  • I saw this on tv when i was 15 yrs old. But why is the yellow hair girl playing air guitar. Tell her

no one can hear your acoustic guitar even though plugged in. The electric guitars will drown her out. Bless her little heart she's playing hard like people care. !

  • Let's say this all together, HEART WAS SCREWED BY THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME!!!

  • Barracuda was a car?

  • @wandov8 Yup,a hot sexy one,and a sea creature! : )

  • FABULOUS!! thanks so much for posting!

  • Ann is TOTALLY underrated as a vocalist !

  • Nancy was hot in the day...with the all American blue-eyed-blonde look, but ANN.....ANN WAS THE SUPERMODEL WITH THE VOICE!!! ....STUNNING BEAUTY IN HER DAY, SHE'S STILL LOOKIN' HOT LATELY.

  • maravillosa presentacion

  • What a great concert Cal Jam 2 was! I drove up from Pacific Beach and joined some friends from Berdoo. Heart was a complete surprise since they were relatively unknown at the time (they had just hit the charts), but their performance was top notch (I was about 50 feet from the stage). I came to see Aerosmith and Ted Nugent, who were both great, but I think Heart definitely held their own!

  • Back when rock and roll was original and performed by real bands!

  • i was there! its the ontario mall now lol

  • What an awesome band! Vox and guitars do it effortlessly!!! Love them

  • I saw Heart and a HOT Ann Wilson in Las Vegas in 1977, I was 15 years old and very high, had a great time!!!!! will never forget.

  • that is 350,000

    I was there-cal jam 2

  • that is 350,000

    I was there

  • @TheBrynlan Wow thats amazing.

  • @FrostMourneFK......Pretty sure it was Roger Fisher that was in the fling with Nancy.

  • @rschoolcraft Yup,it was Roger n Nance and Ann N Michael...later on Nance had eyes for the drummer,so a tough situation for any pro touring group to be in.This was the eventual downfall to the original lineup. However Ann and Nancy went on to create and perform many years of amazing music that will be around forever. ; )

  • @lovesheart Never mix business with pleasure.

  • @lovesheart didn't roger cheat on nancy then she tried to break up with him then she went on to derosier even though she was sorta still with roger?

  • @A7Xchick191 Yeah,something like that.

  • @lovesheart hey fleetwood mac had all that crap going on and still got back together...

  • @MrZol Yeah once maybe,I heard Christine wanted nothing to do with it,I hope she's is on board for this most recent re-grouping.

  • @A7Xchick191 i think this is right

  • the attitude+the voice+the Figure = WWOOOOWWW :D

  • watching 'high heels' rip it to electric was the hi.

  • Hell yeah, I'm dancing with those guys @2:35-2:44

  • I wonder if the drummer got any from the band... Lucky bastard.

  • @FrostmourneFK Yeah, he was with Nancy for a short period before he was booted out of the band.

  • @FrostmourneFK he did hookup with nancy

  • @FrostmourneFK Mike Derosier ( drummer ) had a fling with Nancy, it;s well documented. Kind of the beginning of the end, however, for this line-up anyway.

  • I am so thilled to find this video! I was THERE.....what a hot concert! the LONGEST hike in just to get there. I think we were 1/2 MILE back. Now I can see what I heard and watched thru binoculars! I want do-overs! This was worth doing twice!

  • YES! Just saw this today for the first time.Incredible-powerful & inspirational to this very day down to the second! I wish bands could be discovered like they were back in the good ol' days! Im glad the pros stuck around to blow the new generations outta the water to show them how it's done! I hope you're feeling much better & well rested since the last time we chatted.Your cyber friend.M. P.S. Your work & Love for Heart never disappoints! I wish that we could do something in return for you! xo

  • There is no one better then ANN! she is insanely good

  • @dude0072 Thats why we all LOVE her,she always performs at 110 %.

  • @dude0072 - First...I love Heart! Have seen them at least 15 times. But, Ann doesn't nail some of the notes as long as she could. Yes, she's human, but this isn't her best effort!

  • @innamorata40 ....lol what are you talking about haha she puts just as much effort into this than any other performance i'v seen

  • @A7Xchick191 - I've seen better live versions than this one. That's all...nothing more, nothing less.

  • I so love the ladies' hair, dresses, and moves at this concert!

  • This is freakin' flawless

  • Just saw the tour buses on this snowy Vancouver afternoon, should be seeing Heart in about 4 hours, cheers yall!

  • I just had an orgasm watching that.

I was at that show and cadged a spot less than 30 yards from the stage dead center. Didn't sleep for two whole days and that was without the aid of anything illicit (but I was also what, 19? 20? I had the energy for that back then). I wish they would put Heart's and Ted Nugent's entire sets out on video from that concert. It was just a great day out.

  • I was there, it was my first concert ever. Can you imagine? Thank you so much, I can't believe I am watching this.

  • Your very welcome!

  • man this is really awesome footage ya know. thick full sound on my system here at the crib. excellent quality. This just totally rocks for me again and again!!! thank you

  • shit ANN IS FUCKIN HOT!!! SEXY ANN !!!!

  • Damn Ann some legs on her. Those boots are too fricking nice on her!!

  • @LeBigMoneyShow right on

  • I wonder if that front barricade was high enough.......{:^ )

  • wow , they sound great in the era of no super mixers . Great driving back beat .Ann is singing her sexy azz off . Luv me some Heart , always :)

  • @tencz57 LOL ,yes indeed!! : )

  • @tencz57 yes she is

  • I like the dude in the crowd with the ridiculous beard 2:40-2:45 :)

  • Fantastic! Love this song!

  • That's really good.

  • The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame need to pull their head out of there butts and PUT HEART in! HOW is the most influential female rock band not in the HALL OF FAME?

Old men with suits should not have ANYTHING to do with rock and roll... PERIOD!

  • @redsnapper101 Agreed..well looks like Alice Cooper is finally getting in..it will happen for our Ladies.!!

  • authentic rock women here.

    posers need not apply.

    this is rock anthem stuff.

    jctoronto

  • Hahaha! This was my first concert! I was all of 11 years old and I got lost in this crowd. Spent most of the concert in and around the lost and found tent. LMAO. Nobody ever claimed me and I got bussed to a parking lot and dropped off in the middle of it around midnight. Looking back it I realize just how irresponsible the concert promoters for that show were back then. I doubt that would happen to a 12 year old girl now, I least I hope so.

  • @EarthMomma Whoa!!! I hope you got to enjoy some of the bands at least? : )

  • hmmm serious ass kicking going on here....

  • Nancy is totally going for it haha awesome!

  • Very good performance!

Ann was really fantastic, as girl and as singer too!!

    I love that woman....

  • ann was a total babe at the time

  • @universalself Still is!

  • she has a great rock and roll voice

  • Can you say John Paul Jones influenced that bass line :)

  • @rushwb And the drums sound like "Achilles Last stand" to me!

  • I LOVE this video, but omg....how did Nancy not trip in those big ole "blowng in the wind" pants? I would have busted my butt just walking in them - but she is getting down on that guitar without even a stumble!

Great video! You've got some really great one up! THanks for sharing them with the world!

  • @ImSuperHaute You think that's impressive. . .I saw her strut all over a stage all night in a live show wearing spike-stiletto high heels. . .I thought she would fall off those shoes and break an ankle at least. Nope. . .just kept it up all night. . .She even did it in some of their early videos, too ! ! Amazing. . .

  • @drandall1776 what year was this ?

  • @babyj1996 1978.

  • @drandall1776

Platform heels were pretty de riguer at the time for both men and women in bands. Much cooler look than the whole tennis shoes and shredded jeans sloppiness of the 1980's or the Chuck Taylors, black socks and board shorts look of today. It's nice to see bands look professional but still cool in these old videos. These days it's just one big slobfest.

  • @robibm2003 I have to agree.

  • @drandall1776 really ? what year ?

  • LOL Techno Viking's hippie brother @2:40

  • KILLIN' !!!!!!

  • Thnx for this one!! Amazing..as usual!!

  • The Greatest female singer of all time, along with Pat Benatar and Laura Branigan!

  • As we used to say "Damn Sam" what an excellent video~! Thanks so much for posting!

  • @TheTurbogus You R MOST Welcome friend!

  • What a band! Ann just kills here!!!

  • This is when real women rocked!!!!!

  • Barracuda 4ever

  • These women today have to get plastic surgery just to look like Ann in this video.

  • ANN FUCKIN ROCKS !!

  • @babyj1996 Hell ,you think? : )

  • this is pure fun. can't get enough of it!

  • best heart song ever - excellent live performance!

  • I really love this vid! One of their best renditions of Barracuda, she is such an incredible singer. They're both pretty hot too, gorgeous dress Ann. Nice, very nice. :)

  • Whooooo hoooooo!

  • The highlight of CalJam 2!!

  • Really vintage. Cool. Ann is hot (and I wish I could have her dress), what's up with the sleeves? Really neat.

  • What a buncha rock stars...Ann is perfection, Nancy is rockin', Howie is in his element, look at that Ludwig kick(!), Roger wears his guitar too high but he still looks tre cool in that red beauty. Solos sound great and all the voicings are there...I've never seen a band do this song right other than the originals. Sure wish you could buy stuff like this on DVD...vintage creamy rock 'n roll glory!

  • @david102299 Yes,this was the kinda the peak of Rock right here.I really wish they would have filmed more from this era, this is the stuff i crave!!

  • @david102299 You can buy the Cal Jam 2 on DVD which has 3 Heart songs, but I wish all the Heart songs from this concert were available.

  • @TheWhalerfan I know, the Cali version I got only had Lil Queen, and Barracuda, others include Magic Man,I would love to see the other footage of their set,but I don't think its available,I know the entire audio is though.

  • @TheWhalerfan There in somebody's archives. This whole event was filmed.

  • @lrewopf I think we all have to demand the footage be made public! ; D

  • @david102299 Right on, everybody rocks on this one for sure!

  • it was very kicked... we had been in line all night and were glad to be in and find a spot! Gates opened several hours before the show started with Bob Welch, so we had time to "get in the right frame of mind " :~) I was just far enough back to not be in the front crowds... about half way between the stage and the first set of pa speakers! We had room to sit... stand... dance... and people did not encroach into other areas... very civil! It was a long, tiring, fantastic day!

  • @bluesong1957 When did Heart go on,kinda midway thru??

  • @lovesheart

i'm know you already know this bu t heart is touring a lot this year and i plan on seeing them at least once. i waited too long to buy tickets last year in 2009 hoping to buy tickets at their concert venue to avoid service fees but they were sold out.

  • @The096757 Yes I hope to see them lots this year!!Best of luck with your tickets!

  • @lovesheart As the sun was going down...............After Nugent

  • didn't realize how good roger fisher was.

this is a sedate audience. you'd never see that at a mid 1980s concert.

  • @The096757 Good comment,you are sooo right!!!

  • Heart ownes this festival!best group by far

  • Before headbanging and devil horns.. the audience didnt really know how to move around to hard rock (as shown here) , until Angus Young came along! hehe..

  • I was at the concert, the very first one I ever attended. It was also my first weekend in california. I had just reported for duty at 29 Palms and rode their with a few fellow jarheads. Had to hitchhike back alone. I'll never forget it.

  • I would have loved to be born at that time for seing heart and dancing with these hipies at 2:44

  • Roger Fisher was an excellent guitarist and writer/arranger...he and Howard Leese made great music with Anne and Nancy and it is a shame they can't get it together...

  • 2.44 lmao looks like 68 instead of 78.

  • I was at that concert

  • pure rock n roll. Classic guitar riff made that song.

  • This version is KILLER.... !!!

  • If Annie had gone into opera, with her voice she'd be the most famous singer ever. But, since the highbrows love opera rock 'n roll gets no respect...

  • I want speaker cabs like those!

  • Made by Michael Fisher I guess;)

    Gunnar

  • Heart..One of the BEST live bands EVER

  • Ann Wilson with those boots and hot legs!! SEXY! HOT!!! Damn she was a hot sexy little queen. sexy vixen my little ann wilson. she was the hottest chick back in the 70's! cute as well!! did i mention how hot and sexy she was???

  • gendronp: Yes, you did, but did you mention that she was just about the best damn female vocalist of the era?

  • Ann Wilson is definitely the best damn vocalist in the universe. but damn, she was hot! i have loved heart since 1977 when i was coming of age and still to this day Jan, 4 2010 they will always be number one.

  • @gendronp SHE STILL IS !! ANN !! MMMM

  • @gendronp AMEN! I had a HUGE crush on her back in the day!

  • I was there. Heart and Foreigner blew everyone else out of the water, even Nugent (Aerosmith was on a downward slide at the time).

I was sort of a fan before the show, but when they came out and Ann and Nancy rocked the crowd the hook was set and i have never stopped loving them for that performance.

    Thank you, Heart.

  • roger fisher. wow, that strat sounds amazing and dead on with the studio version. he wrote some amazing leads.

  • Ann and Nancy must of had different fathers.

  • @Trashfished no they have same dad

  • anyone know what Roger is up to today?

  • Writing his memoirs and recording and performing around Seattle.

  • Nancy is SO fuckin hotttt!!!

  • I find it hard to choose between the two.

  • They are every bit as amazing in concert today. If not more.

  • Cheeztroll: Absolutely! I saw them in June and will again this coming weekend. They have built their strength - Nancy in particular. Ann was always an undeniable powerhouse, but Nancy has grown into a very large presence with her increased confidence and accomplishments. It's fantastic to see!

  • anyone have an idea what roger fisher is using for sound effects? His strat has a unique sound.

  • my guess is a chorus and a flanger

  • What a concert, Edwards AFB representing the Mojave Desert at Ontario Motor Speedway - oh yes we did, y'all!

  • hits you like a hammer at 3:47

  • :-s...you mean 3:17?

  • I was there.............

  • This is great. But this is before Boss invented the distortion pedal.

  • Before boss Invented the DIstortion..I thought that distortion started way back in the 60s

  • oh, that voice! annie makes it seem so easy.

  • best voice ever in rock! and she is still kickin' ass today!

  • A great video, and a great band. Heart rocks!

  • Ann and Nancy are super sexy in this vid. I love heart. Music today can kiss my ass.

  • Real rock n roll women. Not a fake cheerleader/ dancer "American Idol" fake pop wanna rockers. Writing their own songs, playing their own instruments .....

  • Exactly! I refuse to even watch American Karaoke.

  • LOL!!!

  • happy birthday ann !!!!!

  • How many Job 1.5's do you think were used at this show!!!!! Great times great music great day's!!!!!

  • Queens of rock

  • Back in the day the guitarists just loved to customize their strats,we are guessing Roger is using a schecter custom brass pick guard. The more mass the more natural sustain the guitar has,his guitar rang like a brass bell on steroids here in Vancouver!(Quote from Dave Loverock)

  • I love these memories! This was great.

I was at Cal Jam 1 and 2. What times!

Lookin back, I can't believe my mother let me do this stuff, I wasn't even old enough to drive.

I would never let my kids go, I know too much :)

  • wow..never thought of "Achilles Last Stand" before I saw this post..lol. Now I'll never listen to it the same again

  • i was at this show. there were so many people, it took at least 2 hours to get to tne bathroom and back...if you could even find your way back

  • Prettyboysing is right!!(and I don't mean this sarcastically) a movie about Heart would be great!!!!

  • I would buy it!!

  • OHYA.

  • THEY STILL ROCK AFTER ALL THESE YEARS.

  • Damn, these chicks fuckin rocked!

Love those boots she's wearing. Very hot.

  • you may enjoy scrap gold's rendition

  • is the lead singer xena warrior princess?

  • Why all of the thumbs down? Ann Wilson has gone on record saying that she thinks Lucy Lawless should play her in the movie (if they ever made one) :)

  • This makes me wish I was alive back when Heart was at their prime. I'm 13 and I have every Heart song memmorized!

  • SUPER COOL!!!

  • Let's give them ANOTHER round of APPLAUSE...those of us that were there can testify!o)

  • god, I was at this concert. I was a Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton at the time. We got there the night before and slept about 30 yds. from the stage. Woke up in the morning and it was a sea of people behind us. Some chick passed me some vodka/OJ and said "Good morning sunshine!"

  • Back when Ann was hot. Roger Fisher (I think this is him) and the rest of the band are rocking hard too. Great version.

  • Sounds like the singer is doing a Plant impression.

  • I see music man amps on top of those stacks, but my god- what are those white concave speaker cabinets? that is nuts :)

  • top of their game.

  • Comment removed

  • awsome

  • This song sounds a lot like Led Zeppelin's 'Achilles' Last Stand'. Both songs kick ass!

  • Ann and Nancy Wilson worshipped Led Zeppelin and were heavily influenced by Zep. Their version of "Rock N Roll" kicks ass. Robert Plant once said they were one of the few bands that he enjoyed listening do Zep songs.

  • True. I saw Heart with Journey last summer, and they played a stellar version of Going to California, they're no Zep because nobody on the face of the earth compares to Zep, but their covers are good.

  • In the liner notes to 1995's "The Road Home" Ann Wilson admits that this song was ripped from "Achilles Last Stand" : )

  • Yeah, it is very Achilles Last Stand-esque, isn't it?

    i never thought of that.
