@theepic1701 Well, revenant refers to someone or something that has either come back from the dead or someone who has returned after a long absence. The Slavic vampire (the vampire proper) is definitely a revenant, but there are many more ancient legends that involve living beings who sap life, blood, etc, as well as spiritual and/or demonic creatures that need your lifeforce (often blood.) They were not necessarily undead.
@xJoeEDangerouslyx yeah fair point, I was being vague and joining Vince in poking fun at those that think that vampyr is the original name of the undead
I think Evil Dead doesn't go nearly as far as the modern stuff. The movie was mainly tongue-in-cheek camp. It was not just a horror parody, it was also a horror film, so there is torture, gore, and all that in there. But it wasn't done in the same way. Nowadays it seems like a sexual fetishistic revenge fantasy or something. It seems like something very sick people would get off on. Evil Dead was not that.
There's basically two kinds of zombie mythos, the now underused voodoo witchdoctor zombie and the flesh eating ghoul, which was a George A. Romero creation. Sadly the dead only truly come to life with a intelligent story.
I prefer werewolf movies over the two myself, but I think vampire movies are more entertaining because most zombie movies are siege movies. There might be a few differences in between certain zombie films and games, but they're essentially the same when it boils down to it.
i say zombies cause..well lets just say if they ever made a twilight version for zombies ive lost all hope for the horror movie industry if that makes any sence
Aren't they essentialy the same creature if you really think about it just interpreted differentially. One is just romanticised over the other , undead people who feed on the living.
I don't really think it's fair to compare these two. Generally, vampires are antagonists, whereas zombies provide more of a plot type: either post apocolyptic survival, or trying to exterminate them before they can spread that far.
I think people find zombies interesting because they're big action pieces. That's why I like them. You can't really make a good character out of a zombie. :P
Vampires are more interesting if you're reading a book or comic.
Zombies can also be good for comedic purposes, like in Shaun of the Dead or even the Dead Rising games (mainly because of the zany things you can do with them).
To be honest, I think I prefer vampires the most (And no, I'm NOT a fan of Twilight!!!). I've always found something so interesting about them; from their morbid living habits to their seemingly gothic lifestyles. I guess the one thing that got me into the vampire-genre was Dracula. Drac's pretty badass ;D
Although, I do like zombies as well. The idea of people returning from the dead as some "inhuman" being is something I've considered quite interesting :)
@DarthJones55 Also, who doesn't love a good zombie game? I know I'm spending my Halloween weekend mowing down the undead, if I don't have other crap to do. :D
of the two trends I'd think Zombies would be around longer because of all the zombie films and now TV shows coming out, most of them are generally well received and aren't hated like the trend of vampire shows and movies.
Vampires right now are synonymous with Twilight, and that's almost done. When that burns out zombies will be back on top. And with the people who make zombie movies there's no way not to respect the media they're coming out in.
@Bboyhopkins You may never know my friend.

2 Main advantages that would make Zombies dominant to Vampires.
1. Zombies have no emotions. -Less drama, more blood.
2. Zombies can eat Vampire brains, but Vampires cannot drink blood from a corpse. ZOMBIES WIN :)

"Im gonna call it vampyr because that what it used to be" before that it was Revenant (SP?)

Zombies will outlive vampires. Vampires will go back to how they were, zombies will stay up due to their presence in games & probably movies.
