  • Those parents need to pled the Blood OF Jesus over that girl The name Of Jesus makes any unclean spirt flee

  • Wow these parents deserve a medal, taking care of Jani seems like an exhausting never-ending job. Surely they should be given some kind of home help?

  • @PunkyPrincessPop A medal? They abused Jani. They deserve time in prison for what they have done and are still doing to her.

  • You need to watch the entire program then go and find the TLC Born Schizophrenic January's Story. She's had episodes since birth. These parents have been tirelessly trying to find a balance for their child. She sees an entire different world that is totally real to her. They exhausted every medical outlet they had until UCLA finally stepped into help her. Living with schizophrenia is hard enough for young adults, can you imagine having to deal with this when you are 3, 4, or 5?

  • Them demons are running them parents down so bad,and in there time of need they don"t even cry out to the God who can make this problem completely go away...pitiful

  • @mimi2696 This isn't the dark ages; it's the 21st century complete with medicine and logical understanding.

  • @beautifulmind546 how often did the abuse occur? How many times did it happen?

  • @TheMucikee It sounds like from birth to 5 years old it was pretty regular. Michael has a problem with violence.

  • I love how the entire time Oprah is looking at these people like "you have got to be fucking kidding me?"

  • These parents are doing a spectacular job. I think that it really shows how great of people they are by looking passed the disease. They care about her happiness, not curing the disease. And they're not judging her on it. They truly do love her are willing to do anything for her. And the fact that they have another kids just adds to that.

  • @JateMaster Read her fathers blog in full and then come back and tell us how great they are doing once you have read about all of the abuse. You are being completely snowed over by these videos and that was the intention. Read the blog before you send your donation

  • @beautifulmind546 omg he admits he shook her once but that obviously did not cause the schizophrenia !! judging bvy everything that has been said she was a difficult child before the shaking occured ! not saying what he did was right but jani did not get schizophrenia from being shaken i believe from everything that has been said that she was biorn with it so stop posting comments on allthese videos saying she was abused alot !

  • @Destineey18 he admits he shook her. he has also hit her, starved her, there is allegations of sexual abuse, there was domestic violence and animal abuse that Jani witnessed by him. They also heavily drugged her with OTC meds.

  • @beautifulmind546

    LOOOL!

Read the blogs CORRECTLY - you are so wrong, and lying to all these people!

He did neither of those things.. People please dont believe that, read all the blogs yourself - they are all there, NONE are deleted!

It's just taken out of context, turned and twisted..

But they have NOT abused her!

  • I applaud these parents...i have a neice that was diagnosed at twelve with this heartbreaking disease. After years of trying to deal with this and the disruption in their family; my neice now lives in a halfway house where she is doing alot better. They will probably find this a solution in the future. It is not easy

  • The parents seem like they're having a very hard time convincing themselves they can keep this up for the rest of their lives.... just saying.

  • @Jeanne09D more like they are having a hard time of convincing themselves of their lies... they abuse Jani.

  • I think these parents are doing an amazing job

  • The parents are not 'off' in any way. They have a daughter who has Schizophrenia and they are mentally exhausted. I feel for this family and prayers go out to them!

  • @thegolfrguy The parents are off. Research the full story before you decide jani is the problem. They abused her prior to her diagnosis.

  • God...

They are such good people it's ridiculous. Honestly

  • I know this sounds crazy, but the thing that makes me so sad about jani is how she has been forced to take all these terrible drugs and how she is treated like a freak just because she has a bit of an overactive imagination. i just dont believe this is schizophrenia. i say leave the poor girl alone and let her have imaginary friends. im sure that in the future there will be a new name for what she has and people will laugh at the doctors who said she was schizo.

  • @tokyomewmewlover9 nah leaving her alone would actually hurt her more, she needs constant stimulation. She's tried killing herself before, its definitely schizophrenia.

  • @Gigabowzerz Her father has tried to kill her too... why isn't he in the psych ward? Or prison?

  • @beautifulmind546 Really? I wasn't aware of that, wasn't mentioned in the video. From my understanding of the video he's trying his best to make her life as comfortable as possible. "keeping her alive"

  • @Gigabowzerz That's right, none of the videos talk about the abuse but he has written about it in his blog at janisjourney(dot)org. There is a reason there is no mention of it in the videos ... it's because they have donations to collect and books to sell and none of the money goes to Jani or her brother.

  • @tokyomewmewlover9 U are a total idiot. Im pretty sure that the doctors would have taken an MRI of her brain and proved that she has schizophrenia. People with that disease have a different structure or function or wtvr going on with their brain then normal people. They're not going to diagnose someone with schizophrenia just because she has imaginary friends and has bad tantrums. They need to go through extensive tests before that.

  • @tokyomewmewlover9 a bit of an overactive imagination? Wow. Even her parents said, they didnt seek any meds until she became violent. Not having a temper, not acting out, but violent. Trying to scratch her fathers eyes out, or kill herself. Thats not an overactive imagination... Its obvious she has schizophrenia. Besides, I dont know why everyone wants to pass judgement when they havent lived in Jani or her parents shoes. >.>

  • @beautifulmind546 god you make me soooo sick abusing the parents when you have no idea what is going on why can you not give a direct link to this supposed abuse ? if you cant your full ov shit and dnt tell me to look on his blog give me the direct link

  • @Destineey18 janisjourney(dot)org Go to the archived blog entitled "painted room it's in her head can't deny somethings wrong". It has no direct link. This is the blog where he admits he shook her as an infant. Get off of your lazy @ss and read the blog. You make me sick ignoring that this child is being abused and exploited.

  • Jani is such a cutie <3 i wish nothing but the best for her and her family. Her parents are so strong, I honestly don't know many people who can handle what they go through every day.

  • A dad who sticks around, I'm not used to that. He is amazing, they're both amazing because it takes commitment

  • @TXejas19 both parents abused Jani

  • @beautifulmind546 why do you say that? did I miss something here?

  • @TXejas19 because it's true. No you did not miss anything. They didn't discuss her abuse on any of the videos

  • @beautifulmind546 where did you find that out (valid sources) if you don't mind me asking?

  • @TXejas19 I found it out by reading her father's blog and then asking him directly. He doesn't deny doing it but he calls the abuse "mistakes" and claims Jani drove him to it.

  • These parents deserve the medal of honor.

  • @riyokarl both parents abused Jani

  • @beautifulmind546 Jani might have reported that her father did thhat because of her illness. i bet half the things u think he did aren't even gossip

  • @MayaBaker512 Her father admitted doing those things in his blog so you are right they aren't gossip - they are fact.

  • @beautifulmind546 -- can you provide a link to this supposed blog?

  • @ap0ph3nia sure. go to janisjourney(dot)org. make sure to go to Michael's (Jani's father) old blog and also read the archived blog.

  • @beautifulmind546 -- can you tell me the title of the blog post in the archive that mentions this?

  • @ap0ph3nia Entry entitled "It's in her head, painted room, can't deny, something wrong" in the archived part of his blog. This describes how he shook her and screamed at her as an infant.

  • @beautifulmind546 -- ok i just read it. all he says it that on one occasion, he shook her, and immediately felt guilty. they way you worded this accusation implied that they had deliberately inflicted abuse on multiple occasions. they are wonderful parents now, they do all that they can for her. i don't see how this isolated incidence is relevant.

  • @ap0ph3nia It doesn't matter that he felt guilty. She was two months old. They did not take her to the hospital following the incident. Jani DOES have brain damage - an ischemic thalamus AND this was not the only instance of abuse. Read the blog in full. Or not and continue not to care what this child has been through at the hands of her parents. Her abuse is very relevant.

  • @hinnies1 Now that's where you're wrong, this poor little girl can't help having severe juvenile Schizophrenia- a severe mental illness nor does she need to find Jesus to 'save' her! The devil isn't possessing or trapping her, her unhealthy disease is.

  • i understand what that little girl is going through i am also skitzophrenic i have paranoid skitzophrenia i am on klozi meds well i hope you fell better

  • 2 peace signs at 5:27

  • @hinnies1 idiot

  • @hinnies1 you're less open minded than a worm. They don't need Jesus. It's a mental illness. Something like you saying mindless words, calling it a prayer, and thinking that will help is absolutely useless.

  • @mewdon101 ok y'all should chill i'm a medical student but a christian too, i know this is beyond medical, i recogize that..you don't have to insult anyone

  • @hinnies1 maybe you shouldnt be so ignorant, its a mental illness, not possession. pick up a book or something.

  • @Grakekiru chill i'm a medical student about rounding up but a christian too, i just know this is beyond medical, i recogize that, coz there are some strange stuff put into play here , her friend beka has Schizophrenia but it's nothing supernatural..you don't have to insult anyone, thank you

  • @beautifulmind546 Ahh yes, I know. I saw your ten thousand posts about that.

  • OK I'm curious about something. It would appear that Jani understands that her 'friends' are not actually there, obviously her illness has been explained to her.......why then do her parents appear in some of the clips to be acting like the 'friends' are real? Why don't they gently remind her that her rats and cats are not real?

  • @vegemitegrrl because people with schizophrenia can be really sensitive and they're trying to not upset her. Whether her parents remind her that her "friends" are imaginary or not she will still see them and interact with them

  • Jany is a cutie :))

  • My mother has schizophrenia as well, and the family have all tried to take care of her. After a few months of medication over many years and attempts, Mom will think she's "fixed" and will stop taking the meds. She's now living on the streets in her own world on Lankershim Blvd. CA

What will happen to Jani after she's an adult and not taking her meds? Will she slip into psychosis, go to the other world like my mom, and live on the streets? There needs to be programs for these type of individuals.

  • @kittyPrincess21 what can be done for Schizophrenics to get the proper care, Because there isn't really any programs except a white padded room? Would it be pointless to even ask how can people like my mother and Jani be Contributing working citizens? When my Mom was medicated she loved being Waitress. I'm glad Jani doesn't fight like my Mom used too during medication time. Sorry for venting, I just sometimes feel bad that I'm living my life normal while Mom is looking for her next meal.

  • Do these parents work?

  • @BiancaBeth The mum stays at home while the dad is an English professor.

  • @BiancaBeth the dad is an english prof and mom is a stay at home mom(as I typed that term 'stay at home mom' I thought how have I reduced motherhood to such a clinical term ...in my own denfence it is the term I heard as I listened to the video) ...in view of my thought process just revealed I'm going to rephrase ...Mom has committed to being a fulltime Mom

I trust my reply has been helpful (I thought it was going to be quick and simple)

    respect

  • WHY did they have another child??!!

  • @BiancaBeth They probably wanted a child who would grow up normally and live a full life.

  • @BiancaBeth Also, the mother would have gotten pregnant when Jani was around 4 years old. Her behaviour didn't turn violent until 5.

  • @beautifulmind546 I was surprised to find a comment such as yours among the other supportive comments

I've just read through @1/3 of the comments and every time I see your name 'beautifulmind546' I see that your comments are almost always flagged as spam ....most recently this comment has been repeated @9 times ...why do you think that is?

I'm curious about your seemingly harsh allegations yet if true why is Oprah working with them? ...why are they living free of bars rather than in jail?!?

  • These parents are amazing. Superhuman almost. Well done guys.

  • This is sad. I really, REALLY feel for these parents. This condition is so rare among children, that there are very little resources for them. I can understand them trying practically EVERYTHING to teach her to not do the things she does, because they did not understand then. It's good they do now, and it's amazing what they've tried. It really shows their love for her, giving up practically everything for her. I really hope a cure is found for this disease so no one else has to go through this.

  • Anyone else got scared at 1:45 when she said "manage" and her voice suddenly became really deep? LOL.

  • Are these parents related by blood? Are they cousins are do they have similar genetics down the family tree? I think these parents are related down the family line somewhere. This is a very bazaar family situation. I feel for the parents and the children. So sad.

  • this kid needs some JESUS enough said!!

  • @mimi2696 Jesus can't help, it's a mental illness. Get real.

  • @mimi2696 how would having one more imaginary friend help?

  • it has nothing to do with her being abused, they noticed it in her as an infant. I highly doubt she was abused, why would a dad who abused his daughter, work so hard at keeping her with him, and do all that they are doing just to save her life so to speak

  • hmmmm.... not really concerned with the parents, more concerned about Jani who lives this situation everyday of her life. It does bring up questions in your head though? ......only time will tell, and if Jani is suffering from anything other that schitzophrenia, I would hope someone would reach out to help her.

  • @robthetreble23 If you are concerned about Jani then you need to face the FACT she is controlled by her abusive and exploitive parents and get the word out about that. Otherwise she is doomed to spend the rest of her life under a falso diagnosis and medicated into submission until the drugs kill her.

  • @beautifulmind546 God BITCH go get a life but before that do some research about schizophrenia lastly give some evidence.. seen a million comments of you spreading negativity hatred and plain stupidity

  • @beautifulmind546 dude really? you should change your name from beautifulmind### to closeminded101 hahahahaha

  • The minute she attacked her little brother, she should have been tossed out. That baby is in danger from his sister and he needs normalcy.

  • @TheNuharoo No the minute Michael was violent with Jani, he should have been jailed and kept away from her. That would have solved a lot of Jani's problems.

  • I find it interesting that she named a cat "400". Like where the fk did that come from? LOL

  • and for those talking about the mother's creepy smile..... don't be so retarded. how many times have you felt like you're life is completely shit, yet continued to smile anyway? There's no point in being unhappy about their daughter because it's not going to change her condition, neither is it going to make her better.

  • sick of people claiming abuse. yes, her father admitted hitting back etc... don't you think they were simply trying EVERYTHING to make their child normal? they were doing it out of desperation. How dare you all sit there, being critical when you have no idea what it could be like for the parents to have to give their daughter constant attention - their daughter is sick, and if you have children, you would understand that you would try anything, ANYTHING to make them better.

  • @OhAmazingX also the parents are trying to communicate to her in a way Jani understands! Hitting Hurts. Feel it? so don't do it.

  • asian kids get beaten at the age of 2....hmm do they ahve schitzophrenia???

  • Some of the comments on here are completely ridiculous. Until you have lived in this situation don't pass judgement.

  • please stop with the shits of 'how creepy the mother smile'. give her a break. she'd already went through a lot, so ure expecting her to scream and cry while being interviewed?

  • I can't help but wonder why Oprah did not ask if there was a family history of mental illness or schizophrenia. Especially personally, to the parents.. they appeared somewhat normal or as normal as they could be because of what they are coping with. I don't know if that's an offensive question to ask someone. Maybe that is why she didn't personally ask them if they had it. They were on depression medications, but that depression seems to be triggered by their daughters illness.

  • To the comment up threre about genetic. It is only a 10% chance of getting it from genetics. I was diagnosed with schizophrenia a little bit ago. It is not curable, and there should not be people insulting schizophrenia, that is really messed up.

  • @IhaveSchizophrenia1 Straight Up! you Tell 'em!

  • no offence to anyone, but the father sounds like hes had more than just 1 of his daughters meds on more than 1 occasion.

  • @beautifulmind546 this comment is repeated many times as well and once again flagged each time as spam ...again I ask why do you think someone would flag your comment as spam?!?

I'm curious as to why such allegations would come from one who's name is 'beautifulmind546'

  • @gaiagale The comments get flagged because the Schofields have invested a lot in keeping the truth from you and making their daughter a scapegoat. Do some research. These are not baseless accusations. They are fact. Ask youself why none of the abuse Jani experienced is in any of the tv media

  • @beautifulmind546 thank-you for making time to get back to me ...when I read "The comments get flagged because the Schofields have invested a lot in keeping the truth from you and making their daughter a scapegoat." I thought 'fair enough' yet your use of 'you' stuck out in my mind(I thought 'why from me?') ...then I read "Do some research." ...I am hense my reply to you. I repeat ...if your statements are true then why are the parents still free?

    I have asked myself why?

  • The only way to get schizophrenia is if you have a genetic disposition. I'm sure all those doctors at UCLA are wrong and people who sit on youtube and spread ridiculous harmful rumors maybe should look at themselves and ask what is wrong with them?

  • @scarletblossoms3 hahahahahaaha people on youtube are 1) always smarter (I didn't than who or what. ants?) 2) always doing their research (you know genetic testing, labs have studied in that particular field and stuff nothing shorter than a lifetime of research) 3)always right

  • guys some of you dont even know what the disease means so stop throwing insults because the disease is genetic and has nothing to do with the environment. this is why they cant cure it

  • @queen1990ful well said. Im currently doing a Masters in Counseling Psych and it blows my mind what type of comments people make, such ignorance.

  • @queen1990ful I know what this terrible disease is, & no 2 alike. Done much research for decades starting with direct experience: a close friend severely abused by his parents, before and after diagnosis. Schizophrenia CAN be CURED - especially if caught early. It is NEVER drugs that cure it. SOME are helped by short-term use of CERTAIN anti-symptom drugs, and [regardless of term of use] those are NOT the "front line (symptomatic) treatment" drugs more useful/infamous for causing symptoms.

  • @queen1990ful thats not completely true.

  • @queen1990ful I agree with you that people shouldn't gossip about the family. You're wrong, however, that schizophrenia is just genetic. There are genetic, prenatal and environmental causes for this disorder.

  • @Cinaminitwist2 ALWAYS include nutritional causes (as environmental). Niacin (vitamin B-3) deficiency AKA pellagra symptoms of: DEMENTIA, mental confusion; Dermatitis, alopecia, edema, red skin lesions; Diarrhea; ...in severe cases, Death; Insomnia; Emotional disturbances; Depression; Aggression, restlessness, tense and a desire to quarrel, increased preparedness for motor action; Ataxia, paralysis of extremities, peripheral neuritis.

  • @queen1990ful

i agree with you and ur absolutely right

i think it can be cured though

i think any mental disorder cant be cured except mental trauma like ptsd because thats something thats has traumatised a person. putting a gun to someones head and telling them to count to three and then not squeezing the trigger would permanently traumatise them for example. Schizophrenia is an inherited disorder i think it could possibly be cured even insanity could be cured i think.

  • please do ur research, the medication companies r liars. schizophrenia and almost any other mental illness CAN actually be cured(in some cases just lessened about 70 percent) i have schizophrenia, trust me "medication" does not actually treat the illness just the symptoms and not even well. the true cause believe it or not is diet. the processed garbage we eat is the true cause. type in "the gaps diet" in youtube for more info.

  • @MADDMOODY516 All of what you say is sometimes true. It's the first time I've seen anybody state these truths from within the general public. There's more, too, but nobody is paying any attention here. They're buying what the pharm co's are selling to insurance co's/doctors/patients/families: The most EXPENSIVE (who cares about efficacy or awful "side" effects) "latest treatment breakthrough." I.E. An older drug goes generic; change a single molecule, patent, make false claims, rinse and repeat.

  • @arfalon i agree it's the same thing they do with corporations

  • @MADDMOODY516 My aunt has schizophrenia and she has the same delusions....last time she convinced herself she was fine without her meds she held my cousin down and tried to exorcise the demons out of her. It is genetic. You cannot cure it so maybe get a new doctor? Maybe medication doesn't work for you but how can you vouch for every single individual who has this illness?

  • @scarletblossoms3 okay first, i never said or even implied that someone should stop taking their medication, that is up to you. what i said was medication has been proven by multiple studies to only suppress about 30-50 percent of the symptoms it doesnt actually fix the core prob, plus the side effects are terrible. and yes you CAN cure it.some of my bipolar and schizophrenic family have been cured from the gaps diet so im telling you from experience. i just started it n already feel much better.

  • Reality is hard.

  • This is a clear-cut case of severe child abuse manifesting into mental illness. My sister & mother are both diagnosed as schizophrenic, but I remember the horribly dysfunctional childhood my sister & I grew up in and that can just break a person. My mother started showing symptoms after my grandmother had unexpectedly passed away in a terrible manner that no one should ever have to experience. A lot of this is deep-seated trauma & that's why the meds don't work as well as some would hope.

  • Mental illnesses can be devastating to all involved. It can be even more devastating when society blames you for that behavior that the mental illness controls. My Daughter has ADHD and most of society thinks that she is just an average kid who is not disciplined properly, and when we go thought trial and error trying to get a good balance with her medication we are seen as medicating her to make up for bad parenting. It's frustrating to deal with bias and ignorance.

  • They speak as if they think the kids will never grow up.

  • Before making claims of child abuse show some evidence to back it up. Yes, stressful events can trigger the disorder, but prove to me that he really abused her. Either way, she still would have developed schizophrenia regardless since it's linked to genetics. Stop focusing on what you can not prove; instead, focus on the reality of this disorder. You are contributing negativity instead of helping the situation. Is it so hard to believe that these parents just want to help people understand?
