I have been thinking about this for trumpet but I heard that the mic mute was cheap and don't last. I am going to make one from high quality parts I already have.
Wow!!! That's a very good idea. I've just got myself a Silent Brass system for Trombone from the YAMAHA music store and it's really amazing. Nice works man. Keep it coming!!! Cheers!!!
the shape of the mute blocks the sound while the microphone inside picks up the sound an reroutes it through the headphones for you and no one else to hear. Without the head phones you hear nothing. This video is just him rerouting the sound to his computer, mixing it, and recording it
you can actually hear yourself playing without the headphones its just a lot buzzier and fuzzier, and quieter. however, people around you cant hear it unless they get pretty close
Wow I can hold out long tones too. Must be nice having a computer make you sound cool/good! Hopefully soon you can pick up a trombone that sounds like a guitar from your local Wal-Mart super center!
this sounds very nice ,,i am interested ,,,,can u explain how u did this with details

I would love to play on one of those trombones. It would be a great experience as a young trombonist.
Trombonist4Lyfe 3 years ago
An even better experience would be to play the normal horn. . .

true.
Chr452 3 years ago
it's a normal trombone... just with an attachment mute that can be used to add effects

Do they have one of these for trumpet? if they do does anyone know where to get one?
ftbllmn102 3 years ago
yes they do.
It's called a Yamaha Silent Brass.
however the ability to add effects is some techinical stuff you'd need other things for.

How well does the mute cancel the sound? I live in apartment and it's a pain with school and homework and such to get my practicing in by 7PM...
sounds cool, but I'd also like to hear you without you're fancy software, lol. Then I'll judge. good idea, however.
