Even though considered racist now days, do we re-write classic novels like Tom Sawyer because Mark Twain used a phrase denoting the slave "Jim" in the novel?
Mark Twain used the phrase "Nigger Jim" only once in the novel, but still, by today's standards, this is considered Politically Incorrect. Do we re-write great works of art such as this because now it is considerd racist? Where do you draw the line? Do we go back and re-write all liteature that will now be offensive?
Uhhhh, I'm sorry but racism and insensitivity are not apt descriptors of the edited material. It's actually humorous. Maybe our society needs a giant enema to jump start it's comedy gland?? I find it more offensive that real racism and sexual harrassment have been diminished by this type of faux victimhood
All of the CSI shows depict horrible crimes, most often against women, committed by horrible people, and the word "oriental" gets erased. Typical PC crybaby BS. I'm no fan of Ted Turner, but at least TNT shows classic movies uncut. Think Fred Astaire in blackface, or Rochester calling Jack Benny "Boss". Give it a rest.
It's interesting to note that when the DVDs come out Warners Home Video was concerned about the attitudes of certain people. However years later they released box sets of the Looney Tunes and MGM cartoons issuing warnings to the consumers about the cartoons that they be unsuitable to some people. If Warners had released this set today they wouldn't need to worry about the cencorship problem.
Albeit poignant and sordid, the tragedy remains so. The colonization of North America by Nordic, Spanish and later British settlers gave rise to the greatest holocaust ever. Over a span of one century twelve million indigenous persons were starved, massacred and hunted down. Mass murder and genocide is the true history of the USA. The programs of ethnic cleansing continue to the present day. These facts are studiously ignored by modern media, but the effects are made so obvious by such comments.
No, I don't think they should have been tampered with. They should've been released, as they originally aired. As is, it's a deception to those, racist comments or not, who never saw the shows as it originally aired, and would lead to the question, "why are their lips moving, but there's no sound"/.
Now I see why this is played late at night on boomerang. The Racial Remarks just threw me off.. "you cant demoralize someones nationallity while there falling to there death"
Lol i still remember watching a rerun in the 70's where Race screamed "You heathen monkies!" Nowadays TV has been so scrubbed of anything they anyone, anywhere might find offensive most shows are like watching static.
I posted thirteen parts which is roughly the first hour of the show (the show runs two hours and twenty minutes) but only eight showed up. Repeated posting of missing chapters resulted in
I have no idea why that happened. I've never posted anything myself. But I see that you managed to post the missing parts. Nice! I'm looking forward to watching the rest of the show. Thanks again and keep it up.

Heh, you couldn't even get away with that in a Live action show in the sixties, (or even today).

Where did you get that clip of Race's controversial original dialogue?

It's a shame when the PC brigade can tamper with classic shows of the past.
