C4C was a gigantic farce in the first place. When you consider all the raw materials it takes to make a new car, the environmental benefit is negligible. Especially considering these cars can't even be used for parts. This whole program was just a ploy to pander to all the environmental extremists that helped Obama get elected and make them feel like they did something helpful when in reality this was one of the most wasteful programs ever.
I am proud to say my family has 4 of what Obama calls "clunkers"... Out of the 5 cars we own. I have a 1995 F150 300 I6, my sister has a 2000 explorer V8 Eddie Bauer edition, my dad has a 2006 F150 V8, my brother has a 1983 Chevrolet C20 with a 350 V8, and my mom has a freestyle.
BTW if your poor or low income and are looking at these cars to buy.. your going to continue to be poor.. The GAS alone is going to kill you.. 14/20 an explorer gets.. 21 gal tank at 2 dollars a gal its 42 dollars a gal. 2.50 a gal its 52 dollars to fill this up.. your poor and your buying these cars???at that cost for fuel.. your crazy!! What is disgusting about C4C is that all of these cars that that are generally well-maintained and in good tune, getting decent fuel economy, are taken off the road while people like me who are lower-income and cannot afford a car payment for a $30,000 vehicle are stuck driving true clunkers. I drive a 1985 Ford Crown Vic that still gets 21 MPG on the highway, but has 237k miles on it, leaks power steering fluid, some oil, cats are shot, etc. I know it has to be polluting.
I work, I pay bills, I am not on welfare or such, I do without a lot of "extras" in life but I just cannot afford a new car payment. C4C needed more options. There would be a lot of logistics to work out I realize, but something that would have helped individuals instead of big business.... Something like I could trade in my car and get a voucher for $3500 or 4500, to use as I please to buy a new OR USED car, as long as that used car was much newer, in better shape, more efficient, etc.
So a big thank you to Obama... I'll keep driving my true clunker, polluting away, while all of these newer vehicles are scrapped all in favor of what?! (Supposedly) Saving the environment and bailing out the big business that ran America into the ground.

I drove by this Ford Dealer yesterday and MOST of the clunkers are gone. There are about 4-5 left but the parking lot is mostly empty.
