These fish are one of the real treasures of saltwater tanks. They have more personality than any other fish I've seen. It has eaten food from my fingers that I dangle at the water surface.
They can and probably will eventually eat some tank mates. Mine is 3" currently and did eat a neon goby and a large peppermint shrimp!
Mine started off frozen brine and mysis, but was dirty for the tank since some don't get eaten. Moved to silverside chunks recently, it fills his belly quick.
Nothing but him. I have heard of people housing fuzzy dwarfs with other fish. I don't know how good of an idea that would be. I actually watched this particular lionfish sting a similarly sized puffer fish in the tank it was in and the puffer was pretty much paralyzed. Thew puffer was being pesky however...
I have had one of these for over a week in my 55 and so far no probs with the other tankmates which include 2 maroon clowns, 1 foxface, kole tang, yellowtail damsel, yellow watchman goby, pistol shrimp, cleaner shrimp, and 1 six line wrasse.. he has also eaten silverside chunks every other day without problems.
i just purchased a fuzzy lionfish baby im feeding it twice a day ghost shrimp.. but ive read online some people are feeding theirs once a week .. some write once every other day.... what is the correct amount and how frequent??.. please and thank you.... also the pet store guy said twice a day ..but he seemed shady that is why im asking.. please help.. thank you!!
I fed this lionfish every 3-4 days. would feed 2 ghost shrimp a feeding sometimes three. after a week I started substituting krill after the firs ghost shrimp. Started silversides the same way...if you feed ever day you will never get them to eat frozen food...they need to be hungry...I have waited as long as 1 week...hope that helps...
They are reef compatible but will eat small crustaceans, small fish, and the like. If any fish wants to fight with this type of lionfish the stingers on this guy would surely kill or severely hurt another fish. Better to keep them in a species tanks like this.
nice fish do you recomend this lionfish or wa different breed

Feed your lion fish as much as it will eat. Try feeding twice a day and from that you can establish the amount of food to feed
