  • @TheEpicLEMONpie I think it's just shredded cabbage and tomato-wedges. You get the shreds by using the grater to make cucumber slices.

  • I just made this a while ago, didn't turn out as good as yours but still edible xD, i don't think i cooked the meat long enough after i put the cooking white wine in because i can still taste the wine a bit. I'll practice this though :P took me foreverrrr to make

  • Hoku Hoku is an onamonapia - that`s the word you`re looking for ;-)

  • You talkin' to me? ( i just noticed the poster behind after watching this video for the 5th time.) :P

  • Hey guys, if you live in Tennessee, and live around Nashville, there's a store that sells Bulldog Sauce in a market called K & S World Market, almost everything Asian is there! I was amazed at the things they had there when I was in Tennessee for a while.

  • Until 2010 i tought japanese food was just raw fish. And I confess that I hate sushi and sashimi. But thanks to my sister I tasted yakisoba and I never had eaten something so good and still healthy. But, unfortunately, here in Brazil the japanese restaurants just serve sushi, sashimi and temaki :(

Thank you very much for making those videos, because now i can make this delicious food in my house :D

PS: Forgive me for my english!

  • Just made this.It is just a good as it looks.I had leftover pork so I chopped it up and used that. Also I placed some pepperjack cheese inside. Thanks so much.

  • so...hungry...

  • hey RunnySan can't find any basil leaf here =( what else can i use instead?

  • @snowy887 you don't need basil leaf you can use cabbage if lettuce but i recommend cabbage chop it into small pieces and it will taste great as well :)

  • You make it looks so easy and so fun!

  • i just made some man tht was yummy

  • Hi Runnyrunny! i just made this tonight and it came out beautiful and delicious. thanks so much for sharing!

  • THE CROQETTE WHEN UR SHAPING IT IT LOOKS LIKE POTATOS!! :)

  • Comment removed

  • you REALLY had my attention when you put that kind of cheese in it <3

  • y not peel the potato first then boil, that way its easier and how did you peel that potato, its steaming hot, do you have iron hands?

  • You know, we have the same dish here in Egypt,

but the difference is that we stuff the potatoes with the minced beef then fry them,

    sweeeeeeeet :D:D:D

  • wonderful video :D

  • If anyone could respond, that would be wonderful! I was wondering if it's okay if I just pan fry, not deep fry (uses less oil). I am planning on making them flat, not round lol So they would fry better :) Thank you ahead of time!!

  • @Bepbo it is possible to pan fry croquettes however when you cook them (and made them 'flat' there will still be uneven parts at some places) but because the croquette’s skin touches the bottom of the pan, the skin will tear when you flip them. (Which will make it very messy) The colour will also be very uneven but it is still edible :D

  • @pOckoChi Thanks for the response! :) I made them twice in a week like this, and a couple did have the "skin tearing" issue, but otherwise they turned out great! ^^ I just had to cook them very carefully. I like them this way because much less oil, but I am planning on making them round with meat and cheese like in the video :) <3

  • very nice with curry powder in the mixture too!!

  • "hoku" "hoku" "hoku"

  • I swear every video I watch for a Japanese recipe requires white wine. lol

  • can u make it without wine? im not of legal age

  • @itheanthony for white wine's in cooking, you just replace it with a diluted white wine vinegar, or some white grape juice diluted with white wine vinegar.

  • hahaha bulldog

  • I love how he tries to clarify. "It's not made of bulldog." xD

  • LOL the guy in the begginning XD

  • กระเพา ช้ะ !

  • Great video. Thank you~~~

  • you are awesome!

i just made some <3 even though no one was home to try. they were delicious!

    thank youu.

  • you always try to fit the food in you mouth, it just barely fit in. That's is a really fun looking expression. haha

  • Are those Panko bread crumbs?

  • you are just adorable (: !

  • Could you also bake the korokke instead of deep frying?

  • thumbs up if at 3:02 you wanted powered doughnuts :)

  • can not use white wine for this? 8D *has no money to but white wine.and is not of legal age to buy it. *

  • @shadowvampwolf Try a splash of white vinegar instead, but a smaller amount than the amount of white wine he used. Should achieve the same effect. :) Alternatively, you don't really need it at all.

  • @shadowvampwolf just use Shloer or grape based fruit drink instead

  • @shadowvampwolf i used sake.. and its oh so tasty~!!!

  • @shadowvampwolf you can use cooking wine as a sub I'm guessing, I'm 18 and I buy cooking wine all the time ^_^

  • ユーモラスなビデオを作ってるでありがとう。全部うまそう!

  • OMG :Q____ be my husband ! :)

  • How many marriage request do you have by day ?? * o *

  • Thank you for showing delicious video as usual.

By the way, the meaning of the word 'hoku-hoku' is different from dictionaries as follows.

'a status that has little moisture and soft, like burned chestnut or baked sweet potato. (by the dictionary of Daizisen)'

'a status that has few moisture and palatable, like steamed sweet potato and so on. (by the dictionary of Daizirin)'

In other words, if it is cold, it is still called 'hoku-hoku'.

And oppositional words are 'creamy' or 'muddy', I guess.

  • and here I am eating my miserable ground beef and cheese burrito... it doesn't even have any sauce in it! :'(

Food looked delicious, wish I could hire you as a personal cook.

  • Hoku hoku hoku 8D

  • どうも。 (^∇^)

  • youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmy *__*

  • Is it a must to put bay leaf? I can't find bay leaf :((((

  • @wlmessenger2

I think if you can't find bay leaf, it's OK.

I don't use bay leaf. and some Potato Croquette recipe don't use bay leaf.

  • I just made this... I tried making korokke before and it was very disgusting, but after following your recipe it was very TASTY! ^-^ Thanks again Runny!!!

  • Cela faisait longtemps que je voulais faire cette recette. Mon copain l'adore. Merci Runny.

I wanted to do this recipe since a long time ago. My boyfriend is totally in love with it. Thank you Runny.

  • What is the soothing song you play in the background?

  • i made the one that was from cooking with the dog a long time ago and it's pretty much the same ecept that you put basil XD ummm maybe i will make them again but your vercion :D

  • FUGGGGGGGGGGG. I AM HUNGRY NOW D:

  • Just wanted to mention something about when you were trying to explain "hokku hokku" around 4:53. In english, rather than "imitative" or "mimetic", we simply call a word that comes from a sound an "onomatopoeia." (Pronounced on-uh-mat-uh-PEE-uh).

  • @evanuiii Oh, sorry, didn't notice the annotation! Ignore my comment x.x

  • this is looking reeeeally tasty, thank you runny!

  • what is the name of the background music? its so soothing.

  • the cheese doesn't melt...?

  • Comment removed

  • lol i like the guy at the beginning

  • Haha yummy I'm trying this tomorrow!!

And also I love your videos because you're so fun-spirited and humorous which makes your videos pleasing to watch!! ^ ___ ^ <3~

  • Absolutely fabulous !! My guests said they were the best croquettes they have tasted. It was simple to prepare with practical ingredients. You explained the cooking steps well. Thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe.

  • owww love it, looks so tasty, I want to try all of these recipes! I'll let you know when I manage to do it :3 btw greetings from Panama~

  • so funny

    looks yummy!

  • Since when are croquettes/kroketten round xD?

  • Is there a way to do them without deep-frying?

    I've never deep-fried anything, and I'm kind of scared to ^^;

  • haha ur awesome!!!! I'm crazy about Japanese food I'm soo making that!! <3

  • Hahahahahaha the hokuhokuhoku-face he made! Hahahahahahaha!!

  • I suppose gitai-go would translate as "onomatopoeic"

  • This was awesome!!!

I made this recipe, so simple and easy to follow :3

Turned out great first time, I'll definetely be remaking, its very yummy, and great comfort food :D

btw I really reccomend using sauce, it tastes best that way, I used same as him and it was delish :)

  • could I bake or pan fry them instead?

getting out the deep fryer is a pain

  • what kind of potatoe is that...?

  • Very nice and super good (:

  • it's not made of bull dog...LOLOLOL!!!

  • can i use ground pork?

  • hokuhokuhoku

  • BUAHAHAHA, when you said ''it's not made of bull dog'' i laughed so hard! xD Asian stereotype - they eat dogs and cats!

  • this looks great! I can't wait to try it :)

  • looks much like expensive resturant food

  • Mmmm... the camembert one looks especially tasty. But I think this is definitely a 'sometimes' food because of the calories. But it looks so good~~

  • What was that song you played when you were cooking the potatoes? :)

    It's very calming.

  • in malaysia we called them 'begedil' =)

  • haha nice hoku hokuu hokku haha

  • very nice !

  • Just made this for dinner tonight. It was delicious and everyone loved them! One problem, I strongly suggest whoever makes this to make them in round balls like Runny did.

I tried to make it in the traditional disk form and they broke apart!

I now truly understand the feeling to hokuhoku croquettes! :)

  • my god...

  • Hi. I liked the recipe. Can i ask a question. What can i use as a replacement for White wine since i am muslim. hope someone can answer. :)

  • @F0bR0ckz I would strongly suggest chicken broth :)

  • @F0bR0ckz Would de-alcoholized wine be appropriate? You can find it in some supermarkets.

  • @F0bR0ckz

you don't really need the white wine, it just adds a bit more flavour. If you want a sweet savoury taste mix the soya sauce with a little honey and teriyaki

  • for all all karokke lovers out there.... Check out Spanish 'croquetas de jamon y pollo'. Thats Spanish croquettes made of ham and chicken and there's no potato! If you love food then you'll defo check it out :)

  • i made it last year and it tast soo good!!!

next time can u made some Mapo Tofu?

  • Hmmm when you showed the finished croquette and showed the whole plate the backround music sorta sounded godly X)

  • 3 couch potatoes disliked this vid : /

  • I love your cooking videos D: some day imunna make my own request.

  • I have a question.. If I make too much croquette fillings (I made around 1.3KG of potatoes!!) Can I leave them in the freezer and use them directly the next day? Thanks in advance!!

  • @wildreams

I had this problem.... Make your croquettes completely, even with breadcrumbs. Then you can freeze for as long as you want. Then when you want to eat them just fry them up :)

Or if you want to make them the next day, keeping them in fridge works fine too

  • @DillyBansal lol, I kept the mash potatoes in the freezer, our stomachs turned out fine:)

  • Don't feel too bad about 'onomatopoeia'. I'm pretty sure a lot of English speakers don't know what it means!

  • @DillyBansal Why would we not know what it means? Are you implying that we're stupid?

  • @meph1975 I dont think he/she is implying that English speakers are stupid, just that there are English speaking people who don't know what it means.

  • @pokepotter1442 Ah I took it the wrong way.

  • Wow, I'm a vegetarian, that's the first dish with meat I've seen that looks good in a looong looong time! (not that I would make it! :) maybe I will try with mushrooms or tvp instead...mmm!
