Well some of it's always playback. There's too many overlaying tracks to replicate all of it live. But their keyboard player usually plays most of the lead parts and the guitar parts are always live as well.

I think trance should have depth & direction in the music, not just trow in some crappy melodies & some annoying vocal over a hard bassline. I think IM is just hard, for the sake of being hard, and they remind me more of a pop/dance-artist.

If you want good dark-trance, check out Russia & Sweden.

Kindzadza, Para-sence, Procs, Fungus Funk, Osom, Krumelur, Hux-Flux, Derango, Freaking.
