  • @jarand4 you have your own elevator?! Gosh, how some people live, aye? Joy ride - to steal a car, and drive it around.

  • very cool, my brother has been into techno in the earlt 00s iv always looked at this genre with a big lack of respect, safe to say people that listen to this music/band s well musicly educated ?

  • sounds like this saxphonist is flying a bit high!

  • @HDLone i totally agree with you and now im 15 just like you

  • Early house from 1989, great times.

  • 5:05 sounds like a shotgun LOL XD

  • The D.A. Garden theme from the Japanese/PAL version of Sonic CD is extremely similar to this.

  • @HDLone AGREED =D

  • This is acid house for sure, acid house had that trance sound to it as well as the always wet sounding Roland TB303

  • I just love the saxaphone

  • 1:39 sounds like sonic cd

  • @MrPotatoSack177

It sounds like Sonic CD because obviously someone in Sonic Team was a big 808 State fan. Listen to the boss theme in Sonic 2 for Game Gear.

  • @castlevania78 Which boss theme in sonic cd please tell me. What's game gear please explain?

  • @MrPotatoSack177

Listen to Cubik by 808 State and then listen to the boss theme from Sonic 2 on the Game Gear ( old sega portable). Obviously someone in Sonic Team was a fan.

  • @castlevania78 okey dokey then

  • @castlevania78 I just listened to it right now and ur right someone did base the boss theme on the cubik theme

  • sounds like a mix between 16 bit music and snes music

  • 0:24 sounds like thriller M. Jackson

  • Respond to this video... wicked track anyway!

  • @HDLone this tune was 1989 actually, so 80's lol!

  • @DJPeteJames Yep agree with ya there mate, quality ouse music is gone back underground and you really have to look hard to find it but its still there!!! kinda like back in '88-'89.

  • SONIC CD!!!!!!!!!!

  • proper tune mate! reminds me of gta san andreas ;)))) cheers

  • This reminds me of staying up all night trying to finish my bloody homework for school.

Great track to listen to in the wee hours of the morning. :D

  • It's a real shame that I wasn't able to see 808 state at London O2 recently as they chickened out, but that meant that I got to see 2 hours of the legendary Orb instead.

This track is just fantastic, great synth chords and that funky bassline plus the haunting sax solo. Great post!

@HDLone: there were some cracking tracks in the 90s, son. But plenty of dreck as well - luckily 808 State stand out from the crowd.

  • @HDLone You're not the only one mate. I'm 17 now and being around back then would've been awesome. The people around back then took part in something incredibly wondrous and special.

  • the nineties had the most inspiring of all dance music

  • @HDLone I hear you there. Im 16 and i think this is more futuristic and more inspiring than anything being produced today. People really expressed themselves in the 90s. I think talking to a wall would be more inspiring than talking to the teenagers of today

  • @Yazoku boring is it not

  • @mp3high Not as boring as your mom in bed ;)

  • HdLone... you my friend missed out big time.im 38 and DJ'd from 95-05.. my loft is home to some of the best ever dance music .I bought a MP3 turntable to convert vinyl to my Ipod.. i'll win the lottery soon so i have enough time to do this.07789761551 and i'll email you some classics.

  • Virgin Mobile used to have this as their 'sorry to keep you waiting' music back in the late nineties. Coolest thing I've ever heard whilst waiting for my call to be answered, almost didn't want them to answer my calls!

  • @korndiggitydogg unlike anny storry i have ever heard of, now that i think of it, i want this as my elevator music, i would joy ride the elevator all day! 8i have no idea what joy riding means, i am not englis i just asume it means taking a ride just for fun xD )

  • probably one of the best tunes ever..heard it 20 years ago..and have never once been bored of the 1000000000 times i've heard it play

  • @backtoo1989 groverider remix is nice as well but drags a bit in the middle

  • @HDLone You want to live your teenage years in the 90s?

Let me know if you do find a time machine.

  • @dhhs91

Just the thought of this moved me.

  • What's fidget house when it's at home kiddo????

  • this track deserves the title eargasmic

  • the defining sound of the 90's - Roland TR-909

  • It sounds so great, like so many songs I've heard from the British rave scene of the early 90's. I was born in 1991, and my first encounter with music must've been in 1994 or 1995, a time I can only vaguely remember. What sticks in my head though is some kind of sound, and the more I hear songs like these, I'm sure it was this sound.

Listening to records like these brings me back to a time I either wasn't even born, or I just was a little boy. It's still a familiar place in my head.

  • @WhenWorldsCollide91 good comment

  • some of you guys are only showing how ignorant you are. @ penguicold - most of the names you mention are not making great house, only loops that sound loud, save one or two more interesting tracks. I don't agree, and I don't think you can compare. On that hand I'd say Laurent Garnier and Richie Hawtin are very different artists, and Hawtin in the 90's was way ballsier. Recent music is neither better nor worse, it's just different, and often times more boring and less creative.

  • Anyone else think Sonic CD when they hear this?

  • @Thewoog34 definately sounds like this should be on Stardust Speedway Past

  • @HitmanJenkins1 No, DA garden.

  • @Thewoog34 DA Garden sounds alot like this, but i was saying that when i hear the song, i think it fits with SS Past

  • @Thewoog34 absolutely, dude. Thumbs up!

  • @Thewoog34 I'm surprised you didn't say "Grand Theft Auto San Andreas".

  • @Thewoog34 I think this song inspired Little Planet, the song that sounds like this in Sonic CD. That whole soundtrack was full of house music.

  • so love this extend to 30 mins please with sax

  • When even just the instrumental is awesome, you can feel the power of house music.

  • love this hate the remix version leave good music to the oldies lol

  • @HDLone Feel sorry for you mate. I'm just turning 40 and i remember every second of this era, lots of good bands and tunes kicking about. But at the same time i missed some of my fave bands in their time, like The Dooors.

  • @HDLone technically this song came out in 1989. but i agree with you anyway

  • saxophone + reverb = instant win. (laurent garnier\mark knight - man with the red face? paul rich\dubfire - split the line?). rainy-day-time-traveling.

  • @HDLone 808state is classic, but techno & house keeps getting better & better! I would never wish having to live in the 90s again on my worse enemy! Listen to AFX, Dubfire, Richie Hawtin\Plastikman, Mathew Jonson, Markus Homm.

  • @HDLone

i love you for saying that, i know exactly what you mean

  • Great - great tune from a fantastic era!!!! being born in 69 I've known 4 era's the nineties were ACE!!!!!!!! got to agree with the comments I'm reading here.....guys ya know where it's at....as for having a time machine & going back - if only!! I know ya shouldn't live in the past but you just can't help but look back with fond memories, everybody used to enjoy themselves more then - IT WAS SO MUCH MORE FUN!!!

  • @HDLone ...this was late 80's...so you'll still miss it LOL...

  • @TheBleech LOLAGE

  • @tempt8 Can still feel it in my veins :)

  • @HDLone me to :)

  • @HDLone Out of interest, why do you think today's music is crap? I tend to agree with you, I think at least 90% is crap but would like to know why from the perspective of someone your age. Cheers

  • @HDLone Hey, the music that you heard on the radio and TV in the 90's was crap for the most part too. There's good music being played out there now, played by good bands, but, your not going to hear it on the radio. Your going to have to look for it, just like we had to in the 90's.

  • Thanks Helene Ramos to intoduce this music to me,you are the best DJ .Lima-PERU.Nice memories from a past not too far away.Tomy.

  • the "House" name is being thrown around too much.

  • the smiths - hand in glove is the song you were looking for i believe.

  • PM Dawn sampled the tune for their song "I'll Be Waiting For You". Listen to it.

  • F*cking Bliss 90s ...

  • one of my favorite songs on gta thanks for loading it up its chill and fast at the same time thanks again

  • wait a minute who are these guys cause I never heared of them or this track but still nice music to relax to

  • Manchester band.

This was 1989 a true classic ~ unforgettable.

Then there was "In Yer Face" & "Cubik" ~ they did lots of other stuff too, but it's probably those 3 trax that they will be remembered for.

    Brings tears to my eyes.

  • acid house legends

  • I think this version is the one they used in Vice City i don't know whether i like this version or Pacific State better

  • Holy shit they use it in vice city? i thought they only use it in san andreas but i think thats "pacific" not pacific 202 anyway nice song but my favorites are pacific state and pacific 707 (which is considerated the original version of pacific) and thanks for the information ;)

  • how can they use this song in vice city? vice city is in 1986... and this song is released 1989

  • It wasn't in GTA 3:Vice City, it was in GTA 3:San Andreas which is set in 1992.

  • can anybody explain to me why they have a lot of versions of this song

    i like this

the original is just fucking faster

and pacific state it just chills the shit out of me :)

  • this is a pretty cool song, but i think that pacific 707 is way better than this one, this one has more of an acid house flavour.

  • 808 State are a bunch of thieving pussies. They stole this track from A Guy Called Gerald and didn't even credit him when they released it. Read up on it.

  • ...aaanndd where can we get said information from !?

This is all news to me !

  • Google it and you'll be able to read all about the lawsuits, etc. Gerald used to be part of 808 State and split off for unspecified creative differences.

The reels with an incomplete Pacific State that Gerald produced were taken by the remaining 808 State members, finished off and released with not a single credit to Gerald for laying the foundations of Pacific. Lawsuits ensued, etc.

Like I said, Google it if you want to know more.

  • Had this on cassette in the summer of 1990. It reminds me of being sat around the hotel pool in majorca listening to the tape on my yellow waterproof sony walkman with 2 earphone sockets so your mate could listen as well. When i think of this i can still feel the heat of the sun on my back..

  • You have just gave me goose pimples reading your message. im only 25 but fuck, i would love to of been there back in the day when dance was classic!! long live the old skool!

  • OH i remember this one

my old man used to play it in his mark 2 golf GTi when i was like 3 and he used to whistle it when he was workin, has stuck in my head for many years! and also a bit of GTA memory!

  • sweet stuff when you driving a s60 t5 :)

  • What's the different between Pasific State and Pasific 202?

Is Pasific 202 is just a faster version of Pasific State? I prefer Pasific 202, really makes me dance lol

  • There are many different versions varying slightly I think Pacific 707 is the original, and that's the one I like

  • 20 years old and it sounds like it was made yesterday. Awesome.

  • anybody knw the name of the song on the rise of the footsoldier when it shows essex in the morning and also the pier?

  • Capella - U got 2 Know ;)

  • adoro esta musica!!!!:)))))

já nao a ouvia há uns bons anos! tinha 12 anos qd ouvia esta musica simplesmente espectacular.... Uma experiencia musical muito bem conseguida. Raquel agora percebes porque sou alien

  • Energises yet chills you out at the same time. I love it and I love the fact that this sound came out of Manchester - where I live.

  • ( : Pacific 202 by 808 State.. says on the title.. : )

  • A great tune isn't it?

  • perfect ,very beautiful...:)))

  • Yeah, this song & house parties in Manchester & London.

E's courtesy of Stewardesses out of San Francisco!

  • I have this as my alarm tune, wake up every morning to it and I'm still not tired of listening to it.

  • Wow man what a coincidence. I have it as my alarm tune on my phone too! xD

  • no way !:D

This may be a longshot, but what phone model do you have?

    I have Nokia E51

  • Nice phone : )

    I got a Sony Ericsson W810i.

This is a great tune to wake up to in the morning don't you think? : )

And have you heard the Grooverider remix of Pacific State? It's a Chill Out Drum 'n' Bass I recommend it xD

  • I'm feelin some serious love for this song!

  • I love this track! One of my favorite Classic House tracks ever! I'm givin this a proper big 5* because this song is just beautiful. Cheers for makin this track,, 808 State!!! ) ) ) d(-_-)b ( ( ( Real chillin and relaxin to listen to xD

  • can we say its old school drumnbass please?^^;)

  • Well Drum 'n' Bass nd House music are two different genres. Old school DnB is fantastic nd actually better than the new shit these days. But what I would call this is Classic House because it's from the years House music was born and you could call it Old School Drum 'n' Bass if you wanted. Yea I see your point here ^.^

  • yes you re right i can hear out parts from dnb and house but i think it was the time where rave is split out to dnb and house so dnb and house doesn t realy exist...or am i wrong?

  • Well where you said "i can hear out parts from dnb,," isn't actually DnB. It's Classic House. DnB would be a little faster tempo and more drums. Rave is a dance party,, which plays electronic music and normally is a late night event. In my opinion,, rave parties nowadays have been mostly Hardcore music which,, in my opinion,, is a load of crap. With Hardcore it's all fake nothing is made with effort,, it's too fast as well. But I love Acid House (music like 808 state) and Chill Out/DnB

  • yes but in that time (round about 87-91) there wasn t really any house or DnB i ever heard rave from that time...so i thought its born out of rave...i never heard house, techno or hardcore only DnB and now i see that "old school DnB" is much nicer than DnB today (much more melodic)...but now i ever heard its hardcore, house or acid so what was the mothership all of that??

  • Well it's just that Dance music is evolving into something even worse and we need more Acid House,, Old School DnB,, DnB/Chill Out and then we would be back with the good times! xD

And I understand now on what you mean by Old School DnB,, you mean Acid House right? Other Artist's like 808 State? What I think on what you hear nowadays is the new age shitty Drum 'n' Bass and Hardcore where the tempo is too fast to dance to and all you have to do is bounce your head.

  • löl i google it up you right its acid house not DnB;)

    i see we agree

  • Yea lol,, it's great music. I think they should bring this type of Dance music back,, don't you agree?

  • yes that should be a great party...but in england you will have more luck as me in germany;)

  • Yea it would be an awesome party. A subwoofer sound system and high quality decks,, a large group of Acid/Progressive House and DnB/Chill Out Ravers (Old school style heheh ; ) ) in a beautiful beach prefferably at sunset evening or night and that would be the perfect House party! xD

  • And why not in Germany mate?

  • best on thailands beaches they are soo beautiful...the music came from england and london have the biggest scene i think

  • Comment removed

  • löl buy the flight tickets i will be thereXD

  • TUNE! Dem ah true tune

  • good on ye bootsamou LFC

  • This brings tears to my eyes.

I find it real emotional & atmospheric.

1989 was such a real happy year for me.

  • The saxophone makes the song.
