At 2:10 I can make the Bezier Curve, but when I press "V" it doesn't flatten. What do I do?

How do you go directly from top view to side view?

It becomes a mess for me when I just alt-left-click and try to get a roughly good side view. ):

you use the Numpad buttons... NUM 1,3 and 7 get you the views. you can also use the "view menu at the bottom of the 3D viewport to goto the different views

press "V" to straiten the slected curves.
