hey i need to know if i can install maschine on two computers?! i bought a laptop and i plan on installing maschine on it. i really hope i can........
funny, I found this video while looking to see if the 1.7.2 update gave us time stretching in Maschine! I love Maschine, its wicked fast to sample and slice like a beast, but the weakest link apart from the clock which you mention is the time stretching...i still use battery to stretch out parts without killing pitch etc...anyway, good blogspot, constructive criticism..
Hey man, nice video it's good to hear some constructive criticism as well as a lot of thumb's up for this product. I'm looking into getting one and I'm a logic pro 9 user. How easy is it too integrate maschine with, or within ( as a plug-in) Logic? For example could i start jamming get a nice beat down maybe a bassline in maschine then just drag and drop into logic onto Audio tracks or onto a maschine plug-in midi track? Just wondering, thanks!
@dilliot2k Yo i agree man, That timestretch needs to be done!, i have to plug the wav into audacity to slow down my samples. And note to all these haters. dilliot2k is not dissing on maschine, hes voicing his opinion and suggesting that maschine make the changes that we want instead of focusing on measly Komplete 8 integration. - fellow maschine user
Look here.. you can't expect a drum machine/sampler to do a work of a sequencer... Know that most of the people buy this to an addition of their equipments. It's not supposed to replace the way you make music but supplement it by making you focus on creativity. I think you are the one whos confused here.. Maschine is used INSIDE a DAW like fl studio, logic, sonar, pro tools, etc. You might use it as standalone but it's not MEANT to be a full DAW-like program. You use it to layout drums n sample
@blo0magic Do me a favor and tell me where exactly does native instruments state what maschine is "Meant to be". And Also tell me where I said it's supposed to be a DAW.
@dilliot2k Yes. Ofcourse it's not always meant for one thing. It depends on what you use it for but you really just know it. In a way, obvious. I mean you look at the thing and it clearly shows that it is meant to be a drum machine/sampler. Look at the program itself, you don't actually make full composition on it. Like i said, it's merely a tool. Yes it is considered a sequencer but the fact that you compared it to DAWs made people get confused. You can't compare a SEQUENCER to a DAW
Timestretch is definitely a necessity. More so, pattern/pad mutes that are recordable (for hip-hop). And they need to fix the damn bug when you hit right on the 1, it shows up at the very end of the pattern, a split second before the downbeat, thus the need to quantize or drag it to the right spot. Everything you're saying needs to be implemented, and the whole Komplete integration means NOTHING to me and most people. We want and deserve a fully powerful standalone controller/DAW. Wake up, NI!
@dilliot2k Sweet :) I have to admit that I'm one of those 'deeply embittered' Kore users so Sowari got up my snout with his constant put-downs. I thought it was just Kore users he had it in for but then, as you mention, he takes a pop at disgruntled Maschine users too. I hope NI sort it out and give you what you want (your requests and needs seem reasonable to me). Nice to converse with you, sir. :)
I totally agree with you... when I bought Maschine I thought they would improve it to make at least the same things I can do on my MPC, but no... in the end I sold it.
what I need is a better sample editor (like the one by JJOS), sidechaining, timestretch...
The music sequencer (or simply sequencer) is a device or computer software to record, edit, play back the music, by handling note and performance information in several forms, typically : MIDI, CV/Gate, and possibly audio and automation data for Plug-ins and DAWs. Maschine does these things, therefore it IS a sequencer.
Actually Everything you're saying is false,All you mention that the machine can't do,It does,Obviously you don't know how to use it properly. Also Machine is a Groove/Sampler Not a Sequencer so yes you're not going to see a time frame.Real Musicians really don't need a time frame because they can mentally figure out the time so that's no problem there, far as time stretching you actually can.don't what version you have but I do it all the time with no problems
@bigman72511 Check my work out to see if I know how to use it properly before you come to that conclusion and you see that actually everything I'm saying is true. I think you are grossly misunderstanding what I'm talking about, or you are just solely intent on staying with your belief that I'm wrong, which is fine with me. It's ok, so many more people agree with what i'm saying .
There is nothing that Maschine does that Ableton and drum rack won't do easier, better and faster. And if you buy Ableton and a Korg pad controller, you have everything the Maschine does and a thousand things more.
I thought that Maschine would at least be a decent browser for NI products, but NI fucked that up also. No ratings, and searching and new format is a joke now.
And because NI dumped Kore, they are probably working on a true sound design/hardware controller/browsing product, but would have to update or change formats yet again. total clusterfuck. NI has really gone downhill.
@guillenrossi Dubspot has a good tutorial. Youtube won't let me post links so Google using-native-instruments-maschine-w-ableton-live-video-tutorial
Maschine is NOT a sequencer though!!! That's what you're missing Dillie! It's all about the beats, it's not meant to be used without a DAW! I use Maschine with PT9 HD, which does what maschine doesn't because, you forget, Maschine is just an extended Virtual Instrument, NOT NOT NOT a sequencer.
@dilliot2k In fairness I agree with a lot of your points (and you make them well!) but Infinity does have a point. I use Maschine with Ableton and/or Logic, not by itself, and all the things you are missing are provided by them.
You hate clicking, me too! With Maschine and my APC20 I can rinse out tunes without touching the mouse or keyboard.
Anyhoo, glad to have discovered your flicks. Most talking heads on YouTube are inadequate wankers who love the sound of their own tinny voice. You aren't
@InfinityEnterprises I believe the wording is whats mayby preposterous. Its not a DAW. And I dont want it to be. NI has time stretching pro in Kontakt. You can purchase time stretching programs all in the audio industry. Maschine is not meant to be PT, Ableton, Reason Record etc. You can route and track out maschine in most D A Ws. On my box it says groove production studio, not daw. This is only my experienced opinion. Slam it if you like.
@PreachingBeats But if Native Instruments DID add time strectch and side chain (which I think they'll do eventually) it could potentially give it's competition a run for it's money (MPC's for example). If it did evolve into a DAW (it may eventually) it would be one of the best in the game, as long as they kept the focus on music making and left mastering and post production to the other guys.
I agree on alot of the points, to say 1.7 isn't worth much I disagree with but the lack of certain basic features still irritates me. though I do understand that they need to do an engine rebuild in order to get alot of the features we want like scrolling playhead, real time timestretch, tempo mapping etc. I think it was a smart business move to include the komplete integration as more revenue = more money for R&D but yeah there is alot I want.
@dilliot2k thanks, but you are totally right with this video. right now I am pissed, because of not being able to browse through my new Dubstep-sample-kit..on the controller. I just reminded your video ..Komplete 8 IS a hell of a product...but Native Instruments seem to go the apple-way of business...And I want Timestretch right now..have lots of samples in the wrong BPM..damn!! Do you know a good plugin for timestretching?

What's Up Dillio? I had a quick question for you. Have you ever used Maschine internal midi routing to trigger an internal Maschine VST? Example: Maschin triggering 7 Aliens Catanya to be specific? If so could you plese run a tutorial on this as this is the exact setup that I have and cannot get any assistance from the manufacturer that I BOUGHT Catanya from. Thanks Bruh.
diolliot2k, what a unique observation about song length. I've been checking out Maschine and that the first that I was looking for. I was like wtf? Ok, you've got all these "scenes" but how long is the actual song... very confusing...
automation is a joke in maschine, in ableton or FL i can automate like a dream, that is virtually a pain in my ass with maschine, they really need to overhaul the Piano roll though the velocity bars respond bad and not as quick as FL or Ableton....1.8 better cover these issues....
why not use maschine with ur DAW, such as Ableton i side chain with maschine, but all in all.......its hard going from a full use DAW to a Limited DAW , YES it affected me, if i wanted an update i would cover everything u sed, have a visible time code...other quick features in the piano roll are a pain in my ass with maschine, they need to focus on real updates to the professionalism of the DAW its self, because by its self, u can not make a complete Mastered track, idk sum may say otherwise
I Agree, Maschine is great, but i use it with Ableton, FL Studio was my bread and butter for many years, and i think Maschine has a ton of little things it needs to change to make it a better DAW by its self....Maschine its self is great because u can construct a beat extreamly quicker then most other daws.....i feal u on this topic what is NI's priorities with maschine, and where can i post to NI for changes with Maschine?
Im going to wait for the MPC 6000XXL to come out...it has lighted pads, 24 bit sampling, firewire, usb A + B, AUTOTUNE, AUTOCHOP, a vocorder, and a XY pad like the kaoss-thingy, and a color screen that you can watch dvds on...plus an input for a kick pedal, so you can play it like a bass drum...
man im just trying to get this controller to light up and work....tried different cable, tried different usb port, reloaded drivers....still no success....but my usb keyboard will work....you think its a defective controller?
Nice point about the arpeggiator...I wish it included one but I plan on using the one on my keyboard workstation....still waiting on mines in the mail so I got to work with it to find the flaws but thus far it will kick my korg electribe's ass.
Yeah bro you nailed it theres little things I miss to I'm coming from Cubase with Komplete 7, I've noticed these things to when I crossed over to Maschine it's a great tool for production the workflow is awsome hopefully they'll get it together cause everything else to me right now is obsolete...
this maschine business seems more marketing than anything else. i come from a background of having used an SP1200 as well as a range of MPCs. At this point, Ableton is killing all of them! there is nothing that can be done in maschine that cannot be done in ableton (and faster), and yet, there is a bunch of stuff that can be done in ableton that cannot be done in maschine. therefore, the choice is simple. spend your money on ableton and a good pad controller! good video dude!
@dilliot2k Really? Tap Repeat? That's the best argument you can counter with? Shows how little imagination and know-how you have. You can buy an MPD32 or MPK49 and you'd have the tap repeat feature. Also, you can just apply an arpeggiator to any drum sound and you would have tap repeat that way.
Go ahead and spend $600 for tap repeat dummies. You new-jack producers want, and have, everything so easy. After your tap-repeat question, I'd say you are unqualified to review such products.
@vinylallday I wasn't aware we were arguing. Let me check your qualifications by what you have posted online.. Oops you have none. And now you no longer exist.
this piece of crap doesn't even time-stretch! i guess NI will charge you another $600 once that feature is available...meanwhile, i'll be making records in ableton!
@dilliot2k I'll tell you what...we can do a maschine versus ableton challenge. There will not be a single thing that you can do on mashine that I cant do in ableton. If there is, I'll buy you ableton. If there isn't, you can send me your little mashine.....so i can smash it.
@dilliot2k Maschine doesn't claim to be a complete DAW though. I agree that there are alot of things that they need to implement and with them releasing an IOS app first seems like they are just out for the money but, lets remember Maschine started out as a sampling groove box that can also be used as a plug-in, and since then they have made alot of advances to make it a complete production center but it's still in v.1 of dev. U make good points(time clock)etc. but lets be patient for v.2
@dilliot2k I really do wish they would work out some good time stretching though because thats the only reason i use it as a plug anymore because of that and side chaining. It's looking pretty positive for the future though after seeing the new time stretch engine in Kontakt 5. It is really good and some people say it's as good as Ableton. Adding this would be great but it has to be like Ableton or Pro Tools elastic time, where u set many points then stretch every peice however u want.
ever heard of an arpegiator ?? I use it all the time I want to replicate a note repeat.. Otherwise just make a new pattern an insert a damn note.. Its one doubleclick away U know :))
@proofmc2 Yes your right you can, but when speed and time and money counts, having to do that is extremely wasteful. If almost everything else lets you know at all times, this should let you know at all times.
I <3 Maschine.... I picked it and komplete8 so the integration is a massive + for me.... however. I came from a reason background and I'm not a fan of NI's song creation system kinda blows.
If they put out better song creation system... Maschine would easily own any production soft/hardware I've ever owned.
I´m currenty using FL Studio and I´m thinking about buying maschine.
But all the missing points you mentioned seem very important to me, so my question is: Is there a way to use FL Studio and maschine together in any way to that you can do e.g time sretching when needed through FL?
Man I wished I would have seen this vid sooner, don't get me wrong I love maschine but no time strecthin ?? How can you forget the most inportant part of hip hop features!! Good info Video they need to fit this fast !!!!
I have a question, I just got the mashine yesterday, I'm a gigging musician, is the mashine good for making tracks and playing with the track, ot is it simply 4 sampling?
The whole formula behind the Complete Update was because the "Pro Audio" community was more concerned with its plug-in capabilities...
Alot of people use it in Daws like LOGIC and Protools and even Ableton that they time stretch in, and keep the song in there...
Plus adding the ability of using VSTs and Plugi'ns to the actually program is crazy but I think these features will come up soon because people are transitioning into using it as a DAW
I agree with you Maschine has a long way to go. One word for you though. Ableton. Its absolutely ridiculous. If you are serious about producing its time to step up to a big boy DAW. ;)
@voodoohex72 Pro tools isn't garbage for tracking and mixing, which is what I use it for, not for production. If every studio in ATL still uses protools, im sure its not garbage.
Dig the vid. I had maschine. Didn't really care for it because it doesn't satisfy my hardware itch. Anyway, correct me if I'm wrong, but if you were to use maschine with it's latest o.s. in a DAW w/K8 wouldn't all of your needs be satisfied by using all of the vsts with maschine? then you would have the sidechain compression available and the time meter etc.. So maschine isn't capable of being a stand alone workstation quite yet is what you're getting at right?
I'm a 10 year MPC user. Also have been using Reason the past few months. Just got maschine the other day and I completely agree with a lot of basic functions missing. The main one that bothers me is that it doesn't tell you at what exact time/position each note is at when you highlight a note/s. Also, only 16 chops to a program? I'm used to chopping a sample into almost 64 pieces and being able to do drastic re-arrangements to a sample.
@djhellfire1 I looked at your channel, and you know what your doing. One thing I would make sure, if I was on the native instruments payroll, is to make sure that you don't go missing anything transitioning from mpc to maschine. Theres supposed to be more then sixteen chops to a program but you gotta used detect mode to get more then 16. I just manually chop and duplicate and go on that way. but yeah.
@dilliot2k Thanks! Yeah, I know how to get more than 16 chops from a sample (I use grid), but what I don't get is where the ones from 17 and up go within the group? Example, on the mpc, samples 17-64 would get placed on pad banks B-D, allowing up to 64 chops to be used at the same time from a single program, and you get like 99 programs which means a hell of a lot of sounds loaded. With Maschine, you get 16 samples to a group and only 8 groups, which means only 128 samples loaded at once?
@djhellfire1 you can definitly have more then 128 samples loaded at once. so if you want more then one sample on pad one on maschine you would have to map those samples to different notes on that pad through sample mapping. I never owned a mpc but I deffinitly want to try it out to see how it differes from maschine, cause Iknow it does things differently to get to the same result.
@dilliot2k Yeah, I figured it out. The Maschine uses the Octave button to scroll through your chops. One the MPC, it has a pad bank button. But in Maschine, I have only gotten this to work with Non destructive chopping in grid mode (where it's basically just the one sample chopped into a bunch of pieces). However, with actual individual/seperate samples/chops, I haven't figured out how to have more than 16 per group. Thanks tho. I'm gettin it!
@dilliot2k YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT IT NEEDS A LOT MORE DEVELOPMENT NO ARPREGIATOR. THE EFX PARAMETERS NEED TO BE INTEGRATED DIFFERENTLY. I BELIEVE THAT IT HAS THE ABILITY TO BE ITS OWN DAW. THE GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE COULD BE CLEANED UP.
I totally agree they went for the money and Integrated it with Komplete 8 whitch u have to buy and it sucks because I own Komplete 7 and I am a big Battery user. I really didn't appreciate this update it really showed how money hungry some of these companies can be. Maschine came out while Komplete 7 was out why isn't it compatible with 7?
I agree, thats why i own Renoise for 79 bucks and do crazy stuff with only my laptop keyboard and a bit of programming. Although Maschine samples are very good.
@relativmusic I don't think it was intended to be a plugin. I think I waste computer resources using two programs at the same time, when another program can do it on it's own.
I'm not a real big fan of ableton, however I can't say it's not a good program for someone else.
I haven't even bothered with 1.7, feel kinda like you do I guess.. accept.. you know.. I'm less judgmental about the update.. I mean there's been so many free updates since Maschine came out, its come so far so long... I'm still kinda upset about the dropping of Kore, and I guess essentially that's what 1.7 is.. the kore-ification of Maschine.. which makes sense.. particularly if you are a Komplete user
@badsphincteroedipus I just feel that, rather native instruments likes it or not, there is a bigger world then their complete series. Be as it may that komplete is a great product.
Bro. Completely agree. And I haven't even got my machine working yet out of the box,, and hearin your blog I'm a bit bummed they aren't on top of those details.
@Reggmail The Fanboy fight is fun, For me FL studio has great speed when it comes to my asio driver, how ever, I don't like having to program each nob, for each vst plugin, over and over again, and does the mod wheel even work in ten?
Yo my brotha, I do appreciate your opinion and honesty on this product.
Iv'e never bought Machine because I cross setup my B-Controller BCF2000 and MPC-1000 JjOS2 and with ''Sonar Producer'' I'm set. I do own Kontact 4 and FL-10. I hat the latency using FL with any controller, it sucks.
With new drivers and settings I don't understand why
They did all this because they ditched Kore 2, & are trying 2 FORCE Kore 2 users over 2 Maschine, which is a beat production tool, even Keir @ NI said it was not supposed2 replace Kore 2, It's is a sound design tool for synthesist.
NI is focused on GREED not if U R completely happy w/ Maschine. komplete 4-7 are intended for kore 2 integration, was never intended for Maschine, they R making everyones life hell, & have a rating of D- @ the BBB & a class action lawsuit against them over Kore 2.
I fully understand what you are saying, and I would have to disagree. Unless your production is 90 to 100 percent drum programming or sampling, I don't see how you could rely on machine to be your DAW of choice. I can only see it as a plugin and a midi controller
@CDZONE6 I think he was referring to the intuitive workflow. It is better and more straight forward in this respect. I believe Maschine with Komplete will be a full fledged DAW at some point, but not for a long time. I think time stretching and side chaining will happen for the next update which in my opinion will be a huge update. I think Komplete integration was just a side note update geared as a stepping stone toward a bigger leap, which lets be honest is a good move, just not significant.

I don't see how u could say that machine is better than any full fledged DAW. To me, all machine is is a plugin with a controller. I can't imagine using it as a DAW for any serious production. I am mostly a logic and pro tools guy, and would never dream of using the machine as a DAW.
@CDZONE6 let me help you understand my context. When I mention other DAW software, I mean it is better for music production then other DAW's like logic. How ever , I prefer protools for my Recording functions. Even though people still use DAW software like logic for protools.
i feel that i feel if you have maschine like elements or shit realy komplete should be a free upgrade for the fact they dont give you nothing with the new update
Hey man I'm using FL Studio 10 exclusively right now- I've been using image-line software for the last 10 years and I feel as it's never been better. It may just be the best DAW right now. I've got a question for you- everyone seems to be in love with maschine. I thought for sure you could use maschine with FL Studio as a plugin- is this not the case? Is the plugin version not as versatile as the stand-alone software?
@MikeEashOfficial heres what I deal with when I use maschine as a plugin in FL studio. Some times I want to start and stop the beat from the play button, but I can't while the controller is in maschine mode and not midi mode. Now you could go through the process of setting up the midi settings on the maschine controller and blah, but I just don't feel like going through all that.
ok 4k is not so bad at least we know they will watch a long vlog, now let's try what I call the knock out method, where you get in, sell what you are saying, then convince the viewers to buy it, and ending the video quickly. Try vlogging under 3 minutes trust me the viewership will increase by 300%. Keep in mind of how short most people att spans are God bless bro
@dilliot2k just saying my channel is proof in itself vato, ima always support you man no matter what you have never ever turned on me or hated me for no reason at all.
@dilliot2k ive used FL studio my whole life, i really want to change to Maschine because like you, im sick of clicking everywhere, im sick of midi notes not being where they should be etc. it really sucks the creative energy out of me. do you think i should make the change? or wait until they fix up maschine abit?
@dilliot2k This will be 40k before you know it. There are so many things they should address. A bunch of simple fundamentals are missing, that I have been expecting since 1.5. I don't complain on the NI forums anymore either because every time I raise a valid issue, the response just becomes a battle, and people defending NI. I don't get. I don't think we are being picky. In the last couple of weeks at least 4000 people googled "WhyThe F am I supposed to by hyped about 1.7 again?" Half-steppin
@ProductEon You know exactly what I'm talkin about. Yeah they really go hard in defending and crying about thread space at the forums and plus the on the record sessions are so vague they really don't inform anyone of anything.
We are definitely not being picky. At the end of the day, 1.7 wasn't about maschine, it was about K7 and K8.
good info and I respect your opinion, but you sound really angry about this whole thing...I mean 1.7 is a free optional update, as is komplete 8. I guess there's plenty of stuff they could update but the MPC has been around for decades and it has many short comings as you probably know. I'm pretty sure NI's whole game plan is to feed us slow and not blow there load too early. Apple does the same thing. give 'um a little at a time and they will come back. anyway , good review, but life's short.
@dilliot2k Things that annoy me: 1. Having to play patterns all the way from the start to get to a certain point. Ex: If I have a 16 bar loop, and just want to edit the last 2 bars, I can't just loop those last 2 bars.
2. The inability to automate tempo. The whole track has to be the same tempo.
3. It gets complicated sometimes when I have a sound played at the end of one pattern, and i want it to carry over into the next pattern. The sound gets cut off.
@GettingPissedMan Maschine has to much in it to be concidered ust a beat generator in my opinion. The possibilites are almost endless if native instruments gets their act together.
After my 1.7 update it keeps crashing my Maschine after a while, there is no auto-save .BAK that works properly so that sucks after 3 hours of work....
Ableton does have it and that's pretty good.
I tried removing all contents and re-installing it but no good result.
i started a thread about timestretch on the forums and got shot down, like "not another timestretch request..." but seriously; maschine is a sampler: that's what samplers DO. they timestretch things. the over all sentiment was that NI were waiting until they perfected the timestretch feature before releasing it. really? that shit practically weathered the plague. my s2000 has it and i have to load its OS from a floppy...why have such a great chop feature with no timestretch?

Not sure if you checked on the record, but the developers mentioned that multicore processing and timestretching. Why not just go back to fl until maschine has what your looking. The 1.7 is awesome with komplete 8 ultimate. It makes sequencing songs faster. I see the ones who don't have k8 put the update down. Just my 2.
@redskins20111 Yeah I checked on the record, and it's just a tease. Mentioning all kinds of things aren't the same as actually saying when they are going to do them, and they do it that way so they are not held accountable. You are the fortunate to own K8. How ever, I believe that updates should be for all users and not for those who were willing to pay 600 bucks and then be included into an exclusive club in which this update benefits.
@dilliot2k@dilliot2k I don't agree because everyone wanted VST support, and we got it. Users that have komplete 7 still can access the presets from fm 8, absynth, massive via the controller in Maschine 1.7. If you look at komplete 8 ultimate, look how much those items are seperately? It's not a waste imo. You would rather insert a vst and then browse the preset using that plug in vs the hardware controller? As for mentioning, what company would tell all publicy for what they are doing?
@redskins20111 You disagree, so that means your saying that native should only take care of those who paid the aproximate 600 bucks to be taken care of in this update instead of all maschine owners. Everyone wanted alot of other things too, and we didn't get them. I don't recall everybody on the forum asking for "imaschine" and a smaller maschine controller yet we got that so saying Native delivers by only using 1.6 is an example is not enough to really make a point.
@dilliot2k I'm good over here man. NI is gonna do what they are gonna do. Users were begging for vst support, and we got it. Why did you buy maschine if it doesn't have the features you don't want? They already announced what was going to be in the 1.7 update months ago. Its now a sudden shock that they dont have sidechaining? "Mentioning all kinds of things aren't the same as actually saying when they are going to do them, and they do it that way so they are not held accountable." *Sigh*
hey i need to know if i can install maschine on two computers?! i bought a laptop and i plan on installing maschine on it. i really hope i can........

ayoitsmeeeh 3 weeks ago
Look here.. you can't expect a drum machine/sampler to do a work of a sequencer... You use it to layout drums n sample
blo0magic 4 weeks ago
@blo0magic Do me a favor and tell me where exactly does native instruments state what maschine is "Meant to be". And Also tell me where I said it's supposed to be a DAW.
dilliot2k 4 weeks ago

I totally agree with you... when I bought Maschine I thought they would improve it to make at least the same things I can do on my MPC, but no... in the end I sold it.
what I need is a better sample editor (like the one by JJOS), sidechaining, timestretch...
ansiaaa666 1 month ago
The music sequencer (or simply sequencer) is a device or computer software to record, edit, play back the music, by handling note and performance information in several forms, typically : MIDI, CV/Gate, and possibly audio and automation data for Plug-ins and DAWs. Maschine does these things, therefore it IS a sequencer.
dilliot2k 1 month ago
Actually Everything you're saying is false,All you mention that the machine can't do,It does,Obviously you don't know how to use it properly. Also Machine is a Groove/Sampler Not a Sequencer so yes you're not going to see a time frame.Real Musicians really don't need a time frame because they can mentally figure out the time so that's no problem there, far as time stretching you actually can.don't what version you have but I do it all the time with no problems
bigman72511 1 month ago
@bigman72511 Check my work out to see if I know how to use it properly before you come to that conclusion and you see that actually everything I'm saying is true. I think you are grossly misunderstanding what I'm talking about, or you are just solely intent on staying with your belief that I'm wrong, which is fine with me. It's ok, so many more people agree with what i'm saying .

Does a 1.7 Maschine update mean you have to have 10.7 Lion OSX? (on mac)?
Or does it have nothing to do with that?
Bak3dB3an 2 months ago
I thought that Maschine would at least be a decent browser for NI products, but NI fucked that up also. No ratings, and searching and new format is a joke now.
And because NI dumped Kore, they are probably working on a true sound design/hardware controller/browsing product, but would have to update or change formats yet again. total clusterfuck. NI has really gone downhill.

InfinityEnterprises 3 months ago
@InfinityEnterprises That is the most preposterous comment I have ever read on this video .
dilliot2k 3 months ago
@dilliot2k In fairness I agree with a lot of your points (and you make them well!) but Infinity does have a point. I use Maschine with Ableton and/or Logic, not by itself, and all the things you are missing are provided by them.
You hate clicking, me too! With Maschine and my APC20 I can rinse out tunes without touching the mouse or keyboard.
Anyhoo, glad to have discovered your flicks. Most talking heads on YouTube are inadequate wankers who love the sound of their own tinny voice. You aren't
TheGeraldemerald 2 months ago
@InfinityEnterprises I believe the wording is whats mayby preposterous. Its not a DAW. And I dont want it to be. NI has time stretching pro in Kontakt. You can purchase time stretching programs all in the audio industry. Maschine is not meant to be PT, Ableton, Reason Record etc. You can route and track out maschine in most D A Ws. On my box it says groove production studio, not daw. This is only my experienced opinion. Slam it if you like.
PreachingBeats 2 months ago
@PreachingBeats But if Native Instruments DID add time strectch and side chain (which I think they'll do eventually) it could potentially give it's competition a run for it's money (MPC's for example). If it did evolve into a DAW (it may eventually) it would be one of the best in the game, as long as they kept the focus on music making and left mastering and post production to the other guys.
qmulus1 2 months ago
I agree on alot of the points, to say 1.7 isn't worth much I disagree with but the lack of certain basic features still irritates me. though I do understand that they need to do an engine rebuild in order to get alot of the features we want like scrolling playhead, real time timestretch, tempo mapping etc. I think it was a smart business move to include the komplete integration as more revenue = more money for R&D but yeah there is alot I want.

The only thing i really mis right now is indeed the sidechaining although there are ways to work around that.
automation can be a pain in maschine but its doable and it doesn't way up against the trouble you get when using maschine in a daw.
+ you lose like 50% of the workflow when using maschine in a daw

diolliot2k, what a unique observation about song length. I've been checking out Maschine and that the first that I was looking for. I was like wtf? Ok, you've got all these "scenes" but how long is the actual song... very confusing...
lancerambert 3 months ago
automation is a joke in maschine, in ableton or FL i can automate like a dream, that is virtually a pain in my ass with maschine, they really need to overhaul the Piano roll though the velocity bars respond bad and not as quick as FL or Ableton....1.8 better cover these issues....
BeyondCashed 3 months ago
why not use maschine with ur DAW, such as Ableton i side chain with maschine, but all in all.......its hard going from a full use DAW to a Limited DAW , YES it affected me, if i wanted an update i would cover everything u sed, have a visible time code...other quick features in the piano roll are a pain in my ass with maschine, they need to focus on real updates to the professionalism of the DAW its self, because by its self, u can not make a complete Mastered track, idk sum may say otherwise
BeyondCashed 3 months ago
I Agree, Maschine is great, but i use it with Ableton, FL Studio was my bread and butter for many years, and i think Maschine has a ton of little things it needs to change to make it a better DAW by its self....Maschine its self is great because u can construct a beat extreamly quicker then most other daws.....i feal u on this topic what is NI's priorities with maschine, and where can i post to NI for changes with Maschine?

this maschine business seems more marketing than anything else. i come from a background of having used an SP1200 as well as a range of MPCs. At this point, Ableton is killing all of them! there is nothing that can be done in maschine that cannot be done in ableton (and faster), and yet, there is a bunch of stuff that can be done in ableton that cannot be done in maschine. therefore, the choice is simple. spend your money on ableton and a good pad controller! good video dude!

vinylallday 4 months ago
@dilliot2k Really? Tap Repeat? That's the best argument you can counter with? Shows how little imagination and know-how you have. You can buy an MPD32 or MPK49 and you'd have the tap repeat feature. Also, you can just apply an arpeggiator to any drum sound and you would have tap repeat that way.
Go ahead and spend $600 for tap repeat dummies. You new-jack producers want, and have, everything so easy. After your tap-repeat question, I'd say you are unqualified to review such products.

vinylallday 4 months ago
@dilliot2k I'll tell you what...we can do a maschine versus ableton challenge. There will not be a single thing that you can do on mashine that I cant do in ableton. If there is, I'll buy you ableton. If there isn't, you can send me your little mashine.....so i can smash it.
vinylallday 4 months ago
@vinylallday Thanks, but no thanks, I"m sure ableton is a great program. I'm only asking you can ableton do note repeat like a mpc or maschine does?
dilliot2k 4 months ago
@dilliot2k Maschine doesn't claim to be a complete DAW though. I agree that there are alot of things that they need to implement and with them releasing an IOS app first seems like they are just out for the money but, lets remember Maschine started out as a sampling groove box that can also be used as a plug-in, and since then they have made alot of advances to make it a complete production center but it's still in v.1 of dev. U make good points(time clock)etc. but lets be patient for v.2
dmoates420 4 months ago
@dilliot2k I really do wish they would work out some good time stretching though because thats the only reason i use it as a plug anymore because of that and side chaining. It's looking pretty positive for the future though after seeing the new time stretch engine in Kontakt 5. It is really good and some people say it's as good as Ableton. Adding this would be great but it has to be like Ableton or Pro Tools elastic time, where u set many points then stretch every peice however u want.
dmoates420 4 months ago

proofmc2 4 months ago
@proofmc2 Yes your right you can, but when speed and time and money counts, having to do that is extremely wasteful. If almost everything else lets you know at all times, this should let you know at all times.

SenseTheKidd 4 months ago
I agree with you Maschine has a long way to go. One word for you though. Ableton. Its absolutely ridiculous. If you are serious about producing its time to step up to a big boy DAW. ;)

@dilliot2k Pro tools is a joke compared to Ableton for the music you write. Seriously give it a try youll be sold in less then a month.
Pro tools is garbage for the midi/loop centric stuff we do.
Anyone who is anyone among dance/electronic producers use either ableton or logic and most are now switching to ableton because its superior.
voodoohex72 4 months ago

DJillogick 4 months ago
I'm a 10 year MPC user. Also have been using Reason the past few months. Just got maschine the other day and I completely agree with a lot of basic functions missing. The main one that bothers me is that it doesn't tell you at what exact time/position each note is at when you highlight a note/s. Also, only 16 chops to a program? I'm used to chopping a sample into almost 64 pieces and being able to do drastic re-arrangements to a sample.
djhellfire1 4 months ago
@djhellfire1 I looked at your channel, and you know what your doing. One thing I would make sure, if I was on the native instruments payroll, is to make sure that you don't go missing anything transitioning from mpc to maschine. Theres supposed to be more then sixteen chops to a program but you gotta used detect mode to get more then 16. I just manually chop and duplicate and go on that way. but yeah.
dilliot2k 4 months ago
@dilliot2k Thanks! Yeah, I know how to get more than 16 chops from a sample (I use grid), but what I don't get is where the ones from 17 and up go within the group? Example, on the mpc, samples 17-64 would get placed on pad banks B-D, allowing up to 64 chops to be used at the same time from a single program, and you get like 99 programs which means a hell of a lot of sounds loaded. With Maschine, you get 16 samples to a group and only 8 groups, which means only 128 samples loaded at once?
djhellfire1 4 months ago
@djhellfire1 you can definitly have more then 128 samples loaded at once. so if you want more then one sample on pad one on maschine you would have to map those samples to different notes on that pad through sample mapping. I never owned a mpc but I deffinitly want to try it out to see how it differes from maschine, cause Iknow it does things differently to get to the same result.
dilliot2k 4 months ago
@dilliot2k Yeah, I figured it out. The Maschine uses the Octave button to scroll through your chops. One the MPC, it has a pad bank button. But in Maschine, I have only gotten this to work with Non destructive chopping in grid mode (where it's basically just the one sample chopped into a bunch of pieces). However, with actual individual/seperate samples/chops, I haven't figured out how to have more than 16 per group. Thanks tho. I'm gettin it!
djhellfire1 4 months ago
@dilliot2k YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT IT NEEDS A LOT MORE DEVELOPMENT NO ARPREGIATOR. THE EFX PARAMETERS NEED TO BE INTEGRATED DIFFERENTLY. I BELIEVE THAT IT HAS THE ABILITY TO BE ITS OWN DAW. THE GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE COULD BE CLEANED UP.

CDZONE6 5 months ago
@CDZONE6 let me help you understand my context. When I mention other DAW software, I mean it is better for music production then other DAW's like logic. How ever , I prefer protools for my Recording functions. Even though people still use DAW software like logic for protools.

We need timestretch now 1.7 sucks my maschine is getting dusty

i feel that i feel if you have maschine like elements or shit realy komplete should be a free upgrade for the fact they dont give you nothing with the new update

MikeEashOfficial 5 months ago

@TDanceTV2 true enough, I'll try that shoe on, see if it fit. thanks again.

ChrisBBeats1 5 months ago
@ChrisBBeats1 I think it's alright to to go ahead and get maschine. It provides a great music making experience.
It does have shortcomings, but it's my hope that they will fix them sooner then later.

this video has busted 4000 views, I'm LOL.
dilliot2k 5 months ago
@dilliot2k This will be 40k before you know it. There are so many things they should address. A bunch of simple fundamentals are missing, that I have been expecting since 1.5. I don't complain on the NI forums anymore either because every time I raise a valid issue, the response just becomes a battle, and people defending NI. I don't get. I don't think we are being picky. In the last couple of weeks at least 4000 people googled "WhyThe F am I supposed to by hyped about 1.7 again?" Half-steppin
ProductEon 5 months ago
@ProductEon You know exactly what I'm talkin about. Yeah they really go hard in defending and crying about thread space at the forums and plus the on the record sessions are so vague they really don't inform anyone of anything.
We are definitely not being picky. At the end of the day, 1.7 wasn't about maschine, it was about K7 and K8.
dilliot2k 5 months ago
good info and I respect your opinion, but you sound really angry about this whole thing...I mean 1.7 is a free optional update, as is komplete 8.

WORD! ;) Timecode should be awsome I miss that too! Need to record everything in a DAW to see it! Great videos! Keep it up!

Carsonkable 5 months ago
@Carsonkable your concerns are legitimate , the only problem that theres no way of knowing if native instruments is going to take them seriously.
dilliot2k 5 months ago
what do you think about the maschine as just a beat-generator?
that's what i do. i use the sampler, then i slice it up, usually in FLS. i don't have a maschine yet, but i'm looking into one
GettingPissedMan 5 months ago
@GettingPissedMan Maschine has to much in it to be concidered ust a beat generator in my opinion. The possibilites are almost endless if native instruments gets their act together.

After my 1.7 update it keeps crashing my Maschine after a while, there is no auto-save .BAK that works properly so that sucks after 3 hours of work....
Ableton does have it and that's pretty good.
I tried removing all contents and re-installing it but no good result.
I don't know what's wrong.... FRUSTRATING!

i started a thread about timestretch on the forums and got shot down, like "not another timestretch request..." but seriously; maschine is a sampler: that's what samplers DO. they timestretch things. the over all sentiment was that NI were waiting until they perfected the timestretch feature before releasing it. really? that shit practically weathered the plague. my s2000 has it and i have to load its OS from a floppy...why have such a great chop feature with no timestretch?

@Ninja6485 Why did you buy it if it didn't have timestretching?
redskins20111 5 months ago
Not sure if you checked on the record, but the developers mentioned that multicore processing and timestretching. Why not just go back to fl until maschine has what your looking. The 1.7 is awesome with komplete 8 ultimate. It makes sequencing songs faster. I see the ones who don't have k8 put the update down. Just my 2.
redskins20111 5 months ago
@redskins20111 Yeah I checked on the record, and it's just a tease. Mentioning all kinds of things aren't the same as actually saying when they are going to do them, and they do it that way so they are not held accountable. You are the fortunate to own K8. How ever, I believe that updates should be for all users and not for those who were willing to pay 600 bucks and then be included into an exclusive club in which this update benefits.
dilliot2k 5 months ago
@dilliot2k @dilliot2k I don't agree because everyone wanted VST support, and we got it. As for mentioning, what company would tell all publicy for what they are doing?
redskins20111 5 months ago
@redskins20111 You disagree, so that means your saying that native should only take care of those who paid the aproximate 600 bucks to be taken care of in this update instead of all maschine owners. Everyone wanted alot of other things too, and we didn't get them. I don't recall everybody on the forum asking for "imaschine" and a smaller maschine controller yet we got that so saying Native delivers by only using 1.6 is an example is not enough to really make a point.
dilliot2k 5 months ago
@dilliot2k I'm good over here man. NI is gonna do what they are gonna do. Users were begging for vst support, and we got it. Why did you buy maschine if it doesn't have the features you don't want? They already announced what was going to be in the 1.7 update months ago. Its now a sudden shock that they dont have sidechaining? "Mentioning all kinds of things aren't the same as actually saying when they are going to do them, and they do it that way so they are not held accountable." *Sigh*
