  • I hate the startup sound. It's globby and stodgy, unlike mac/apple.

  • @aparr62 yo crazy i love da sound

    !!!!!!

  • the original Dwight Schrute.

  • <33333333

  • The creator of the Mac Start Up Sound and Sosumi, as well as the visionary for iTunes has a 3:00 appointment with Unemployment Insurance?

  • Did everyone at Apple wear perfectly round glasses?

  • An interview well done. Thanks guys, this was quality stuff.

  • I remember him being a very angry person. In interviews and stuff like that. Coding...

  • His face when he says "Are kinda crazy ppl"

  • I completely agree with you saying software engineering is an art. I am a programmer, and I make programs to explore them, just like an artist would with an art piece.

  • The interviewer sounds Dutch

  • At 18:53 it's a PC starting haha

  • In Jurassic Park they're running Unix workstations so I highly doubt that they made the Mac startup sound.

  • @stephaneiainscot unless they were running A/UX (apple unix).....

  • @alpar122555 Fair point... I just assumed they were running really high end SGI or Sun stuff from how 'tech' everything was in the film, but it could have been A/UX. Guess I need to watch it again. I just remember the annoying girl loudly proclaiming something like 'I know this! It's a Unix machine!'

  • Shitty speakers lol.

  • looks like a frog haha

  • this guy, looks like elton john...

  • I generally think macs are the most overrated thing in the world, but I love how no bullshit this guy is.

  • @NinjaRunningWild There's a quote of this guy talking about all the things he likes more than his mac. Like beverages, his lawn mower, candy bars.

  • @pingstery don't understand English? I think you mean DOESN'T understand English...? hehe... couldn't resist!

  • this guy is so professional

  • Wow, thanks for adding that audio cred. at the end for the game industry. I wasn't expecting that. However, I don't think Jobs would be the guy to talk to about it! lol

  • I can easily point out 75% of mac users if I saw them in public.

  • @Pingstery Trust me, the interviewer's English vocabulary is superb and speaks it fluently. The reason why he didn't ask much is because it's his style. Jim Reekes is obviously at ease talking so openly, so why interrupt?

  • Only reason the interviewer didn't talk much is probably because he don't understand english and asked pre set questions and just nodded.

  • A very nicely done interview. A joy to view and to listen to. One of the few examples where the focus was steadily on the person being interviewed -- which made it feel like an intimate interview. Great job!

  • Waar is dat HD dan? 480p is geen HD..

    Verder een goed interview :-)

  • start up sound - 13:20

  • Great interview. Great questions and you let him speak. You listened to him, and in return he told you everything. The best interviews are the one where you don't really notice the interviewer.

  • @putittogether I TOTALLY agree. Interviewers these days like their voice way too much. i really loved this! Great work!!

  • @putittogether Unless its politicians.. in which case its so much fun hearing them get screamed at to stop avoiding a question..

but for all other kinds of interview, I totally agree with you.

  • #thanks

  • thanks very much for the insight in the apple world back in the days-i think its very honest and i liked it

    thx for this time document

  • @ilovecrap So, did you waste 52 minutes, 46 seconds like I did, or did your right brain insist on wasting another 4 minutes, 25 seconds like others did? If Jim was going to say anything meaningful during the rest of the interview, my left brain refused to tune with it due to that disharmonious tritone "I refuse to calculate the tip anymore" comment of his. If there was anything else worth responding to, my left brain refused to process it after witnessing such arrogance ;-)

  • I am so glad Bill Gates is nothing like this.

  • @cooltd825 I don't get it. Why are you glad?

  • Big impact or a feint trail, we all leave indelible mark on humanity. I would say Jim left something to be remembered by. His candor is refreshing. And I think he makes a lot of sense, especially with regards to what iTunes has become. Sometimes you forget that even mighty Apple has internal systems that aren't as thorough as they could be. Yes, a lot of what Jim experienced was probably during Steve's absence but examples like the Finder's inconsistency in places shows Apple's work is not done.

  • anyone else think this guy looks like letterman?

  • this guy is arrogant. "Oh calculating the tip is just too much of a distraction from my creativity"

  • Click 13:30 to get to the juicy part

  • @mastgrr Thanks! The story of the startup chime was what I wanted.

  • He's a David Letterman look-alike

  • a fat headed, nerdy david letterman

  • DIGGED :) !!!

  • Did you hear that this is the edited version of the 57 minute vid? LOL!

  • wow, what an interesting man. i'd like to disengage my left brain too please.

  • The last 30 seconds are a little 'ouch!'

  • @Baldons a shame how those people who obviously have a skill and have proven this many times get into this position.

  • Great interview.

Seems like a really good guy.

  • feature creep i think he was looking for

  • so, anyway

  • Een erg leuk interview!

"én vertelt hij voor onze camera dat hij de gene is die iTunes bedacht heeft, zij het in 1995." Moet zijn 1996. :)

  • Thank you for the great interview.

  • It's also just great that he *snuck* the sound into the ROM, instead of getting the go-ahead from corporate. Would anyone even try pulling that off nowadays?

  • "Turd sandwich"? Awesome. This guy rocks.

So does the interviewer, nice accent man.
