@ArchangelMichael1991 - because it's never in japanese :) singapore once belong to malaysia and most of the people are malay. and then we got independent thanks to the malaysian prime minister and whatever it is the national anthem has to be in malay. you can go n reserch the whole history about it. japanese isn't part of our country they just invade singapore and has nothing to do with cultural.
@ArchangelMichael1991 - if its japanese anthem don't you think the country that they invade in south east asia are all in japanese anthem? n might as well be one country n not split? lmao make sense rite? ur just a mixed race so nothing to do with the national anthem my dear :)
@ArchangelMichael1991 Sorry I know I'm a bit late to the "party" but if you read up on Singapore's history, I'm sure you'll find that Singapore (as LionRawr87 pointed out) WAS part of (then) Malaya. Japan invaded Singapore during WW2 and after all the atrocities they performed I seriously doubt any Singaporean (who remotely remembered or understood what was done then) would willingly chose to sing an iconic song in Japanese. BTW, bear in mind this is an oldie and isn't a 21st century song.
@KucingKayap Yes, I feel the lost too. My primary school is gone. I can't recognise my secondary school since it has been redeveloped. My favourite hawker centre is being torn down now...We need to have smart architechs/urban planners that can improve/modernise our living conditions without tearing every bit down.
@veritasvita Mine's gone too. Oh how i wish to go back in time n get a video shooting of those old neighbourhood where i'v lived. The price of urban development... sigh...
I spent my early childhood years at Tanjong katong, where life was so care free and this magical song brings back those nostalgic feelings. I remembered the fine sandy beach , swaying tall trees and the rushing waves against the shore. Now it is all totally changed with the East Coast Expressway replacing the old beach...a real pity indeed. This very energetic piece, truly reflect that charming lively place again. Her voice really brings wonder to any listener.

The name of the song is TUNAS KASIH. You can hear/watch it in this channel too. BTW, you could at least say 'please'!
