My cat Bob was already declawed before we took him off a friend.As you can see he can still take down the wildlife that gets too close. He is always leaving a dead mole or bird at our door.

I trim my cats claws every Saturday. It's our bonding time. That way, my stuff doesn't get ruined and my cats still have claws should they ever want to leave. Plus there are training sprays and designated scratching areas and such.....

declawing may be mean...but it's better than putting the cat up for adoption because you don't want to deal with it tearing your furniture or whatever, which is what some owners would do if declawing was not an option.

i for one would not declaw because i want my cat to be able to protect itself when i'm horsing around with him. it's his only defense mechanism (he doesn't bite hard). but i'd rather see cats live and declawed than dead because no one adopted them :(

Declawing is so mean. Would you want your fingernails to be torn off? I think not! Then, why make your precious cat go through it? You know, some people seem to forget that animals are like humans in many ways. We both have emotions, we both feel PAIN, SADNESS, and maybe even guilt. Poor cat. I really wish declawing wasn't allowed here. It's absolutely terrible!

I have had several cats in my life. My first cat was declawed because he had a nasty habit of climbing up my mother's back and her drapes. Later our latest three cats have not been declawed because my husband and I decided that we would let the cats keep their claws becaus the kids don't always behave. The cats have their own protection. And the kids leave them alone now.
