Good knockdown and awesome truck ops. Not sure if an exterior line should have been used with guys inside but these guys are pros they must have been clear. The only thing I would disagree with is the front door not being chocked/ripped off. Ladder placement is spot on and done professionally you'd be surprised how many ladders that size get dropped especially the wooden ones. Great job brothers.
@jacobeast1 I don't think it was much of a problem. They only used it to put out that small little banner thingy (forget what they are called) which was a hazard to any operating inside or under it, so it was a smart thing to do. However I don't see how the front door is a problem either. It was holding it's own and with two large windows to the left and right, getting out of the structure isn't a problem. The only major concern I have is with that little A/C unit above the door. That's a hazard
@Himdarling44 As I said, not sure if the guys were still inside. If not, no reason not to knock it down. If so, it could've waited til they were clear. Chocking/ removing the door negates any impingement on the hose line. Loss of water in any structure, even when you have multiple egress, can get a guy killed. A/C needs to go you're right about that. Different dept., different SOP.
@jacobeast1 You are very correct. The first hoseline in should have knocked down the parapet thing and then gone inside and from the video, they may have hit the inside then took a step back and knocked it then went in. Hard to tell. After watching the vid a second time, I did see the door close on the hoseline. I didn't see that the first time I watched the vid. So nice catch.
Los Angeles does not use the position of LT. There are Captain I and Captain II positions. Captain I commanders oversea an Engine Crew. Captain II commanders oversee a Truck Company. The red helmets are for ARSON investigators. They are also armed, just like police officers, although they are firefighters.
@4alarmer - The Los Angeles Fire Department does not have a rank of Lt. In the LAFD, officers are Captain I (engine Company Commander), and Captain II (Station Commander). A CII is also responsible for a Truck (Ladder) company.
Oh I saw the engineer kind of doing a split pull on the hose . How many times do you see on You tube lousy hose pulls to close to the house. Nice work.
Good catch. I did not have the actual dispatch and my editor just tossed in an assignment that was "handy." As this is just a demo clip, I am hoping it won't cause too many comments! I promise the feature film will be dead balls accurate.
Um what do the different helmet colors mean? Red vs. Yellow?

@jacobeast1 that should have been pulled right at the start, to avoid it crushing someone.

After years of wondering I finally found out what that buldge in the LAFD turnout gear is. Pretty neat place to store scba masks and gloves.

The red bag is a "rope bag"
JoeDiesels 1 year ago
@JoeDiesels The LAFD refers to these as "Drop bags" but you're right, they contain rope.

@LAFD027
why do they have to be armed ?? pretty cool all the same
TuPaCThADoN06 1 year ago
@TuPaCThADoN06 - They are armed because they in effect have an enforcement role that includes making arrests in collaboration with law enforcement.

@4alarmer Red Helmets are used by Arson Investigators.
LAFD027 1 year ago

tatatimmaa44 1 year ago
@tatatimmaa44 - In the LAFD, RED helmets are designated to ARSON. Company and Station Commanders wear ORANGE helmets.
