  • i think you capitalize on your cute figure vs. talent - the choreography is just horrid - a bunch of different moves thrown in there -

  • @simplicitykitty - That's my daughter at 17 years old. Yes she has a cute figure, but let me tell you something sweetheart, that is all improv. Let's see you do better! Why do bellydancers have the driving need and desire to tear each other down? People like this should be ashamed of themselves! Isn't bellydance supposed to be about love, sharing and building each other up?! This kind of attitude is shameful. Yet it runs rampant in our art form. :(

  • @DelilahRa so you feel the need to be a 'mother bear' when someone criticizes your dtr on YT? why post then? i don't care how old she is, you must be a stage mom like those 'toddlers and tiaras' kind, fat, ugly losers and living vicariously thru your daughter - i think stage moms like Y OU should be ashamed of themselves - if you don't want criticism, don't post.. i don't care if it's improvised or not, the dance is terrible, see my comments above - it gives bellydance a BAD name - ugh

  • @simplicitykitty Not a stage Mom, Not fat, NOT ASHAMED. How good were you at 17? This is at a dance festival, not a show, so I don't see how it gives bellydance a "bad name" . Let's see one of your performances. How about you show me how it's done. As for your comparing me to one of those sickos living through their daughters, there's nothing you could have sad to offend me more. I'm also a dancer. I don't need to live through my daughter. Search for "sunshower mystik dream" critique away.

  • @simplicitykitty I would welcome any specific critiques about things you didn't like :) However I feel like maybe you didn't watch the whole video - this was structured improvisation and if you watch, certain elements of the chorus and bridges are choreographed in a way that I feel fit the music. If it is not to your taste, perhaps check out one of my more recent videos! :) Also, I had a broken toe . . . it was a bit distracting. ;)

  • @nefabit hola! perhaps my criticism was a bit harsh, i apologize - your arms/legs are just flailing all over the place w/ a lack of control - u start off waaay too strong so you have to try to 'outdo' yourself during the piece - overall i truly think you could do a LOT better, bc you have the potential, more grace, better training, etc and i think you'd be a terrific dancer ....

  • @simplicitykitty Oh I totally agree, my arm carriage was not very good in this video - again, my other videos will show I have improved over the years. I always learn from my videos and I am constantly seeking improvement from any source possible. :) Trust me, it's not really a surprise to tell me this video needs improvement. I am not where I want to be yet, but I can confidently say I have improved in leaps and bounds over the past several years.

  • No me gusta para nada a destiempo con la musica y es muy desarmada para bailar. Cero definición en los movimientos, sólo le falta más practica y postura.

  • She very pretty. I am Gurdheep.

  • This is nice but you are anticipating almost all of the accents; like you are ready to hit them a full second before they come; it's better to be late than anticipate

And during the verses, the melody is much slower, and you were doing undulations at record speed...

    but still nice...

  • Hi there

Please keep in mind that this is YouTube, and depending on your connection, the video can lag. :) On most computers, and in the original video I'm perfectly on beat.

  • me gusto!, bastante original la coreo, y me encanta los shimmies de 3:02 WoooW!!!! : o

  • ¡Gracias tanto! :)

  • Getting better.. :)

  • P.S. Who ever gave you that negative comment, is probably either jealous that you are American and can belly dance or just out right ignorant!! I have a video posted. Please feel free to critique it constructively. Thanks for posting!!

  • Aw, thanks!

I sometimes think the same thing. I think sometimes those from the middle east have a hard time accepting how popular this dance is - and how good American dancers are. It's ironic, but when you think about it makes sense. We have so many resources available to us, so many ways and opportunities to learn.

  • I think your interpretation of this song is great! The choreography is creative and you have some nice isolations and layering. Just a suggestion"(add some more moves to distinguish the chorus from the bridge. I'm no means a professional dancer, but I know what to look for. Keep up the good work. The song is great and you have inspired me to dance to this song!!

  • Hi!

Thanks for your constructive comments. I'm glad you liked it. This is actually from a while ago, and my isolation have gotten so much better than then that looking back on it makes me cringe sometimes lol. And good critique! I'll think about that in the future. :)

    Thanks again

  • im happy that you know this song and love it

u were great dancing to these rythmes!! but i was wondering how did u get to know this song?

  • Thanks!

I saw another dancer perform to this song. It was very graceful and it inspired me, so about a year or so later I decided to perform to it myself!

    I'm glad you liked it!

  • Amazing :)

Beautifully graceful, Keep it up hun ^.^

    *favorites*

  • Thank you! ^_^

  • I lovwe your backbends while spinning.

  • Thanks so much! It's one of my favorite things.

  • so lovely, a joy to watch

  • Aww thanks!

  • That was really cute! You are very talented and you have great shimmies. Your shimmy with chest lifts layering reminded me a little of Sadie.

And I don't think the stage presence was bad at all.

  • Aw, thank you! I'm glad you didn't think my stage presence was bad. And wow, Sadie! ^_^

    Thanks for your comment!

  • Very beautiful performance! :) Your video is on my favorites! Keep on the good work! *

    Kisses from a Portuguese Bellydancer*

  • Thank you very much!

  • That was a beautiful, graceful performance :-) You look magnificent and I liked your choice of music, for the record :-)

  • Thank you so much! I really appreciate it! :D

  • Thanks so much to all those who came out and supported me! It was very encouraging!

  • Actually, I think that the way to judge a song is by its rhythm. This song has wonderful rhythm and beautiful sound. I was inspired by it, and that is what counts in the end. That's what makes a good performance. I'm sorry you did not enjoy my selection of music, but I did, and clearly the audience did as well.

  • thats probably because they have never heard arabic music before. anyway not here to fight, at the end you are a great bellydancer just wished you picked one of her better songs to bellydance to..

  • We American bellydancers can never please those of you from the Middle East. If we use American music, or even Middle Eastern style music compose by Americans, you get mad and say it's not bellydance music. Then I pick something by a Middle Eastern pop star, and apparently it's still not bellydance music! And you know what? I can't speak Arabic, so I don't know what these songs are about. But I try. I look up the lyrics to my songs, but they aren't always available. (continued)

  • However, thank you at least for the last comment, I do very much appreciate it. Like it or not, we Americans don't understand everything we should, but we do try. And you know, you don't understand our culture either. I, too am not here to argue, but it hurts my feelings that you didn't have anything nice to say about my performance. I like that song. If you don't, that's your personal opinion. Here in America we have a saying "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all".
