I, personally myself, don't really like Windows 7, but I can live with it, but I absolutely LOVE Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit, i like everything about it, it has just about everything you need in a computer and more.
Your wireless, if it comes preinstalled on a 64 bit computer, will work on a 64 bit Windows OS. Just install Windows Vista, whatever edition you like, 64 bit. or Windows 7 or XP, or really any choice of 64 bit OS. And you can't just install Windows Vista and expect it to be 64 bit automatically, you have to install a 64 bit version of the Windows Vista, which can be obtained by calling microsoft or getting 64 bit media on their website.

A 64-bit operating system is only useful if your applications are compiled for that architecture. Otherwise, you're still running 32-bit applications.
You don't know what your talking about. Why in the hell where your tasks were did it say 4.00 GB next to Memory (RAM):.
32bits might run faster for you that is because you don't know what your doing. All computers are switching over to 64bit OS. Intel's new processors are all 64 AMD's norm is now 64. You can downgrade and mess around as long as you want mister. I'll live in the now and now. Try XP64 pro it uses the same principles without using all that extra ram vista 32 & 64 uses.
@jamesrschultz hey when i installed vista, my 64 bit changed to 32 bit. also, i think my wireless thing is not compatible with 32 bit so how do i fix it, like turn it back to 64 bit. ? plz respond i need HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP
but i asume that you try vista 64 bits, vista 32 bits can recongnize 4 gigs but use 3.25 i think only some versions ( pro, etc ) use more, you can search in microsoft site.
whit x64 ( original or NOT modified ) is 100% the pc software is going to use all the ram...
In Windows Vista/7 32-bit Ultimate and Home Premium versoins, windows uses "3.00GB" In Vista Ultimate/7Ultimate 64-bit, Windows uses "3145728KB" of RAM, which is exactly 3GB. Bios resports 4GB, and so does Windows, but only 3GB is used. The copy of x64 windows is legit from Microsoft, NO modifications or torrents. It's my Pavilion's fault. ;( Damn 64 bit too.
I have it installed now, and it seems to be working fine. However, the same thing would happen before. It would work for about 2 days, and then stop working right. I'll let you know, but as of now it's following the same steps as it did before.
btw I don't use MSN chat. I have worked with Vista for a while, and I screwed up the installation. I hate Vista sooo much, I just deleted it. I don't really care if it works or not. I couldn't get Vista to boot, and I didn't want to waste this beautiful evening trying to fix it, so I just scrapped it. Thanks for your help, but it doesn't look like we'll find out if it works any time soon.
You're an idiot to claim that all the software on X64 will use all ram. The fact is that most software that people will run on X64 will still be 32 bit and that can't address more than 4GB.
i think you have some kind of problem, vista x64 have to recognize the 4gb of ram... and i can see you have a notebook, try to change the power options to use when is plugged to electricity, the minimal processor speed set to 100% ;) check that and the other power options i have worked whit mid range and top range notebooks whit x64bits and i havent see any problems whit the speed.
I've tried all that, and still only 3GB works. I have updated the BIOS from F.31 to F.32, and I still have to try that now. Thanks for the suggestions.
ive got a question, i just got my new dell studio 3 days ago. i have 64 bit home premium. it showed i had a 450 gb hard drive and there was 420 gb free. i installed itunes, firefox and a simcity game. after that, it said i had 416 gb left. later that night, it showed 414. the next morning it said 409. then, today it showed 402. is this normal because it is new and it is still installing updates? could someone please reply?
Hmm, that does not sound normal at all, unless of course you are importing a lot of music or adding a lot of stuff. Updates would usually never take up that much space, and so many is unheard of. Let me know what happens today and tomorrow, and we'll work it out.
Just wait till win7 comes out.. It runs faster than vista and is a lot better as far as how things look. I have the beta for win7 and have it installed on my 5 year old PC and it runs really well compared to how vista ran on the same 5 year old computer.. Win7 is an all over improved version that vista.
Yes! I love Windows 7, please check out my channel for a whole bunch of reviews on Build 6801, 6956, and 7000 (Beta 1). There are also many more to come. I put Windows 7 Beta 1 on an old ThinkPad T42 with 512MB of RAM, and it uses 50%. With Vista on the same computer, it uses about 90%. I love 7!
it looks amost like vista because it's built on vista.. They took vista and rebuilt it so that it has better performance than vista has.. Under win7 beats the heart of vista.
Being thats the case, Vista runs just good as XP, on my computer, so 7, should run like I have 2000 on my computer, but I won't get 7, until its been out at least a year, as a final release.
Ya I wouldn't buy it untill Win7 has been out atleast a year. Well atleast till the first service pack has been released. I have the beta and it runs really well, I can't wait to see the final release..
Technology is moving toward 64bit and 32 will eventually be obsolete. An example is Windows 95 running at 16 bit and progressing to Windows 2000/xp at 32 bit (huge difference). 32 bit windows can only support up to 3gb of ram where 64 can quadruple that. Sure it will take more hard drive space, but hard drives are dirt cheap now as with memory. As for wasting money, it is only 10 bucks or so more for the 64 bit. DirectX 10 will be far better for games as well.
That is very true. However, I don't think that the people you think they need everything 100% update should really have x64. I don't think I have should have 64-bit, but I like it because Windows apps are a lot faster. But for most people, compatibility is not there yet.
They say though that 64 bit is more secure, me I download all my files and videos on Flash drives so the only thing I use my hard drive for is operating system. I am most interested in the ultimate in security. I don't do gaming or high end stuff, I'm just a basic computer user who want's the best security possible. I'm thinking 64 bit Vista Ultimate for me, I have AMD triple core processor, 3 GB RAM, 320 GB HD. My machine is fast for what i do.
I totally agree. I really dislike AMD, but I don't hate it as much as I thought I would. I have an IBM ThinkPad Z61t with an Intel Centrino Duo T2500, with two cores of 2.00GB and a MB cache on each core. I like that a lot better, but I can't run x64 on it.
You know what happened to my CPU score wen I upgraded from Vista 32 to 64? In 32 Vista Ultimate, my CPU score was a 4.1. But when I upgraded to Vista Ultimate 64, IT CHANGED TO 4.0! GAY! Ya, Vista 64 is just basically the same... OR even worse... then 32. Great Video!
I, personally myself, don't really like Windows 7, but I can live with it, but I absolutely LOVE Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit, i like everything about it, it has just about everything you need in a computer and more.

On my most recent try with x64:
4GB DDR2 800MHz
Intel Core 2 Duo 4GHz L2 4MB
250GB 10,000RPM
512MB Intel Vcard
I think it can handle it. I just don't think 64 bit is an efficient operating system.

yeah 64 bit is for high end rigs not for 2 gig ram and a not so great cpu
if you had a system with 4 gig 1066 ram and say like a e8400 oc and a awesome gpu you would probably love 64 bit
