Atlantov had a GREAT dramatic-tenor voice, a big, broad instrument with spine-tingling squillo. His Otello, though not exactly subtle, was nevertheless powerful --

El defecto de casi todos los TEnores que intrepretan el Niun mi TEma, que luego de la frase: Desdómona, Desdémona, en lugar de hacer un Sol natural pedido por Verid en !Oh! antes de !morta!, hacen un SOl sostenido o un La Bemol o en algunos casos, un La Natural. Es un misterio de por qué todos olvidamos, en ese momento, hacer una quinta justa. Yo, que lo estoy preparando para grabación profesional enfrento ese misterio.

Absolutely incredible! Sent shivers down my spine from the first to the very last note. Atlantov is so intense here. I wonder if the hoarseness (as I hear it) comes from vocal fatigue, or a cold, or if it's just an effect (which seems unlikely to me, but of course he was very well trained). It's nice to hear his always warm and friendly colour through the dramatism and heavy writing.
