God loves you no matter what you do. Way I understand confession is that, it's scary. You are humbled, AND a person is there to tell you stuff like, what to do, how to kind of get out of that sin. You are talking to God, you're confessing to God through a Priest. Believe me... Besides the scripture battles and blah blah, I've actually been to Confession, and you are simply FREE! Problem with that is that anyone can come along and make up some bullshit and claim it is "oral tradition"
Unless they can get the WHOLE clergy of the Catholic church to agree with a change in this tradition for the sake of this evil thing you're implying how Catholics change tradition just so we can have power or whatever you're trying to say... Protestants have changed it many times, even taking out 7 whole books from the old testament.
A priest is a human being, many human beings are "untrustworthy" surely you do not expect to try and back up that EVERY pastor (as a human being) is much more trustworthy than EVERY Priest (As a human being) right? The Catholic church has had MUCH power in history. The original Church (Catholic) was in charge of the world, not any King or Emporor. Priests can't reprisent God just walking around normal everyday, but God uses the holy spirit through them and many non priests... That is just a failure on your part to understand the Catholic faith...
It is apparent you do not view the Catholic Church in a good light. I am sorry your experience was a really bad one, but you cannot speak for the large number who experience a church that offers, hope, validation, and freedom, despite what some of it's members are doing.

The church can't VALIDATE any of it's mythical stories. FREEDOM, comes w/ a price. The Catholic religion does not believe in freedom, unless you tow the line, and believe unconditionally in everything they're selling.
One's belief, or disbelief in a supreme being and religion are 2 VERY different things.
