very smooth...I love jazzy blues and it doesn't get much better than this....keep it up boys...

  • i love this guy..i`ve grabbed some of his liocks..thanks brother

  • Marty, is there something wrong with your wesite? It hasnt been working all week.

  • Hi i am from russia my english not so good but i rly like your lessons man ! Keep do that i look always your lessons... But i have a problem with a free 34 minutes lessons i dont undestend what i should do for got it xDDD

  • I love the enthusiasm in this video. But get a bit technical the spot they're talking about is the 3rd position minor pentatonic scale. All guitar players should know this scale in every position, you should be able to play your licks anywhere on the neck. It's not a secret hidden spot, there are more, just look into the theory

  • your duo lessons are the best you've done, keep coming up with cool different riffs. Ill admit i was getting a bit bored with your lessons but lately theyve been great!

  • oh my god the way the both of yall opened the video make some one wannt to learn how to play im a super beginner lol but im a put some hard work in to lean how o playlike that wow the both of yaall ARE REALLY GOOD

  • nice !

  • Bob, did you Mod your amp? And or you tuned down a half step dude are what? Also Marty is a hater of our lakers.

  • @qtip1064 yeah just had an internal bias knob added that surprisingly it did not come with, but stock other than that. a local red hot player in san diego jeff snyder is a amp guru. look him up, his amps are pretty well known. he does all are amp at buffalo bros. gtr. store where i work. bob

  • This guy is good!

  • Awesome video !

  • Marty, you sound so enthused to be sharing this info...I think that's why I and so many others dig your videos. You obviously love sharing the music almost as much as playing it. It sets you apart from the other 'teachers' on youtube, imo.

  • Can you play the song Rain by Breaking Benjamin.

  • AWESOME SAUCE!!!!

  • GO LAKERS!

  • Simply amazing. It's 12:40pm where I am... and it's taking a ton of will power to not crank on the amp and wake the neighbors trying this thing out.

  • knew bob was in this one before we even saw him... very distinctive (and beautiful) playing now that i've heard a bit of him. great stuff as always guys! keep 'em comin!

  • The Strats are Awesome!

  • You guys freakin' ROCK!

Marty I got your Solo Blues DVD in your Blues Secret Weapon Bundle.. On the DVD you show a Hammer on-Pull off lick.. A short lick that sounds so cool.. UMMM As a beginner am I supposed to pick that up right away? I can do the hammer on part but that Pull off is just rippin my finger apart, and even then it isn't very loud.. Pull offs are good for Acoustic guitars as well?..

  • Marty's totally baked in these videos...gotta be...look at his eyes...hahahaha

  • that guy can really play!! Just when you think your getting good, some bald dude rocks your boat.......back to the bedroom for me! Thanks Marty!

    toby

  • "a little spot not to overlook"..... i thought for a second i was getting another lecture from my ex girlfriend....lol...thanks for the lesson marty.

  • @Rocinante64 lol!

  • Please vote for us, go to the playcrossroads website and type in fat_slap after it. Thank you

  • John Mayer uses this position a ton (due to BB King's influence no doubt). If you like his style, get used to this one!

    examples in his playing:

Good Love is on the Way

    Come When I Call (solo)

    Everyday I Have the Blues

  • Comment removed

  • @kevlar1818 problem is jon mayer doesnt write his songs. david coax rights all of jons stuff. coax is a big BBking fan tho

  • your married????

  • @boarderrob331 married almost 11 years!!! 2 kids as well, 3 dogs and a fish!!!

  • LAKERS SUCK!!!...still lov u ryan, lol

  • @jburke5 bend the string with the strength of index, middle, and ring, together and keep at it.

  • i am so interested in the lick at 2:46 until 2:50

  • this is the best blues lesson ever

  • mr ryan looks like he still loves playing, very inspirational

  • i could sit here all day watching you guys jam. fun lesson

  • I feel like my head is going to explode! Too much information. :-)

Back to the advanced beginner lessons for me!

Bob, What are you doing with that strat? I thought you were a Tele man..

  • Hey Bob , dude, what type of pups you have there dude. And r u using a pedal? Two If lovin the Lakers is wrong then I don't want to be right brotha!

  • @qtip1064 yeah qtip just kidding thats probably not your name, these pickups i'm using are very early EMG pickups love them too. love love the Fender product but the pickups are to noisy when in the studio or doing tv work. Marty and i are both plugged into my blues deluxe. no pedals i have a big pedal board but we're not using anything but some reverb. thanks bob

  • what pickups are on that strat?

  • @SDM305 He has early EMG pups on that strat dude.

  • Liiiiiiiiiiiiiike magic.... ")

  • Steve Ray Vaughan!!!

  • thanks again man you are so cool:)

  • lovely work guys! Thank you

  • OMG. guess I will not sleep tonight. too much sweetness!

  • Marty, the beauty of this is even though you are the Jedi master you still have your Yoda to guide and teach you to even a higher level! Learning never stops, when we stop learning new things we are worm food. IT is all about the music!

  • @EJRR7 Pretty sure the whammy bar is exactly like Bob likes it

  • @SoutheastBluesMan thanks for the support the bar is exactly how i like it. one week we'll do a lesson on what i can do with it. not to be weird but i'm pretty close that bar. ha ha

  • Marty --- dude you always have just the dopest s**t -- always useful and fun -- but, dude, that guy was just sick! Like buttah! So smooth! Thanks to both for sharing!

  • great odins raven!

    outstanding guys

  • thanks everybody for the nice comments. lets see its a original 62' re issue i've had since 1981. i'm on the 6th set of frets. there's no more rosewood so i can't re fret it again. not a relic i bought it new!! i love the fact you guys are diggin me and Marty thanks again and please keep playin and learning. bob ryan

  • Mr Ryan, I love the way you walk that blues/country line like a champ! If you could do a lesson on how you do those double stops that seem to run half the neck...I can't figure it out, but I am sure you and Marty can make it make sense. Either way, please keep doing vids--maybe some paisley inspired with that awesome tangerine tele!!!!

  • @kfrancispharmd thanks thats an apt description of my playing and Francis is it ? one day we will do a lesson on the double stops, a huge part of my playing. a very musical option for all of your playing... bob

  • bob ryan is amazing. great lesson. thanks marty

  • Marty, great lesson,Bob rocks, keep em coming

  • bob ryan rips it up!

  • Dreamteam, guys !!

  • Thats right baby ! Lakers for life!! Nice lesson to btw !

  • awsome

  • Is that an original strat or a custom shop relic? Looks pretty sweet!!! (Oh, Marty, yours is ok too ;))

  • Marty, hows the Crossroad Festival going?

  • Can I get the same sound out of my Strat? It's a Strat 50th Anniversary. Would I have to put new pick ups in it? I hope not cause I don't want to take away from its value

  • @BeatleUniversity Whose Strat are you talking about? Alot depends on the amp too man

  • Great lesson

  • This is a fantastic tutorial! It reminds me of my old guitar lesson days! Thank you so much! Great work!

  • Great Scott...that was beautiful playing, Mr. Ryan!

  • now THAT was some tasty stuff, fellas...

  • Great job guys!

  • Ok gonna show my OCD here. you have a loose thread on your left sleeve on the brown jacket youve got to cut it off. haha. just sayin.

  • that was tastiriffic

  • the stumble-freddie king..bob knows how to get down...yeah

  • Wow, jam packed with goodies. lots of uptown blues b.b. style and and I like that mr. Ryan get's a bit jazzy in the last licks.

Very interresting stuff. Maybe you could dive some more into this in "Platinum VIP club"

  • Great lesson Marty. I just got my blues domination 10 dvd set. I must say, I'm really enjoying it.

  • not tryin to be rude but...my ears just came...

  • Oh yeah! Bob is back! yeeeea!

  • I actually stumbled upon this part of the scale today when I was messing around, normally I can't make anything work in that section, but today, something clicked. And now I watched this video, so inspiring, keep it up

  • Astounding stuff. Like you said though Marty. There is just so much that it would be really great if it was broken down a lot more. I will have to watch this so many times to try to get it all digested. AAAAA+

  • Strats... best guitars ever made. Period.

  • i guess thats synergy of two awesome blues guitarists :-)

  • You use that same pick for all types of music Marty... what gauge is it?

  • Ya thats good stuff.Been playing a electric guitar now for lil over a week.Music like that is reason im wanting to learn.Nice video as always Marty

  • Are the pick-ups on Bob's guitar Lace Sensor pick-ups? I've been thinking of getting those.
