  • I thought the vocal is John Malkovich when he was young.

  • Just a great song. Brings back many memories.

  • nice songs ...

  • It would have been nice if Gerry had treated Dan better in the last few years and the same goes for Dewey. It's a shame that money put a damper on three good friends ! If Dan hadn't found Jesus and quit the band he would have died a lot sooner and probably have been divorced too. But I guess that didn't matter to Gerry. All he saw was the new contract and money. Well you don't have to worry now Gerry your former friend is with God !!!

  • remembering you vb

  • Gerry is so cute!!! Wish I could see them, all of them. :-( I hope Gerry and Dewey will tour.

  • I need the 70's rock back.

  • What DVD is this from?

  • RIP Dan. They could have.reunited for a one time only concert and it would have been the highlight of the century. For the MUSIC and the FANS. Epic fail.

  • Dan had time for me a few days before he died.I am a complete stranger,I left a message about John Martins song "Head and heart".He had time for me.He is a very special man and always will be.Thank you Dan and thank you America , your music has saved my life many times!!!!!!!

  • Me encanta esta cancion no la cambiaria por nada es una fortuna poder escuchar a una banda tan talentosa. Una de las pocas. EXCELENTE.

  • meed

  • I'm for world peace

  • Unrepeatable magic

  • Still one of my favorite bandds

  • ahhh my old friend 240p, we meet again

  • I am a Beatles and huge Zeppelin fan but I always used to tell people (still do) that Bread was a grossly underrated brilliant band. They released a dozen or more of the most beautiful emotionally powerful & enduring songs in rock music history.

  • If you hate this song, then you hate our country. Get the ***k out

  • Dan peek, may you please rest in peace. You deserve it.

  • 135 people need to be punched in the face with a sledgehammer by me PERSONALLY!!! How can anyone hate on America and this timeless tune??? wtf...today's generation is full of shit!

  • And this song is a Beatles rip off ,sounds like "something".

  • @EBBadd1 It doesnt sound like "Something" by George Harrison whom wrote it. Not The Beatles and this album was produced by non other than George Martin producer for The Beatles...

  • If Devo is geek rock then America is dork folk haha, these guys were so doofy, the shows had to be absolutely a true bore.

  • @EBBadd1 OK people shut the fuck up!!! Devo rocks and kicks ass and so does AMERICA so fuck anyone who comes here to spread their hate

  • é uma musica muito linda, para sonhar e meditar o que vamos fazer depois desta obra prima.talvez repetir para pensar de novo.Eu Preciso de vovê.

  • I will never forget that this band will always be there for me thank you dc

  • these sessions are really cool

  • Woe to us that have in our time forgotten those past treasures that once we cherished and now no longer will create.

    Ansular to the Tornians

  • I cry when I listen to this, a lot...

  • I'm stunned that people actually clicked on this masterpiece performance and thumbed it down.

  • I need you, i stiil need America , their great, thanks to their music.

  • one of my favorite song,,.

  • swagg!

  • gorgeous. one of the best ever! do you hear me ! ever. good day sir

  • i love it

  • Great

  • In the first verse you really hear the British accent. Love this and Daisy Jane. Something about Gerry's voice, songwriting & face make me wanna give him a hug. So sweet.

  • Really well-written song from an era full of them...

slightly Beatle quality to it it (the piano) but Beckley's voice doesn't get in the way of the simple declaration "I need you"...

You listen to this and really get the sense of how "human scaled" everything was back then...and a helluva lot less Mean.

  • Great band. I saw them play live in the late 70's. Their songs are times less compared to today's music.

  • Such power when he repeats "Left to me"

  • America ...yes , what can you say...4 million+ views speaks for itself...saw them play in Vancouver in 1995...brilliant.... and so many hits they have!!!

  • @4250215 but rebecca black has more hits than these guys thats a sign that human civilization is at its end stage lol

  • Brilliantly done!

  • for you hon....

  • I'm sure I'm alone in this feeling, but watching this video start from some random sounds and some spoken words, then suddenly this music starts. It's like magic, like it's impossible for this melody to come from this handful of people holding these instruments. Thanks for posting it because I come back to it time and time again.

  • Couldn't agree more. I'm back again. Hyponotizing

  • Thank The Lord for these guys and their songs! They are "Timeless"! And well..just really great !

  • music has no age, stop already with these stupid comments

  • =(

  • This is a very nice and great number of America.

  • IM(notso)HO, harmony to rival Beatles, Beach Boys,The Association etc.

  • ive liked Bread and America( and all the good soft sounds/bands of the 70s) since i was a teenager, mind you I am only 29 so I like them at a time where no one my age appreciates them. People turning their noses and saying " thats something my parents would listen to" I knew better. Your parents music is where its at! if you want real music, real artists, real lyrics, real musical skill... god bless the music of the 60s and 70s and early 80s

  • @IhaveaPhDinTV Sweet! And truth is seldom so real and of today!

    Sincerely,

    Love, Bridgette

    xoxoox

  • @IhaveaPhDinTV IMPRESSED

  • @IhaveaPhDinTV read your comment n if it matters n it doesn't..but all three of my sons love the stuff from my generation. Chris Long my eldest on his ipod is this song n david gates and the entire suite of Clouds, Kyle 2nd son..borrowed Chris' ipod, to work out n downloaded all of Chris' songs to his...Howie Jr, the last one n lets see

Howie just had a bday so he is 20 now making Kyle 22 and Chris is 27 in March...they are all about your age, tuff guys 4 sure. Merry Christmas from Howie Long

  • @IhaveaPhDinTV That's great. Music has changed a LOT. This was one of my fave bands when I was in high school in the 70s. This is the type of music we teenagers were listening to back then. You've got good taste.

  • @okesaita Thanks!

oh music today isn't even about sound or feeling anymore its about a look and shock value. Whatever happened to being able to write and play instruments well?

  • I totally agree there is something special about the music that can't be ignored.

  • @IhaveaPhDinTV good point although you forget to mention the 50's

  • @IhaveaPhDinTV hi, i'm 32 ;P I listen to old music too :>

  • Comment removed

  • My parents used to sing this to me when I was a small kid, to get me to go to sleep. I'm glad I finally found it.

  • ah, the sweet sound of music in the 1970's

  • Incredible song and band. Takes me back to my HS days.

  • thumbs up

  • Had not heard America's cover of one of the hits from what I consider to be one of the top 10 LP's of ll time: Nilsson Schmillson (1972).

  • What a beautiful video of a great band in their prime! Thanks so much for posting these precious videos!!! BobbyK

  • No los conocia a pesar de ser de esa epoca, muy buenos gracias poir las sugerencias.

  • 132 dislikes?!?!?!?!?!?!? Must be Anti-America people or they don't need anyone.

  • @CocacolaCowboy1919 There's evidently 135 tone-deaf people! :)

  • @tigerfan1984 I doubt he just wrote it just to get by. Most songs that become classical and resonate with you like this song does is because the singer wrote this with their heart and soul. What you said is beautiful, nonetheless.

  • my son...my beautifull sunshine in my sad life!!my light ...i love you so mych!!!

  • ALL I NEED IS YOUR LOVE...

  • 1:28 reminds me of ashton cutcher!!!LOL:) very lovey dovey song! i loove it!!! and i'm 26!!:)xo.

  • Wow, I nearly choked up when Gerry started out the beginning of this... it's sadder, fragile and more reflective than the record.

  • lool Lets rock baby

  • ^_^

  • I thought I read that one guy who left the group a while back, recently died. I saw these guys at a 'fest years back, they were cool! I love thier 80's hit, "Magic." Right on, man...

  • I like them *sigh :)

  • idk this song but my friend on wizard101 made me watch this... whatever, country music i guess, but it catchy thou...yea :/

  • @Queenjabbawockee1998 This is not country. Early 70's soft rock. Try the video Horse with no name. You may know that one.

  • Nice!

  • Great song. Thank you for this superb posting.

  • Its amazing that in a little over 10 years a few people can turn a great country into a complete and utter shithole

  • Gerry Beckley is my biggest Idol

  • Love is a healthy thing to have, and I do love America, the band and Beckley.

  • beautiful song - thank you for sharing it,, xxx

  • ok.. now i have to find @notegustariasermia's comment... >:(

  • How could people possibly dislike this great song? 126 idiots probably prefer to listen to a human beaver.

  • 40 seconds is worth the wait...love this song <3

  • They do make awfully good music. But to me, they lack in the sense of humor that the nation of America is proud of.

  • well I'm a true expert of causing pleasure to people

  • As we said in french...Maudite belle chanson !!...bien faite ! toujours une de mes préférées...merci... Jean Gagnon, prof d'anglais sec. 2, Lévis, de me l'avoir faite écouter !

    bye !

  • But now you're gone, I guess I'll carry on & make the best of what you've left to me. . .

  • This song is a real heartbreaker. :((

  • I remember listening to this song on the radio back in the mid1970s as a young boy in San Francisco.

  • Such a great band! Saw them, fiftth row; SPAC. They dedicated this to their women.

  • am crying me eyes out!

  • They came to play at The Hard Rock Cafe in Singpore in the nineties. Memorable.

  • yes...they "rocked" 70's style @ magga85

  • I must say this is definitely the best sounding live band I've heard out of the several dozen that I've listened to (I've been bored today) on youtube.

  • Everytime i hear a song by Bread I think of one of the Christmas episodes of the TV show The Wonder Years. One of the best single episodes in TV history. The series was OK, but they gave a lesson in life when Winnie gave Kevin a Bread album for Christmas.

  • @oranger2525 @oranger2525 thats great, I will so look for that christmas episode now and watch.

  • I loved this song when I was a little girl...America rocked...

  • @myfaithmydestiny FIGURE THAT LANGUAGE MORE BEAUTIFUL!

  • cool song kind of a Bee Gees thing.

  • @harwicke OMG yes! This song always did, and still does remind me of my late husband. He was the BEST person I ever knew.

  • as a guitar player this song is help to stop my tendency to want to play everything fast and over-strum... this song is deliberately slow and it makes it beautiful.. I think inadvertently they proved that the song, feeling and message is more valuable than olympic acrobatics.... although they were completely capable.. This song altered my approach to music for the better.

  • I need you...Dan ..I want you to be happy wherever you are .RIP

  • im am such an old arse mofo, why is it this music warts n all, is so refreshing? i will tell u why,...ITS REAL!!! pulln your guitar out and play it! it actuallly works ;)

  • @131david1 Oh Bless YOU! I know the feeling!! They say that if it weren't for sorrow, we wouldn't be able to really appreciate joy. Try to remember the good times. That helps me from falling to pieces :)

  • @ladyfuschia Thank you.....

  • @ladyfuschia I agree! only the absence of one can bring us to miss! longing, that noblest sense!

  • UMA DAS MAIS LINDAS MÚSICAS DE TODOS OS TEMPOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • a few years ago, I worked for a company that had built a radio and played this beautiful music! did not know who he was or who sang and played, because the authors did not speak! and only now discovered that this band is the author of music! this song really touched me and still touches me ... I miss those times!

  • Gosh, didn't know Dan had passed until just now. Damn!

  • 122 people here are spiritually retarded

  • Their harmonization is what really pulled me in. Amazing music, great lyrics. THIS is what music is.

  • mmmmmm...lovely stuff.

  • i need my little pooh bears.

  • Another great classic song, but Gerry's vocals here really don't compare to the studio version (it wasn't just the miking; he sounded a little off and he was really forcing it).

  • This Was Played Even Today On The Radios...During Evening Around 10:00..I Was Just Saying That Old Songs Are Being Played 10 Pm Or 10 Am Or Even 1 Pm..Just Saying Old Songs Like This Makes Us Wanna Fall Asleep Which is Great..Try Listening To Gaga Its Like Were Doomed Man!!!

  • great band'is Dan the one with blond hair and glasses?

  • @52maneat No that's Gerry Beckley, Dan should be that with light blue shirt. Sorry for my bad english. Greetings from Italy.

  • An amazing band. One of the most underrated. Maybe the best to come out of the 70's.

  • hoy es cumpleaños de mi mama y quiero decirle a ella a tarvez de esta cancion lo mucho que la queremos y necesitamos, de parte de sus dos hijos. TE AMO MAMI!!!!
