It looks as if this is an old post, but if you still read the replies, what is your overall impression of the T5? My local shop has one (used) identical to the one your playing, and from my limited playing of it I like it alot. They're selling it for $999. Good deal? Bad deal? What'dya think?

@smacman68 Sorry for the delay in responding - don't get on here often. Honestly, It may be a great guitar but it was never right for me, which is why I sold it. That sounds super cheap! I think I sold mine for $2300!

I mispoke. It is similiar to the one you had. This one listed $1499 brand new, and the used one was $1k. That's about right. I passes on it as well. I tend to play heavier, metal type music, and I just could not get the bottom end I needed, although it was a nice playing guitar. Ended up with a Les Paul Studio.

I recorded this and made it up on the spot for an eBay video because I decided to sell the guitar. I really never got in to it. It did sell quickly, and videos of the actual instrument always help sell them even if you can't play well. If somebody held a gun to my head and said "play that again" or else, I would have a large hole in my skull.

Taylor T5 , beautiful guitar but somehow don't like how it sounds. I woudn't say that it's an electric-acoustic guitar, it's rather a half electric - half acoustic one ( a bit "handicapped" ). I was planning to buy one but not anymore. Dissapointed ... after I've watched almost all the videos on youtube about T5...

I have a T5-C2 and it is hands down my favorite guitar. It plays and sounds like a dream. I have other very high end guitars (Gibson Les Paul, PRS McCarty, PRS Tremonti Signature, etc) but the T5 with the Koa is hands down in a league of its own. Also, yes, the Koa makes a world of difference in the sound produced. Mainly when using the body sensor and the pickup under the fretboard.

I'm in the market for a hollow body. How could you compare the T5 to a jazzy hollowbody like Gretsch makes? Do you think you could use the T5 for that jazz/blues sound too? Thanks!

I have not played many Gretsch's but I am not convinced the qualtiy is accross the board with Gretsch like it is with Taylor. With Taylor you need not worry about getting a lemon. T5 would be great for Jazz especially with all the different configs of the 3 pickups. The Riff is yours. Have fun!

This guitar was especially nice, and especially rich looking. I think there is probably not that much difference in the maple tops and the KOA - they all are going to have distinctive T5 sounds.

Thanks for the comment. I used a Fender Blues Jr with just a bit of reverb. No effects. Enjoy your new T5 and let me know when you post some video with it.

I would find the cheapest used one on eBay I could find in good condition. It will sound very similar to this one. Seems like a lot of people buy T5's and decide its not the guitar for them, especially if you want to use it for loud rock, so there are a lot available.

Hah! I know what you are saying. I have played this guitar a bit this week and am really likeing it, especially after re-stringing it last week. I really never played it, and will probably regret selling it. The only thing that bothers me is it is too easy to leave the cord plugged in and run the battery down.
