Actually, the different forces had different standards. The more traditional Army (Das Heere) seemed to try to follow the rules. The Navy (Kriegsmarine) was designed around illegal submarine murder of noncombatants in pursuit of starving noncombatants. The Luftwaffe began the war with the bombing of the undefended city of Rotterdam, then moved on to London. The SS--- were recruited to be homicidal maniacs at the beck and call of psychopaths, and were trained to accentuate those traits..

Sannheten er at nordmenn ikke forsto alvoret da de ble invadert. De fleste nordmenn var FAKTISK i mot hele den bedritne okkupasjonen, og jobbet i undergrunnsbevegelsen for Motstandsbevegelsen. Vi har ikke hørt om alle disse folka ennå. Du bør lese litt mer historie.

Men NS hadde over 40.000 medlemmer ved krigens slutt, flere tusen nordmenn kjempet på østfronten, hundretusenvis arbeidet for tyskerne, og mange var såkalt "stripete" under store deler av krigen.

there is a difference between allied troops and german troops - the frist did not fight against democratic nations, democratic parliaments and simply - against civilians.
And nazi troops were great in this field. Red Army only made more cruel things than wehrmacht and ss...
One more thing - if Nazis Germans were so good and peaceful - why did Norwegians ask for allied help and tried to fight with them? Why the king and the government left the island?

Im a Norwegian, and i see this peaceful invasion on Norway as something Germany had to do! If they wanted to win a war against the UK, they had to take Norway...and they did so by a amazing land sea and airborne invasion.
Everyone that have read history KNOWS that Hitler planed no war with Britain. Hitler realized that if he wanted to crush Stalin,which was his main aim, he could not afford a war with the British.

Min bestemors fetter reiste til England og vervet seg som commandosoldat i No5 Troop 10 Interallied Commando; han kjempet i Walcheren i Holland, og var blandt annet med på å innta Batterie Tiefland. Jeg føler at vi bør være ferdig med oppgjøret etter krigen, men det er tydlig at ikke alle er det. Jeg har slått meg til ro med at gjort er gjort. Frontkjemperne var ikke landssvikere, de kjempet for landet sitt slik de mente var best, på samme måte som andre nordmenn

You obviously have been sleeping in the history class, vonVince. Oslo was declared a free city in order to avoid civilian losses. It would not be possible to defend Oslo against the Germans; instead, the fighting continued outside the city. This parade was held the day after the invasion had begun.

Even though this is a propaganda movie by the germans many Norwegians didn't look badly at the invasion, mainly because of the economical and political issues going on all over the world.
It wasn't until late in the war, 1942-1945, when Gestapo started going to action, that the Norwegian majority opposed the invaders.

The British, together with French and Polish forces landed on several places along the coast to help the Norwegians right after the German invasion. They enjoyed limited success though. The only major achievement was the recapture of the city of Narvik, but it had to be abandoned to the Germans because of the seriousness of the situation on the continent, such as the invasion of France and the Low Countries.
