I used to know a Joshua, which is another version of the same name, since Jesus would have actually been called "Yeshua". In my earlier comment I meant that Josephus mentioned someone who was spoken of as Jesus is supposed to have been spoken of. But there are several faith healers even today. So it could have been another.

Catholics call the priest, father, when the bible teaches we have but one Father in Heaven. Also, they confess their sins to the priest, when Jesus is our High Priest in which we should confess our sins directly to Him.
Also, they invented Purgatory, which is nowhere mentioned in the bible.
Still some will be saved in all walks of life.

As for the confession it is clearly stated in one of the gospel that Jesus himself invested upon the apostels he power to absolve.As for purgatory it is mention somwhere in Isah if memory serves.
