@cacarory please... PLEASE... stick to believing that The Office was the first show to not use a laugh track and stick to believing that that alone makes it funny.
@bronzonia42 Yes, what the majority of people on youtube like is surely a good indicator of quality! How many millions of viewers does Two and a Half Men reel in? Family guy? Don't be "daft".
@bronzonia42 what does it matter what country I live in? Not the surest sign of intelligence, as if being a fan of this show and Family Guy wasn't indication enough. Next you'll be telling me the X Factor and American Idol are the greatest achievements of mankind, simply for their unprecedented number of viewers.
it matters if you are american because those guys have no sense of humour.
You clearly just looked over a few clips and immediately lumped it with the bbt because they are both about nerds. Wow. well let me tell you american nerds suck compared to english nerds.
anyway this show is a successfull Graham Lineham creation which earned millions of pounds and is liked by all British people who are sane, and you are probably a fat virgin sitting on a computer with nothing better to do
@bronzonia42 let's dissect this comment for a second.
Earning money = success
Americans = no sense of humor
American nerds < English nerds
Virgin = ultimate insult
Name = bronzonia42
And you expect anyone to care what your opinion of them is? That you're anything but a machismo-obsessed teenage imbecile or an underdeveloped man-child? Go back to school, you've got plenty of learning left to do.
@theEarlofChip No it is in fact a completely genius comedy series loved by millions for it's clever and original humour. Not the big bang theory thank you very much. Try watching it, it's fantastic :]
@theEarlofChip It's a completely different fucking show with a completely different plot, a completely different set of characters, and a completely different style of writing and humor. Have you actually seen the show? Or have you cobbled your entire conclusion together from a few scraps of the show posted on YouTube.
@Tokopol haha, you mad? There's no "conclusion", smart guy: it was a question, as in the opposite of a statement. And yes, the impression is from a few of the "best moments" I've seen on youtube. Both this and the phone-in-pocket "joke", are very similar to the writing and delivery styles of shows like Big Bang Theory, That 70s show, Two and a Half Men, etc.
@theEarlofChip Lol you are obviously an American, who can't even spell the word 'humour' correctly, let alone know what it actually is. The IT Crowd is a fantastic sitcom, and one that really does mirror earlier classic British sitcoms in a lot of aspects... for example, characters which are both likeable, but get into awkward situations where we can laugh at them... the fact that it's on a set with a laughter track There's just so many aspects about it which bring the classic sitcom in to today
@ClawlessReaver you're going to get on me for spelling humor the American way, when you can barely manage to form coherent sentences? And I actually like several GOOD British sitcoms/comedies, but this one looks terrible. Sorry that bothers you so much that you have to write a poorly-worded diatribe in some embarrassing attempt to "own" me.
By the way, what you described applies to almost any run-of-the-mill, awful sitcom. I hope you keep that in mind next time you watch 2 1/2 men.
@theEarlofChip I'm sorry? What incoherent sentences are you referring to? While that may be so by today's standards, around 30 years ago it was fresh stuff. What I was getting however, is that the IT Crowd revives that tired genre and rejuvenates it for the 21st century. I wasn't trying to 'own' you at all. I was merely defending a sitcom that i love which you've slated because you 'don't like the look of it'. However, I will agree with you that Two and Half Men is absolutely fucking awful.
@ClawlessReaver "...the fact that it's on a set with a laughter track There's just so many aspects about it which bring the classic sitcom in to today"
I do understand what you meant, and I only brought it up because you chose to criticize my equally correct spelling of humor. And I'd argue Peep Show does more for the sitcom genre, though obviously in a very different way: by creating something fairly novel, rather than, as you say, drawing from the past. More in my second comment...
@ClawlessReaver a continuation from my first comment: I also fail to understand how the IT crowd revitalizes any genre, as from what I've seen, it seems remarkably similar to recent-but-earlier sitcoms, like Two and a Half Men and that '70s show (the execution of this scene is particularly similar to one you could find in either of those sitcoms; think Fez or Sheen's brother). But you don't have to convince me, I'm not going to watch it the show regardless and you're free to like what you want.
@theEarlofChip 1) The Big Bang theory was created more than a year AFTER the IT Crowd.
2) Richard Ayoade, Chris O'Dowd, Katherine Parkinson and Matt Berry have all won countless awards for acting and have also appeared in serious TV dramas, other award winning comedy programmes and famous Movies.
3) Graham Linehan is won of the best comedic writers of the last century and has won: 5 BAFTA's, 1 IFTA and 2 Writers' Guild of Britain awards.
I would like to see you create such a successful program.
@wesleyis16 It's not exactly his/her fault that people gave it the thumbs up so that it'd appear at the top of the page in the highest-rated comments...
@ClawlessReaver The fact that he/she commented in the first place is a pretty shit thing to do, even if it didn't get top comment there would still be a period of time that it would be on the front comment page, sitting there to spoil it for everyone.
@Rymdpandan Funny thing is its my spell checker, not me when i put you're in i must have miss typed and got auto corrected wrongly thanks for pointing that out but people still know what i mean.
@TheOnlyMunchkinSoup It's* and mistyped*. You're awfully easy to troll, mate. ;)
Also, I wouldn't even have bothered to point out your typos in the first place if you hadn't been so rude when pointing out that other guy's spelling error.
@Rymdpandan No, your an idiot he means to say "Bloppers" even though it is't a real word do you not think that if it was a typing error it would be with the characters around a P and Ploppers is such an easy thing to spell....seriously fuck off.
It might've been a poor choice of word, when I said spelling error I didn't mean typo, I simply meant he spelled it wrong.
Also, I took a look at his channel, and it says he is from the US, and the word "ploppers" sound like the kind of silly thing only a Brit would say, so I wouldn't be surprised if he's never heard the word before.

@cacarory pretty sure if you watch the bloopers you can tell it's not a laugh track...why would they put a laugh track on when they fuck up?
spayne2003 2 months ago
@spayne2003 simple, because otherwise everyone would know they use a laugh track
cacarory 2 months ago
@cacarory but the variety of laughs they have on the bloobers they'd be stupid to make that many laughing clips they're all different

@cacarory The big bang theory is even worse. Every word is being laughed at in the big bang theory.
