for the post!

... great song ... but John Otways version (see which) is far better ...

that's a cool version, definitely points for giving it his own style but I'd say this version or Bob Lind's are still better

So did Adam Faith cover the BP? Or did the BP cover Adam Faith?
simonsbuddy 8 months ago
@simonsbuddy Adam Faith's version predated The Blues Project; however, both were covers of the Bob Lind original.
