> The Beach Boys made fools of themselves when they did a disco remix
Can't totally agree. Firstly, not many Beach Boys on it, and secondly not a re-mix but a completely different recording.
I like the disco version - it's interesting with headphones listening to the various voices, and it's very well recorded. It completely lacks the excitement of the 1968 recording, but it's still good.

Sorry y'all. This was the perfect example of Beach Boys weakness. Many songs they just made sound. Essentially just went through the motions. That or the creativity ran dry a bit to fast. They have these on every album. and for the record, I adore the Boys. I know, begin the vote down. Feel free.....
Not necessarily. Some songs from Abbey Road were written far before the album itself was released. Here Comes the sun (Along with Because) were written in 1966.
ORLY? So you're saying Brian somehow stole a track that he'd never heard and that had never been released, reversed it and came up with this? Makes sense.
Alright then I made that comment 8 months ago and I didn't know. And you are open to the possibillity that Here Comes the Sun could've been written before Abbey Roads production correct? And also that The Beatles and Beach Boys were friends and therefore can share ideas with one another. So do what I didn't do 8 and 6 months ago and examine what you say before you say it.
Anyway, Paul and Brian were/are friendly, but "Here Comes The Sun" is a Harrison and Paul isn't likely to be showing off John's or George's songs when he was writing so many songs of his own.
The song is usually quoted as Harrison having written it in 1969 in Eric Clapton's garden.
I love WILD HONEY... I love Brian's detuned piano combined with Carl's 12 string.... in this song it combines so well!

Sounds like Brian to me...pretty clearly.
Then again, I thought Brian sang the SMiLE version of Wind Chimes but that's Carl.

What a great melody!. Great album too. My fav!

Wonderful! Gee whiz, it's been a long time since I heard this song!
Now I remember what happened to my original Wild Honey LP. I wore it out playing it!
The sound of the LP could do some digital touching up. It sounds pretty murky, but that's pretty well what it sounded like originally.

Brian takes the lead vocal.

@rainriders I think it is Carl.

@silat13 I think so too. Brian took the lead vocal away from Dennis and gave it to Carl.

I remember learning the bass part for this song - simple, but I was so new to it back then.
RowBadMovies 1 year ago
You hear that angry-sounding (intentional) electric-organ bass here, which would fully blossom in the Love You album...
BucketFurter 2 years ago
I love the violent-ish feel that Brian Wilson has when he sings! It makes it seem more classic, yet people can relate to these songs these days.

@sallyragdoll13 I think it's actually Carl, although I'm not sure.

Lawl, except this sounds absolutely nothing like "Here Comes the Sun".
Also, the Beach Boys >>>> the Beatles, although the latter are certainly good, too.

great track even if one of the licks sound like the Sesame Street intro
skane01 3 years ago 4
If there's any similarity, then it would be Sesame Street that borrowed the lick. :P

@skane01 If you want a Beach Boy's song that sounds like the Sesame Street intro, listen to 'Carl's Big Chance'
