Overpopulation is highly overrated as an issue. Grew up in the 'baby bust' era - like Rome after the Empire . Schools had to close and consolidate for lack of students and the economy sucked.
By 2030 Earth will hit the 9 billion population mark. We need a mass die off if we are to have a happy, good life that we care about to live. Why are we all miserable? There's too many people and not enough resources to go around. When I was 9 years old, I'm 31 now, I decided to never have children. I've never been happier.
Birth rate maybe going down, but that is misleading because population is increasing due to exponential growth, the average number of children per family may have been higher during the 1950's (for example) but there were less people overall.
Doug Stanhope may be a dick but he's completely right. Having babies is terrible for the environment, and so is eating meat--but people prefer to hear about how they will save the planet by turning the lights off once in a while. We're all a bunch of lazy cowards.

I agree 100% with over population but the way it happens (using India as an example) if you have a country where 90% of the population are poor and starving and you have no state benefits, no realistic health system and no real way to support yourself if you ever get sick or too old then the best way to ensure you stay living is to depend on your children. I agree 100% with over population but the way it happens (using India as an example) if you have a country where 90% of the population are poor and starving and you have no state benefits, no realistic health system and no real way to support yourself if you ever get sick or too old then the best way to ensure you stay living is to depend on your children. The problem is the circumstances, help the 3rd world and the population will go down.
