  • Great news for Queensland! Great news for accountability in Queensland's parliament.

  • Welcome to the Greens Ronan. It was a brave move on your part and its what is needed in this state to tackle the real environmental challenges facing us.

  • And one more thing: some people are making a big deal of how he should resign. What do they say to the Liberal and Nationals members who are no longer members of the same party as when they were elected? Given that the Nats seem to have taken over the Libs, I wonder how well this will play in areas the Nats couldn't win (like most urban electorates)? At least Ronan stills stands for the principles he was elected on.

  • lol are you serious? the greens are opposed to the traveston dam and the LNP want to get rid of it but the hypocritical greens will still preference the ALP in marginal seats because you car more about ideology then the actual environment

  • LNP is better than the ALP on TWO environmental issues (look up the other one). Google environment score card queensland and you'll see the combined environmental score card of various groups is Greens 80.5% Labor 50.5% LNP 24%. If you want ideologues who don't care about the environment the LNP fit the bill. Mine uranium, dam every river (except at Traveston), fish to extinction, fell every tree. ALP is bad; LNP is terrible.

  • yep and who invents the score? people who hate the conservatives.

isnt that what the greens are: green on the outside but red on the middle.

ive read your constitution and economically you're more left-wing then labor.

  • You have to ask yourself why environmentalists hate you. Anyway you are not conservatives. You are reactionaries. Big difference. At least Greens don't support welfare for big multinationals which is what spending tens of billions of dollars on doubling Qld's capacity to export coal by 2015 amounts to. This investment will never be recovered because worldwide caps on carbon emissions will slow coal demand long before increased royalties on coal have repaid the capital cost.

  • environmentalists hate us because the majority of them are the people who were even more extreme then the labor party. i would respect the greens if they were a party purely about the environment but you're more extreme then labor. a vote for the greens is a vote for the traveston dam this saturday.

and you call us reactionaries? and what are the greens? you would compromise millions of jobs and our entire economy.

  • Many libs are environmentalists. It's their party that's out of touch and supports welfare for multinationals. Some I spoke to on Saturday agreed, just too hide-bound to switch parties. Why do you support spending $32-billion on doubling coal exports? The jobs involved are in thousands, not millions, and the same investment in clean technologies would create many more jobs. Your views are from the 19th century.

  • For anyone who thinks he could have achieved more staying in Labor, I have a 2-word answer: Peter Garret.
