  • Unfortunately, the movie is only half as good as the soundtrack. The soundtrack is a real masterpiece. The movie could have been much better.

  • Im going to play this at my wedding :P

  • P.S If you want to see something that's really factual(from characters to costumes to setting) watch the 1971 t.v drama called Elizabeth R...it's up on youtube.

  • This film is beautiful visually but is so wrong on so many levels.Chronologically it's mixed up,the costuming and settings are all wrong.Elizabeth was never in love with Walter,in fact he fell from favor pretty quickly and had nothing to do with the battle with the armada and many of the main characters in Elizabeths life are missing. Her riding out in FULL armor and streaming hair is just silly. However what the movie does have going for it is that it represents the sentiment we have towards her.

  • I feel like such a spaz, for some reason I've just started blubbing all over my keyboard. Why does music always do this to me, sniff*

  • These composer are incredible I love movies like these and music also just plain incredible.

  • oh my gosh....i have never EVER heard anything so epic! my ear bleeds from the sheer beauty that is thing song. I'm in awe....

  • This is one of my favorite pieces of music. Ever. It is, undoubtedly, masterfully crafted and executed. How inspiring!

  • sounds like the new HP7 trailer!!!!!!

  • This music represents the triumph of Nature over men. This scene is so beautiful and meaningful. "The rise of a great empire, the fall of another". The dawn and sunset. It isn't about triumph of British Empire over Spain and I don't understand why people are arguing about historical and political facts. Just enjoy the beauty of this music and its symbolism !

  • @Artegalatus Very true

  • @Artegalatus There was no british empire at this time, the crowns of england and scotland had not been unified, great britain did not exist. England had an growing empire scotland had nothing not long after a bankrupt scotland with a navy of 4 ships joined with England under 1 crown, the English navy had almost 300 ships and an empire. Great film.

  • @tommy3lions By Empire, I meant domination and sovereignty.

  • @Artegalatus hello mate, still there was no british domination as britain didnt exist, it was England, before the dreaded union. There was nothing british until th eunited kingdom of great britain came into exitance. cheers bud

  • Ok. I can dide in peace now. Such beautiful composition just fills my heart with undescribable joy. Thanks for uploading this <3

  • @OpheliaFey That really doesn't make sense. But i'm not about to make this into a big discussion. You have your believes. I have mine.

  • @OpheliaFey Well. There are many Chrisitians who take The Old Testament seriously. Christians just like to pick the parts of the Bible that they like.

  • Ah. simply epic. Shivers down my back

  • Heavenly music.

  • Actually, the movie here does not make Philip evil. He was a king, and a devout catholic. He would not attack England ever unless he was given a proper reason.

And as it said in the movie when Queen marry was executed it was reason. As to Chevymonster203, that also is true. Queen Elizabeth was cunning, and a bit ruthless. You just have to remember that WAS the ONLY way to survive.

  • "In place of a dark lord you would have a queen! Not dark but beautiful and terrible as the dawn. Treacherous as the sea! Stronger than the foundations of the earth! All shall love me and despair!"

  • Does anybody know the basic chord progression to this? It's beautiful...

  • @DafTacoustics Try Em,C,G,D. Not sure if it's the right key though.

  • So where can I get this piece of perfection?

  • Just saw this film. Changed the whole way I thought about the monarchy, as well as the wedding, obviously :)

  • @meglover11

:D:D:D lol and Kate is a descendant of Henry VIII, Mary and Anne Boleyns. It means she is a descendant of Elizabeth :D

  • @meglover11 Don't believe it all, the reason I say this is that Philip of Spain wasn't no where near as bad as they claimed he was he even defended Elizabeth against the accusations from the Vatican and he was a catholic. He even tried to marry her after Mary the first died and tried to keep alliance with England. The only reason Spain attacked England was becuase England was supplying the rebels in the Netherlands with guns and ammo to fight off the Spanish. Elizabeth had drawn first blood.

  • @Chevymonster203 I'm studying history at the moment, so I know some of the facts in the film are made to appeal to a British audience. I know Kapur also wasn't trying to portray a completely factual documentary about Elizabethan England. What I do know is, the monarchy is a traditional aspect of English heritage and what I meant was that we should all be proud to be British after seeing how potentially majestic Elizabeth was in the film. No need to spoil the atmosphere for everybody...

  • @meglover11 Indeed

  • @meglover11 I don't want to spoil it for eveyone else, and yes I do admire Elizabeth. I also admire Philip, but I just don't like the way they betrayed him as a tyrant and Elizabeth as the light.

  • @Chevymonster203 I do agree with you on the subjective level, however i do also believe that they portrayed it right, if the Spanish inquisition were able to succeed with taking over England they would have taken over every country and imposed Catholicism, and therefore science would not have developed and the world would be stuck in the dark ages.

  • @Peachinub

In what way did the Spanish Inquisition attack science?

You do know that Philip was particularly active in advocating for Elizabeth to NOT get excommunicated from the Catholic Church, right?

Science was already developing at the time - and the reason was the Roman Catholic Church, which enthusiastically supported it.

  • @Chevymonster203 I think, to the English, he is portrayed as a tyrant fairly: he did try and invade England with the Armada. Fair enough, Elizabeth may have played a part in it. All I'm saying is, the film isn't about facts. It's about portraying a spiritual interpretation of Elizabeth's life, and the way she saw it, she was most definitely the light and Phillip the tyrant.

  • @meglover11 Not fully one of the reasons Phillip went to war with England is because Elizabeth was giving the go ahead for pirates to raid spanish ships and bring the gold back to England. It is a fairly useful stradegy considering if you look at Germany during the Nazi days Hitler did the same thing stole from other countries to better Germany's wealth. So really Phillip wasn't a tyrant he was doing it for financial and religious purpose not syaing he was right. .

  • @Chevymonster203 This war was a holy and a political war. There are many reasons that in the movie are not shown such as the support Elizabeth gave english pirates to rob spanish gold and to capture colonies in America. Also Felipe II (we must use the original names) was loyal to the Pope's orders of exterminating protestants all around the world known in that age. We must remember Elizabeth was a protestant so she also had to be eliminated, because she was a threat to Spain.

  • This track reminds me "Hanging" always by Craig Armstrong

  • Greatest Queen in English history, past, present, future.

Bloody Mary and her idiot husband Philip II heads should have been put on pikes.

  • @MrAop2 Because she liked to believe her own hype.

  • Wow Yamamoto really ripped off this song. Its pretty sad that every song I like from the Dragon Ball Kai soundtrack was a rip off.

  • 2:20

Dragon Ball Kai ripped that off

  • shes called the virgin queen cause she was unmarried but only married to her people. as said in the movie

  • @MrAop2 she didn't thats the point

  • haha alexander the greats empire fell right after he died so he is actually the great one lol his empire needed him more then they new

  • God Bless the Queen!

  • Top 3 best female leaders, I think are:

    1. Queen Elizabeth I Of England.

    2. Catherine The Great.

    3. Empress Maria Theresa Of Austria

  • @iSteven00 Could not agree more.

  • @iSteven00

    * Empress Maria Theresia of Austria and Queen of Hungary

That is correct like this : D

  • Comment removed

  • @galadrielfirst Well...if u want to be precisely then her title should be: Maria Theresa, by the Grace of God, Dowager Empress of the Romans, Queen of Hungary, of Bohemia, of Dalmatia, of Croatia, of Slavonia, of Galicia, of Lodomeria, etc.; Archduchess of Austria; Duchess of Burgundy, of Styria, of Carinthia and of Carniola; Grand Princess of Transylvania; Margravine of Moravia; Duchess of Brabant, of Limburg, of Luxemburg, of Guelders, of Württemberg enz enz enz.

  • @iSteven00

ohw i just mentioned the two most importants :P:P ehhh : DDD

  • I'M RELATED TO HER AND QUEEN MARY OF SCOTS!!!!! <3 Just sayin lol.

  • @08dressageGal yea im related to alexander the great

  • @08dressageGal ? pointless conversation.....

  • @clipmaster30001 you know Alexander was possessed by a demon.... :D

  • @LithiumHammer umm? where's the evidence to back that up

  • @clipmaster30001 Bible prediction. According to it he was possessed by the prince of (something).

  • @LithiumHammer never knew which part of the bible is it i would like to read that, maybe it make sense or they ment in a metaphor because alexander did have psychotic problems and that can be considered as a demon in the human body back in ancient times

  • one of the best orchestral music/soundtracks ive ever heard its really emotional

  • I admire her so much. What a woman!

  • Amazing!!!

  • This is one of the most powerful pieces I have ever heard. I've probably listened to it over 15 times in row.

  • On this day in 1559, Elizabeth I was crowned Queen.

  • Nobody could have played Elizabeth like Cate Blanchett did.

  • @punkcity Yeah, but the movie still was crap. Awesome soundtrack though

  • So epic..I just saw this movie on HBO the other day..Pretty good

  • As a Catholic am i wrong to say that this movie is anti-Catholic? I mean every Catholic in this movie is portrayed as a dark and sinister figure.

  • @macnos I dont think this movie is anti-catholic, it just shows the rival between England and Spain if thats what u mean, Im a officialy a protestant myself but I think I agree more with the catholic church

  • @macnos Well, I wouldnt call it anti-Catholic as like what iSteven00 said, but more of the disagreement between the Catholics and Protestants. I'm a Protestant myself too, but correct me if I'm wrong - The World was like that back then, when the sword was the descision-maker (its the same today, except with a bullet -_-) But the movie does sort of portray the Queen as a Holy beacon of Light, and yet never mention the people she had executed and the scary fierceness of her.

  • @squishyrubixmaster You're right, there was disagreement between Catholics and Protestants back then but what i didn't like about the movie was how the director portrayed the Protestants as being on the side of good and the Catholics as being on the side of evil. The movie certainly made Elizabeth look like a saint whereas the Catholic king of Spain, Phillip was made into the villain.

  • @macnos

At that Time the Catholic Church was still very religious and strict, thats why protestants broke off because of to strict of "doctrine." The protestants are like those figures who want the traditions to change because of their selfish ideals. All the Catholic Church was trying to do bring back followers tempted by "El Demono" back to the true faith. The Catholic Church is the only church of Christ. Proof? The Bible.

Long Live Christ's only Church. And bless the spaniards for following!

  • Comment removed

  • @CKabayan The bible is full of crap you decide to ignore. You probably have eaten shellfish before, even though the bible tells you not to.

  • @CKabayan Protestants broke off from the Roman Catholic church because the RCC teaches that man is justified by works. That is unbiblical. Just read the New Testament. The RCC tries to earn salvation by their own merit. But we know that man has no merit. That is why Christ died on the cross. To pay for salvation because no man ever could. Protestants realise this because they interpret Scripture the way it is meant to be. Sola Gracia, Sola Scriptura, Sola Fide, Sola Gloria Deo.

  • @katsbyandco

I understand that protestants broke off from the Catholic Church because it was corrupt... AT THAT TIME. You have to get to heaven through Christ AND good works of charity. You can't just believe in Christ, and get to heaven. You have to act like him, and be kind and generous towards others. That is the fundamental belief in Christianity. Christ died. The Apostle Paul and Peter, founded the first and only church.......The Roman Catholic Church.

  • @CKabayan Good works do not earn salvation. They are the fruits of salvation. An unsaved person cannot do good works. A saved person will want to do good works and does. But they do not contribute to salvation in any way. They don't pay his way into heaven. Paul clearly did not support this. Read the book of Romans. Time and again Paul states that "Abraham believed and God counted it to him for righteousness." Abraham did nothing himself. He served the Lord, but his merit did not save him.

  • @CKabayan The bible states throghout the entire old and new testement that the way of salvation is through the blood of the lamb. Nothing else. You claim to follow Paul and Peter, but did you know that Paul in Galations and elsewhere stated enphatically that we should not follow him but CHRIST ALONE. The bible states that there is non righteous no not one, so if you are to get to heaven through good works you will not make it.

  • @katsbyandco

The Roman Catholic Church is the only original church that follows christ, unlike protestants. You believe everything you need to get to heaven is in the bible, that is sola scriptura. You need the bible and more from others, that is why there are saints, that is why there are miracles. The idea of sola scriptura is blasphemy.

  • @CKabayan you're pretty much saying God isn't enough. That humans have something to offer. well we don't. "There is none that doeth good, no not one." and saints were not perfect. they were humans just like us. They needed a Saviour, too. "There is no other name under heaven whereby we must be saved." That's proof enough for me. Saying that people can earn their salvation is saying God is less than perfect, all powerful and almighty. You are speaking blasphemy to say Christ is not enough.

  • @macnos No offence, but the catholics and mostly Philip of Spain were killing thousands of people to get what they wanted and that was catholisism everywhere. Elizabeth left her people free to decide what they wanted to believe, she wanted peace and freedom. So no offence to catholics but that was a very cruel and injust periode in their existence and I think Elizabeth deserve's to be shown as a saint for she acted so her people would be free from corruption and free of mind.

  • @jojo9971 thats actually bullshit. sorry. The movie was wrong on that accountBut Elizabeths people wernt free by any means. She persecuted Catholics big time in england. Catholics in spain persecuted protestants and they persecuted catholics. freedom of religion wouldnt come for another 300 years when the united states was founded.

  • @squishyrubixmaster That's a very good point. To be fair, Philip was a decent king although nothing too special. The "good" of Elizabeth comes from her religious tolerance. She did not like persecuting Catholics merely for their beliefs, only lawbreaking (her laws of course). Most of the world, including Philip, were prejudice. Elizabeth had a number of faults but the movie portrayed her as good because of her tolerance. It can be seen as glorifying Protestantism and Elizabeth, however.

  • @macnos : As they are today, take the hint

  • When they call movie making and acting 'art', this is what they mean. This film is visually stunning, Cate's performance breathtaking and Craig Armstrongs music - well, epic.

  • a r rahman rocks

  • this soundtrack is pure victory and succsess (and of course that choir is pure evil >:) )

  • Obviously the recycle of "Hanging", Armstrong previous work.

However, many composers like to put trademarks in their other music anyway and this song is still fantastic!

  • Captivating...

  • This is the most amazing film and the music that goes with it blew the whole film out of the water!!! amazing!!! i don't even no what to say!!!

  • the English are the Red devils...the Spaniards are soldiers of GOD!!!...VIVA SPAIN!!!....

  • @El7IncA dont be so horrid who r u to jude wat is and isnt!!!

  • @Hannah9359 shut up!...Thanks "SPAIN" for Discovering America!...

  • @El7IncA : recent data shows that it was the Vikings way before spain.

  • @richyboycaldo no it was the Spaniards, thats why from north america to south america there is more Spanish names of cities than english, french and portuguese...SPAIN is the Ruler of the world and always be!....forever!...

  • @El7IncA "European fishermen may have visited there for centuries before Columbus accidentally landed in Central America, but fisherman leave no artifacts.

There is proof that the Norse predated Columbus’s arrival by nearly 500 years. At L’Anse aux Meadows in Newfoundland, the remains of an early 11th century Norse village can be seen even today"

Spain did conquer American, but Vikings Discovered Canada first, research it please.

  • @El7IncA you're idea that Spain is the ruler of the world seems to linger in the past. That was before. If you haven't notice, it barely has any territories left. Plus, Columbus was not even from Spain. He was from Italy, but Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand funded his journey. You shouldn't even be thanking Spain for "discovering" the Americas. Most of the native people died because of force labor and diseases.

  • @Ayessa367 SPAIN discover America!...thats the true like it or not...North America from Alaska USA to Mexico, Was call the New Spain, South America from Colombia to Argentina was call the Virreynatos...Cristobal Colon is Spaniard and he was born in Calatunya Spain, his letters were written in SPanish...plus italy didnts exist. it was part of the spanish Empire...SPAIN is The Mother of America!...forever!.,..

  • @El7IncA He was born in Genoa Italy. That place was an independent state around his time. As much as I would love to explain things to you, I would rather not. Spain did not discover the Americas. There are evidence that states that previous countries have been there before. Plus, for Spain to discover America, it has to mean that they were the first people there. However, that is not true because the Aztecs, Mayans, and other indigenous people who migrated there millions of years before.

  • @Ayessa367 ok he was born in italy and he spoke in spanish?...it doesnt make sense u fag...is already proved he is Spaniard not italian.LOL...here ill show ya.

  • @Ayessa367 But American researchers say the mystery over the explorer's true origins has finally been solved after a thorough investigation of his writings.

A study of the language used in the official records and letters of the Great Navigator apparently proves he hailed from the Kingdom of Aragon in northeastern Spain and his mother tongue was Catalan.

  • @El7IncA don't you think your just saying that? by the way don't tell me to shut up everyone has the right to their own point of view!

  • @Ayessa367 Christopher Columbus writings prove he was Spanish, claims study

Italy, France, Portugal and even Scotland are among those who have claimed Christopher Columbus as their own over the years, citing a range of spurious links.

  • @Ayessa367 Since his death in 1506 debate has raged over the true nationality of the man credited with discovering the Americas.

It was widely believed that he was the son of a weaver born in the Italian port of Genoa, but over the centuries he has been claimed as a native son of Greece, Catalonia, Portugal, Corsica, France and even Poland.

  • @Ayessa367 According to one theory, he may have been Jewish and another more recent account traced his origins to Scotland.

But a linguistic professor at Georgetown University in Washington has published new findings following an exhaustive study of documents written in his hand.

  • @Ayessa367 Estelle Irizarry studied his language and grammar and concluded that Columbus was a Catalan speaking man from the Kingdom of Aragon, an inland region of north-eastern Spain at the foot of the Pyrenees.

  • @richyboycaldo Leif Ericson discovered america

  • @CosmicDestroyer99 my name is Ericsson XD

  • @mralanv Then you sir discovered America

  • How I would love to compose a piece such as this! It is truly phenomenal - so many different emotions expressed through the combination of instruments and the chorus of voices! A great tribute to the queen!

  • @thepianomaster1000 its a great tribute to a great queen the best ruler we've ever had

  • Amazing strings...

  • fabulous!!!! stirring stuff!!!

  • One of the greatest greatest film scores ever composed!!!!! Reminiscent of the "golden" age of Eric Wolfgang Korngold.

  • amazing...

  • @the0csalev you suck

  • An amazingly powerful and moving track. Hard to believe that it got written "today" and isn't a classical track from the old times.

  • wow how kool to find others here who love this movie as much as I do...and yes i also have cried at 0:58 too!!!!

  • Excellent soundtrack; I do however have one note of critisism.

It does sound like a straight copy from the movie "Plunkett and Macleane" (hanging).

Slight letdown, but still beautiful nontheless...

    Thanks 4 uploading.

  • I love this whole song, but when 2:18 hit, that is perhaps my favorite part to this song. So epic, powerful, and it truely represents the crowning of an empire in the fall of another

  • empowering-makes one feel as if invincible, or able to fly...

  • thank you so much for uploading this. i watched the film months ago and loved the sountracks. i love music like this.

Dark Sanctuary plays very similar music genre like this. Absolutely love it

  • They had some funky styles back then, but we have funky styles in this time as well. btw Beautiful song.

  • i have to turn this up!

  • You can't listen to this song quietly

  • i'm a non emotional person usually in high emotional times, but this scene where she is standing barefoot on the cliffside whatching her victory touched me greatly. and the music made this scene for what it was.

  • The best movie!!!

  • The intensity gives me the chills every time!

  • Greatest Queen in British history in my opinion.

  • Oooh, shivers. This is amazing!!!!

  • Magnifico!

  • I'm Polish and my president, his wife and many other politics have died in a plane crush yesterday and this song really helps me to survive this horrible tragedy. This is sooo amazing.

  • I love this movie and its music. Absolutely fantastic.

  • No Words.

  • Perfect piece of music to honour the victory!!

  • And what are they singing?

  • Viva Espana:)

  • :) jajaja

  • God Bless the Queen!

Probably England's greatest leader, and probably one of the world's greatest leaders of all time.

  • @APG19912009 She was the greatest Queen of England, she made England, she WAS England. Without her, Shakespeare wouldn't be famous, and we would not speak English in India or Singapore or Hong Kong. God Save the Queen!

  • @Patatosoja Well I would'nt say (dog) bless the Queen, But I do thank that she did exist, without her there is no English we'd all be speaking in Spanish "Fuck That" when she thwarted the likes of Philip of Spain and others in the great name of England.

  • um... remember victoria?

    genghis khan?

    alex the great?

  • I said "One of" not "the greatest".

Like if i devised a list of top 15 greatest leaders, Elizabeth the first would be up there. Whether she's number 1 is up for debate.

  • @APG19912009 not even close to the greatest leader. she was a very good leader probably one of the best for england but there were many other leaders far greater than her. in terms of greatest female leader i think cathrine the great of russia was the best female leader

  • @clipmaster30001 My mom is the best female leader.

  • @F0reseer thats gotta suck for you

  • @APG19912009 Absolutely Long Live the real Queen Elizabeth I. She was the icon of her time, and today she still is. Fuck Queen Elizabeth II. This is the real Queen.

  • a shameful day for me

i will remember this day as

    the destruction of my ancestors

i honor you spain till death

  • but it still was this wonderful queen that beat Spain (which invaded England in the first place)

but it's about the music and it's DIVINE !

  • Absolutely divine.

  • reminds me of his other song escape

  • WoooooooooooooW

    God Bless U England

  • this is gonna make a cery good program music for figure skating... i wonder........

  • I was actually looking for program music and I thought of this movie. It would be perfect.

  • very nice sound, but the first film was better than elizabeth - the golden age^^

  • This theme makes me feel like invading Polony!!! ant let me think... maybe annexing Austria as well... lol ... but its a great piece of music.

  • Very Majestic. They should definately ask whoever composed this to compose something for the British coronation service. (God forgive me for even thinking about that day). Makes the 25% of me that is British very, very, very proud.

  • So long as you are loyal to the crown, you're british, where ever you are. Of course being born somewhere in the commonwealth helps. Canada, here ;)

  • perfect

  • its patriotic and makes u proud to be English/British. :)
