I say Buddhism is the main issue. As far as I remember for the last 30 some years. "Religion is a poison" from Mao Tsetung's mouth and that was Buddism in Tibet. Imperialism and communism was what Mao wanted and of course his dictatorship was main part. China did have some dynasty era.

hmm..last time I checked, spain was a colonizer. although i'm sure they must have had their own native american languages but they didn;t have their own system of writing..and many great anceint civilizations have their own system of written language. yeah and i know that US forcefully took much of that land that you're talking about. don't think that i'm dissing your cause cuz i'm not. Tibetans get the attention that they do because before 1959, Tibet was a free country that made treaties with countries like India and Nepal. In the 12-13th century Tibet was a very powerful under the rule of King Songtsen Gampo and he even married the princess of Nepal Bhirkuti and the princess of China at that time (i don't remember the name tho).

wen cheng, she was a tang princess. 7th century not 12-13th, 12-13th cen was during the yuan dynasty. songtsen gampo die 650. wen cheng and nepal princess brought buddhism into tibet. before buddhism the religion was bon.

It's good to have some informed opinion on the current issue of Tibet, and see apparent footage of part of an escape. It's a disgrace that the Chinese govt classes those Tibetans trying to escape as common criminals. Watching one escapee being shot on route by a soldier (if that was real footage) was awful. The current Dalai Lama wants autonomy (self rule) not independence but the Chinese would rather erase Tibetan culture and identity that has stood for so long. Classic story of bullying.
