this man has a God given special talent! I've listened to most of his cuts. His phrasing, timing, modulation and inate knowledge of how to use his voice is astounding. I don't believe there is or ever will be any music Robert Gordon couldn't sing.

Dylan's version IS sad...That's exactly WHY it is the best...It's a sad song...Dylan's cover has got more soul than ALL the others...Dylan's band's got that shuffley groove going,with perfect drums,guitar,etc...Like a hot summer night wistfulness...Dylan's version is perfectly understated...

This is the definitive version, for sure, better than Warren Smith's...but no reason to call Dylan's version "sad." It's very good and features Charlie Sexton on guitar. How could THAT be sad? The live version with Danny Gatton is just as good, btw....

In my books this is "THE" version of the song. Looking thru related videos there's also a Bob Dylan version - and that's seriously...well...sad?

"It's only make believe" is excellent, yes. Especially love the short horn solo. Man has a VOICE.
