I was just checking (via the Yusuf Ali translation) the land/sea ration that Muslims claim. I'm only through the first 15 or so suras and land is mentioned 18 times as opposed to 13 times in the entire Quran. Actually Ouspensky said the opposite before we were provided with something by which to proclaim a particular verse a miracle. You would need to do better, particularly regarding the reverse logic in that Islam does not provide the proof or evidence that science does. Nor does it give us medical treatments or anything else you can think of (unless you like flies).

I was just checking (via the Yusuf Ali translation) the land/sea ration that Muslims claim. I'm only through the first 15 or so suras and land is mentioned 18 times as opposed to 13 times in the entire Quran. When there is discrepancy between the translations, one uses Earth and the other land. Interesting.

I know. I found that the word 'month' (shahr) isn't mentioned 12 times. They included 'sharan' (months) in the count.
I know someone who found a different count for the land and sea ratio, I can't find an exact demonstration. From experience, I wouldn't trust.
I've also read of the deliberate miscounts performed by Khalifa to concoct the 19 code (esp with bismallah).
Finally, the miracles in this video are debunked by the fact that the suras are not in their traditional order of revelation.

Also, it's perfectly possible for someone to produce a sura like the Quran. The shortest sura has 3 ayat. 19ers believe in 2 false verses which were never noticed except after 1400 years. Explain how God's word can't be distinguished from man-made.

This makes it obvious that Mohammed did not undertake the division into verses. As far as the ordering of the Suras is concerned this was done by Khalif Uthman (Information from "Dictionary of Islam", pages 489-492).The division of verses or ordering of Suras, which form the Structure of Quran was not originally there but introduced later. So any miracle nature attributed involving the number of Suras or verses is not part of Quran.

So no, Arbab, I'm not satisfied.
Also, referencing to other verses does not explain the verse I was questioning. In those verses, we don't know what the Quran is saying (but it could still be meteors...because no-one knew what meteors were back then).
I'd agree with Muslims when they say: "Who cares?"

That's a better explanation. We assume these lamps are in fact the stars? People refer to gamma bursts, but they do not permanently 'adorn' the lowest heaven (in fact they are often further than Andromeda).

Statement of the Koran is in line with the fact found that Ramses II still exist in a form of a mummy. Ramses IIs mummy was found in 1881 among maintained 40 mummies in storage near Deir el-Bahari in Thebes. Buccaile (The Bible, the Quran and Science: The Holy scripture Examined in the Light of Modern Knowledge) correctly shows, that when the revelation came, the mummys existence had not already known.

Uthmans belief in the incorrectness of Quran has been testified by his own son, Aban. We read in Tafseer Qurtubi Surah Taha, verse 63:
Aban bin Uthman recited the cited verse [IN HATHANI LASAHIRANI] before his father Uthman. Uthman said: It is incorrect. Someone asked him: Why dont you correct it?. Uthman replied: Leave it there, it doesnt make any difference in respect of what is Halal and Haram.

Big Bang in Physics refers to the explosion of SPACE-TIME SINGULARITY (not matter). Matter was not even created when Big Bang happened. Earth was formed billions of years after the Big Bang. The Quranic verses are clearly referring to earth and sky being "joined" (which doesn't even have a common sense or scientific meaning) together and then being split apart (again no scientific or common sense meaning). Hence, Im a normal guy with enough sense to see that morality comes feeling a connection with the cosmos, and not relying on self-superiority as in Islam.
Because, when we examine the evidence, the Quran is at odds not only with science, but morality.
And if we have to learn Arabic to know what the Quran, than you can keep your book and its miracles. Because, the translations tell a different story.

When we sleep, our brain is in the right state to experience what is called sleep. But if the brain is destroyed, we no longer have a brain with which to experience death. This is what the Buddha meant by no-self.
Buddhism is a guide. In fact, a good atheist may in fact be called a Buddhist. Buddhism is the middle path.
One teaching is to refrain from accepting anything that doesnt agree with our reason, or common sense. Like the Quran.

Why are you asking those questions about Buddhism? I follow the teachings, not the religion. For instance: I dont believe in literal karmic rebirth. That was merely the common belief In India at the time. However, rebirth (as misnomer) is quite logical. When we die, our brain (switchboard) disintegrates. With our consciousness completely scattered, how can we be dead? But, a new consciousness will eventually form. It's not rebirth. Its a way of expressing the Buddhist concept of no-self.

Actually, as I just showed, the expansion of the universe is accelerating. Latest science says so.
Furthermore, the Quran in its biased translation says that it is steadily expanding. This implies a constant rate of expansion. Wrong.
About the images of the big crunch:
The star will have swallowed Earth before then. So the images are wrong.
Also, the universe would contract to a point, not be folded to a cylinder (pages of a book).
And the sky cannot fall.
