  • hi I tried it and it came out perfectly cooked and delicious. Thanks .

  • I always really like this guys recipes, this one looks really nice. this particular videos sound is a bit dodge though.

  • I like this recipe. But if you like spicy chicken recipes, please try my new creation!!

  • Very happy with this recipe! I picked the recipe for its simplicity and method of cooking. I liked the fact that there was no need to go through a lenghty process of grinding spices and making a paste. Also this recipes sounded very healthy as there was no frying involved at all other than fried onions which I cooked in 1 tbsp of olive oil. I followed the instructions and it came out perfect - well cooked and full of flavour. I didn't add any water at all and the chicken wasn't burnt!

  • hii.. i tried this biryani for the first time.. but it was totally flope.. i know that is my mistake.. the rice was good but the bottom chicken was totally changed like coal..that much black colur.. motham maadipoindi.. i put it 5min for high flame, 15min for medium nd 10min for low.... can any one tell me tip for it??

  • @srilulucky cook it on medium to low heat for complete duration.

  • @srilulucky to avoid burning use a thick bottom vessel.and cover it tight so that moisture remains in it.

  • This has put me right in the mood for a good biryani.

    Better go and phone mum.

  • i like this guy. he aint boring.

  • i would like to eat that right now my mouth is watering like crazy

  • IS THAT RUSSEL PETERS?

  • is this a biryani recipe or a history class??

  • hey u didnt tell to add water in the last. I burn my all biryani bcoz of u.In the last u after putting a layer of rice on chicken u need to add water or birani will burn.

  • This is not the correct recipe of Hyderabadi Biryani. I'm a hyderabadi and we dont add javetri, pepper corns, kala jeera, corriander and cumin pwdr, etc to the marinade(yakhni in urdu)...lemon, v little quantity of milk is added to the biryani as well....green chillies should be whole....small things make a big difference in the Biryani flavor.

  • Had tried the biryani... everything is perfect, but the chicken and the gravy got burnt.... disappointed. Could you please suggest me some tips to get out of the chicken burnt grave.

  • @sairam272011 Try putting the cooking pot over a thick pan(tawa) and then put it in low heat for about 45 mins(it takes longer). Comes out perfect everytime

  • Thanks! This is very good..

  • hello vanchef. i tried out this biriyani. it was overall good but what i foound after removing the biriyani from tandoor was that the lower chicken layer was burnt and max of the oil got concentrated in that area. plz help

belief is blind , experience is truth...--- vivekananda

  • Absolutely excellent base recipe. I roasted and ground up the spices and the green things and ginger garlic before marinating the chicken in them. Followed the instructions here to the letter and the biryani turned out absolutely amazing. I also added salt to the water that the rice soaked in.....the end result tasted like pakistani restaurant biryani. Thanks VahChef!

  • sale harami har ek recipies Sanjeev kapoor ji ki copy karta hai... teri khud ki koi kyuu nahi hai saale copycat....haraamkhor u bullshit hear yr bloody bullshit voice....

  • @jahnsahib Vahchef is so talented ..he has no necessity to copy from other chefs.

Even if he copies what is the big deal? putting it on the net itself is for others to learn. I don't think its good abusing him...

  • How to make the biryani with more gravy, little less dry. should i add water in the chicken??

  • Awesome Sanjay.

We tried this recipe today and had a wonderful biryani.

    Thanks a lot.

  • INDIAN FOODS IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD. WITH ALL OF THOSE INGREDIENTS THEY USE YOU CANT BEAT THEM. IM NOT AN INDIAN BUT I LOVE THEIR FOOD, SPECIALLY CHICKEN/MUTTON BIRYANI, CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA, CURRY, AND OTHER GOOD LOOKING MOUTH WATERING COLORS OF STEWS WHICH I DONT KNOW WHAT ARE THEY BUT TASTE GOOD! SHIT, IM HUNGRY NOW!

  • why does he always touches the food with his hands ? you are a very nice cook but plz try to use spoons and forks. when u want to add something or when u want to tast it.

  • @hypnotizerful ...most of the professional chef's do...they wash their hands often and are very particular about hygiene standards...washing hands with soap and water is quite sufficient.... the idea gloves/spoons being a 'must' to be considered hygienic has been propagated by mostly fast food chains where they sell their food as being hygienic & 'healthy'

  • toooooo goood and easy. thanks

  • BOLYGOLI VU SOMETING .com <=3 yea

  • zSYGSDCKJHRWFV jhnn,g

  • canu uploud some more

  • i used to have a friend who made us biryani and we simply adore it. This recipe looks fab and I will now attempt it myself!

  • Yr audio sound is very low... Can't hear u speak....but the food look good.

  • This is my fave Indian dish. I tried this last night and it was amazing. Even better the next day! I love that he illustrates that you don't have to faff about to get a good Biryani just bung it all in and put on a low heat! Thanks Vah Chef!

  • Sanjay, plz gv tips on how to fry the onions crisply. I have been cooking biryani since yrs. yr tip on how to ensure the rice doesn't get overcooked helped me a lot. tnx once again. we r making biryani today. yippee !!

  • Sanjay, I have been watchin yr videos since two years. You are far better than Sanjeev Kapoor. Most of Sanjeev Kapoor's recipes go wrong as he does not teach the fine techniques of cooking as u do. My husband and me together made your sweet poori for Ganesh Chaturthi. My family liked it so much. May u live long, hale and hearty. God bless u n yr family.

  • really i also learnled from you how cook biryani thanks a lot.

  • man i love biryani

  • I ALWYZZ LOVE UR DISHES.......U ARE THE BEST..

  • man i missed eating this in india :((

  • Just made this one today... very nice. The mace and mint added a distinct flavour. However, would anyone have any tips on how to stop the yogurt curdling? It's a problem I never seem to be able to surmount. Thankfully the yogurt cooked down nicely in the biryani, but I did notice a bit of curdled yogurt clinging to some of the chicken pieces.

  • the best biryani recipe ever, thanks Vah Chef, did u miss lemon ?

  • @teluguhasyam Use less water. Wash rice several times under cold water to get rid of outside starch.

I am sure you have figured that out by now.

  • Thanks for this wonderful recipe.. My chicken biriyani came out really well..

  • oh! how lucky i am to open this video.coz it gave a new Hope and Excitement coz how many times ive tried to experiment and it the result just gave me frustration..ty for this video coz now i watched the correct way of doing it and i am challenged to do it AGAIN!

  • I have hot plates instead of burners which take time to increase and decrease heat, how do i control the heat in the last process?? I have only one big enough hot plate for cooking biryani type dishes

  • Can we use nutmeg in place of the mace???

  • @Gh4LVr I reckon you could; it would give a very tasty flavour (use far less though!). However the taste is nothing the same. Mace is quite a non-descript taste whereas nutmeg is definitely a taste all of it's own! You may lose authenticity but it would still definitely be tasty. I think half a teaspoon would be enough. Hope that helps x

  • how long do we leave the chicken for marination?

  • niice didn't know biryani was indian.

  • It worked just fine for me. It wasn't the best Biryani I ever had but it I think that was due to absence of saffron and it can be improvised.

As a feedback, this 'how to' was really neatly done and you have actually made it look a lot easier. You may quantify things a bit to easily determine servings. Also, I would oil the pan before layering chicken and rice so it wont stick as pointed out by abialafoka.

Good work and keep it up..

  • my favorite meal.

  • I am British Portuguese but i love indian food and i tried this recipe It turned out really great and i loved it thank you for showing me how to cook. cheers mate

  • I tried this...was a big flop

  • Ummmm..,i just love this dish among all indian food.

  • really awesome.

  • I made the biriyani following your recipe. It came out great. The best biriyani I have eaten in a long time. Thank you so much, Sanjay.

I couldn't procure mace, mint and saffron.

I used nutmeg powder instead of mace. Several other spices I got from a pack of whole garam masala from the Indian store. Microwaved the basmati rice for 10 mnts. (2 mnts. after boiling). One minute after boiling should suffice.

  • I usually use the readymade briyani mixture from the store but this way is much tastier though is more work...

  • That was my first india food recipe, and it was horrible :( I don't know why :( I use big pot and chicken was stick to the bottom, and taste it wasn't good :( I feel very strong bad flavour, i think maybe it because cloves, smell in my opinion really bad. I ate before in indian restaurant that food, and was something amazing, that i want to make this in home. anyway On your video look very nice

  • whr is lemon?

  • yenna rascala mind it

  • i'm craving for a biryani right now :(

  • varevah.... kya bath hai.... amazing cook.. i am living in finland,.. and i am surviving here because of u ... so far i have made many of your dishes ... and they are too good...

  • oh and I thought indian food was always vegan.. :( disapointed

  • Great video thanks alot. Looks very tasty. One thing i noticed is his voice is same as Sachin Tendulkars.

  • i have tried this recipe many times and really love it. i cook it at very low temperature in a non stick pan. it is awsome. i would also like to get the recipe for honey fried chicken which i tried in a chinese restaurent. you are doing a great job by inspiring others to cook. thank you chef.

  • last friday i trt but the biryani burn to all do not try this..my family come so i make this for them but the biryani burt even at very low temperature..please sir tested the

  • Comment removed

  • @nazi30215 Fuck you faggot - your a fag thats why,. hahahaha!!.. stoopid nazi!

  • Seems like a good recipe, but I didn't hear how much of each item to use.

  • @faithfp They have the measurement on the website I think.

  • @Moonlightrealgirl I just went with 3 pounds of meat and one tea spoon of spices. I added more spice till it smelled like the dish I get at the restaurant, but no more than two tea spoons. And very little turmeric, it's very bitter. It came out great.

  • Okay. Dude. I don't need to know the history of chicken biriyani...I just need to learn how to cook the damn thing

  • very very testy testyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.......... yummmmmmm.. yummmmmmyyyyyyyy..

  • i tried it n it worked!!! awesome recipe chef!!! n i like d way u talk!! very friendly!!! keep up d gud job chef!! ur cool! :)

  • this man talk too fucking much! ohhh for fuck sake! stop talking and start cooking!!!!!

  • May be this will help all those that are burning their biryani's. Marinate the chicken as illustrated by Sanjay. The rice can be cooked to 80-90% in the normal rice cooker and then sprinkled onto the chicken. Bake this in the oven at 325F for about an 1Hr 15minutes to an 1hr 30minutes. The chicken will be cooked very tenderly and the rise won't burn. The key to making a biry;ani with crisp rice is that the rice should be dry. This works for me every single time i cook biryani. Hope this helps:)

  • @hammadsehrish 71 people know how to cook a proper biryani

  • no need history at beginning..........rest is fine

  • What if you don't have saffron? It's hard to find saffron where I live...anything to substitute it with? Is it only for color or for flavor also? A friend of mine said he uses turmeric instead, is that a bad idea?

  • @syllirabbit Do not use turmeric, as it has a slightly bitter aftertaste if not used in minimal amounts.

Saffron is superexpensive and is used primarily for colour- the delicate flavours of saffron is not captured in the minuscule amounts that it is used in most of the modern versions of the biryani. Especially, Hyderabadi biryani is loud and spiceladen, so the saffron is a little lost in the rush.

The easy way out is to use a drop of food dye, tactically.

  • my indian friend will cook biryani tomorrow! we're so excited to try this one....

  • really i love the way u teach to cook....Doing a wonderful job....I becom a fan of urs...now its essy to learn indian food in home..no need to read any cookery book....

  • Comment removed

  • WTF, only my right ear can hear that crap.

  • @craccky lol me too!!

  • today i made it the exact same way n it was perfect thanx for teaching this .vry easy n tasty.

i have a tip to share .i saw some comments where they wrote that there biryani burnt coz of wrong estimation regarding rice.

there is a very simple method of making the rice half cooked. for example

if u take 2 bowl of rice u usually add double the amt of water i.e. 4 bowl

for this biryani instead of adding 4 bowl of water add 2 bowl of water

i.e. for 2 cups of rice add 2 cups of water :)))))))))

  • helo wellcome to my bed a my besta fooda is a...my big BLACK code
