Dear Austin. Your videos are always a pleasure to watch. A great success despite the bad weather, because I think that during the gala, the best friend the cameraman was the umbrella. Thank you.
That was an excellent video in those conditions Austin. You deserve a medal or something. I particularly enjoyed the clip around 6:30 when you used the glowering sky as a feature of the composition. Did they put a special train on for the visitors who were wandering off at the end?
Thanks Mike, in some ways it was good to not have the usual crowds in the shot because of the conditions. The last passenger train ran around ten minutes after my last shot of the 11 wagon train
could you possibly tell me any information on what is happening at the colliery, there is no news really about it on the website, anyway 5/5, please do reply
Sorry Sam, I don't really know. It's a long term plan to have it restored but as with so many things the will to do it is there but it comes down to having the cash available
When you watch it in full screen it is one of the most atmospheric steam videos I have seen this year. The weather meant there were far fewer spectators than normal in your shots and it wasn't too large a leap of imagination to beleive you were watching the 1950's all over again. Loved it, thank you.
Thank you, it did make a difference to filming with fewer people about and of course meant that you could film from either side of the line without worrying about the sun. The conditions definitely helped the atmosphere I thought
Thanks Steve, Pam was too busy taking her stills to hold the brolly. I've employed a new method of tucking the brolly down my back and then supporting it with my belt, works a treat and leaves both hands free!!
A big thank you Austin, for enduring such inclement weather to bring us this superb production from The Foxfield. This Annual Gala is always one of the most spectacular displays of steam working in the UK..there is nowhere else like it, your coverage as always is faultless, with the rain creating such a different feel to the more normal hot days often experienced during this Gala...Bob
You proved to be defiant getting these very fine array of sequences on a very typical British weather scenes, the Foxfield line really puts on a real fine show with small industrial engines hauling wagons up very steep gradients
Great video Austin. Many thanks for capturing the moments in pretty dire conditions. Those locos are are credit as they pound up the hillside. That is one steep climb by any stretch of the imagination. Terrific, cheers Dave
Yes she was possibly the best performer, interesting to listen to the softer exhaust as she leaves the colliery and then much harsher as she nears the top of the bank
Thanks Simon, yes we definitely picked the wrong day, just watched your vid with that superb sky. Still, always a pleasure to visit the Foxfield even on a wet day
Thanks, all the credit should go to the railway, they work so hard to put on a good show for those of us taking photos or video. Great shame for them that the poor weather affected visitor numbers a bit
The Bagnall is what they used for Bill & Ben in Thomas the tank Engine & Friends!

Thanks Dave, the climb from the colliery is quite a test for the locos and is always great to see and hear

Very nice footage! Neat to see the smaller engines in action vs. the bigger ones we usually see.

Thanks, it does make a pleasant change to see the little engines doing their stuff now and again

Florence was belting along with those six wagons plus van. That Giesel injector thingumijig seems to make a difference.
