the new stuff does remind me of older Slayer which is a good thing. Been a fan since '84~85 and IMO RIB was there master peace. As far as 'Thrash' goes its all perspective. Slayer, Venom, Exodus even early Motorhead were considered speed metal. 2~3 minute songs that were fast, hard & heavy. Progressive metal like Metallica, Testament, Anthrax, Megadeth had 5~6 minute song with a little more structure to them. Still heave but more drawn out. Over 30 years people still bickering over whats better?

i'd take death magnetic, an awesome album that covers the mistake known as st. anger over slayer's crappy music or noise which you ever you prefer to call it. HERES HOW SLAYER WORKs. Kerry plays a fast minor riff, the other guitarist plays it a couple of frets away. the drummer hits the snare on every count to attempt to make it sound better i guess? i don't know but it doesn't help. the bassist plays fast noise. the singer screams words you can't understand into a crappy mic. that's SLAYER.
