Just wish that Senna would have had that much protection : ( I miss the good 'ol days of F-1. When winning was through out the fearlessness of the driver and the chemistry between car and pilot. I just feel that nowadays there are so much rules, restrictions and computers gizmoz that it takes the glamour out of the sport.
wow he explained how scary it gets even though they have spun out many times in their career. he explained how these kinds of spins can get you some more gray hair. GRAY HAIR i can only imagine that.
When i brake in a go-kart and i feel it going away from me and spin 180 degrees, i get this terrifying heart sinking feeling........and then I see Mika spinning at 190 mph....holy cow i would've died from a heart attack:D.
it's amazing how in a split of a second he goes with the steering all the way to the left and then he realizes it's out of control he puts his hands away...
It's racing for gods sake. Ferrari fans should be happy for their rivals accident not mourn for their lost. The current Formula 1 sucks because the drivers are afraid to do everything they can to win. You receive a fucking penalty if you accidentally knock off your opponent while trying to hold your position. The reason why Schumacher pretty much holds every possible record is because hes doing everything he can to win. Pretty much like Senna was back at golden age of F1.
@kurwajegopierdolona where you can see the ferrari fans celebrating in this video?? and for real, if that happend to a race driver YOU are against, YOU would celebrate also.. i'm sure.
North americans don't care about the accents men. They don't acknowledge that kimi raikkonen has accent above the A and the O in his name. Just let it go you're correct.
Actually I don't think any English speaking countries use accents for names, regardless of their origins. It's not part of our language, so we don't know how to apply them. We don't shout at the mainlaind Europeans for not putting commars into 4 digit numbers.
@ROCKSOLID19 I think Ralf Schumacher at Indi has 2 of the hardest crashes in terms of the g-force. Not least because there was no spinning, gravel or decceleration to slow him down.
robert kubicas crash in 2007 at montreal is by far the biggest crash (of who someone has survived) in terms of g force. at the point of impact they said it was something like 60-70g!
75g I read, but that's not likely to be directly on the driver. One of Ralf's at Indi was 198mph (Kubicas 146mph), straight impact into a concrete wall - the G-force would have been a lot higher, but a lot less of the head rattling aftermath. David Purley crashed in Silverstone 1977 at 180g (and survived - but with multiple injuries) - The stopping distance was 110 mph to zero in half a meter. That's likely the biggest crash in F1 (if not motorsport) history.
Yikes. The 180g crash was 110mph to 0 in 26 inches... I assume Brack's would have been similar but from a faster speed, and with 21st century technology to protect him.
wow very intersting, but how long did that take you to work that out? infact how did u work that out? =) gotta give it to mikka though all of his crashes were big when he did fuck up
Probably Alex Wurz in testing at Paul Ricard, May 2005. Speed on impact with the wall at the Verriere corner was estimated at 321kph, and he walked away with only minor pain in his leg.
I saw Mika win at Indy. I bought a 60$ pen at the Williams booth then asked Ron Dennis 4 his sig after the race he just won. In the confusion he put my pen back in his pocket. I can see him later going,"how the hell did this Williams pen get here".
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
What was soo whhooooaaa and fucking amazing about that. Thats was a pussy crash. Oh no a tire blew and he spun into a wall going 57 mph. Seen much worse and much faster more deadly crashes. This guy got a lot of hype for nothing. Why isnt Earnardts car in a museum???
this cars safety saved the drivers life, its safety issues are on display, earnhardts car killed him, yeah great lets put a failure on show for all the gore freaks who wanna see earnhardts mobile coffin job, you sound bitter, petty and pathetic and also a little less bright too with this comment you posted
Earnhardt was killed by his refusal to wear the HANS devise, not the car. Had he been wearing one he almost certainly would have survived the crash, the safety cell of the car was largely intact afterwards.
quite right too, i do stand corrected, it was not the car but it was the driver, i still feel that earnhardts car is not a museum piece due to his untimely death inside it, we dont see senna or ronnie petersons cars they died driving in a musuem either, i think it is obvious why his car isnt in a museum and quite rightly so too, i would rather swee his winning cars than the one he died in and same with senna etc
Motorsport is dangerous and that is a tragic fact. When someone is killed in e.g. F1, like Senna and Ratzenberger in recent years, their tragic deaths have have paved way for new safety techniques and innovations in recent years. War is a great innovator and so is motorsport, and that is a cruel and tragic fact e.g. thousands of people got killed over the years for tyre blowouts on the roads and tracks of the world and that has driven progress in tyre, car and road design. Senna Legend!
apparently, Mika Hakkinen, if you bother to do any research, is one of Formula 1's fastest ever drivers. he has won 2 world titles back2back (1998, 1999). FORMULA 1 is the knife's point in motor racing. He is a fantastic driver that copes with the G-forces splendidly.
OK i dn't understand NASCAR and i dnt know who Earnardt is as i am from england, i dn't really understand it and i dn't criticise it. Motorsport is dangerous in all respects and that is that.
They've had Mika's Mclaren from this crash at the science museum for years, but there's a new exhibition there where they do have Alonso's 2007 Mclaren upside-down on the ceiling
you are idiot??? alonso from 2007???? look the formulas it looks much different not like in 2007 and alonso didnt ride with maclaren in 2007 and on car sides is write mika xD

Saw it on Sunday. Seems there's a little oil leaking onto the platform it' sitting on. Also saw the McLaren of Lewis Hamilton upside down in the Science Museum !
Hay, I saw it too. However, this was much longer ago than you two. I saw it about seven years ago. I'm suprised it's still there actually. You forogt to mention that the front wheels where slighty damaged aswell, and one of the rear tires was blown out, but thats it!
Thats nonsense to me, the maintenance costs of the long track where getting harder to pay.
The sponsors were losing interest and if they wanted to keep the track at all, they had to change drastically. I liked the old hockenheim better as well.
@JontieDesario hehe agreed :) It was a flat out high speed circuit with 40 or so laps in the race. The drivers really needed to concentrate because one mistake would be costly. I don't like the shorter hockenhimring circuit.
@FunkadelicMover I agree. i am not a fan of the rediesigned circuit. I thnk we all like to see the cars at top speed at least at 1 of the race tracks.
@panik808 the worst thing about the Hockenheim redesign is that they cut up the old circuit and planted trees in its place. So now the old track will never ever come back :(
Old Hockenheim ist history, half of the forest were cut down to create space for the new, micky-mouse like track.
I've once been to old Hockenheim, in 2001, these long forest straights were really impressive, each about a kilometer long. But they didn't redesign the track because of safety issues, it was just for the reason that they could build new grandstands for 50.000 spectators.
