totally agree selcoboy.weller saw all this start wih thatcher and now we have a chinless wonder called cameron doing the same. at least the old slag was elected unlike these pricks going behind closed doors in may 2010 and stitching every body up. we are all in this together yeah like fuck we are.
im 47 now and can remember being at school on a monday lunchtime listerning to the top 40 ( it was done on mondays in them old days) when going underground went straight in at no1, very rare in them days. the jam has always played a big part in my life, and this track as all the jam tracks is just epic truly epic....
45 now i was on form early 80s 17 scooter the business joined the forces did 6 years married divorced re married had throat cancer happy again the jam played abig part in my growing up
Love this song so much it hurts. Thanks for uploading the album version. Also, Oasis is merely a testament to how great bands like The Jam, Small Faces and The Beatles were/are/will be....Cheers from the States...
A different (rougher?) vibe in many parts. Suede stopped playing here after their equipment were wantonly stolen in '97 in L.A. Other bands of the period didn't do as well here as in the UK, Europe and other evolved continents.
Ah, understood - not to worry though, it isn't only the U.S. where stuff like that happens. In some parts of the U.K. there are idiots that have only just learned to walk upright ;p
As they say, 'the US sneezes, Britain catches the cold'. Huge collective apologies for our lot here, for many things. Britain needs to be Great Britain again, though.
"This is England, this knife of Sheffield steel..." - The Clash, 1983.
Normally I hear Deat Metal and such. Have a soft spot for the Jam though. My sister was into them, Northern Soul, other Mod music and 60s Brit Pop. Paul and the guys wrote great songs and music; they beat Oasis everytime

Hello darlin' - I'm home again
Covered in shit and aches and pains
Too knackered to think so give me time to come round
Just gimme the living room beat to the TV sound -
My hard earned dough goes in bills and the larder
And that Prince Philip tells us we gotta work harder!
It seems a constant struggle just to exist

From this window I've seen the whole world pass
From dawn to dusk I've heard the last laugh laughed
I've seen enough tears to wash away this street
I've heard wedding bells chime and a funeral march
When as one life finishes another one starts -
Alright then love so I'll be off now
It's back to the lunchbox and worker/management rows
There's gotta be more to this old life then this

More prolific, maybe, maybe not, none better however than Than Steve Marriott (RIP) though, even Weller would agree on that.
Gunneddowndead 2 years ago 9
Aye - the Small Faces were one of the core bands I listened to as a mod - something about their style always appealed to me.
Laying on the grass, staring up at the clouds whistling "Lazy Sunday" or "My minds eye" ;)
Awful way for Mr Marriot to go out ;( and you're probably right about Paul agreeing with you!
Thank you for your comment!
xenoxiq 2 years ago
Paul Weller, more prolific than the Beatles. More than any songwriter in all of history!
stylecounciler 2 years ago 11
Don't get me started on the beatles - I'm probably one of the few people out there that loathes that group.
Thank you for commenting ;)
xenoxiq 2 years ago
Curious why you said that, xenoxiq. Are the Beatles just overplayed/overexposed for you?
Why would Paul Weller cover their songs?
giterdun77 2 years ago 4
I just really don't see what all the fuss is about, to be honest mate.
I like 60's music very much, believe me, but the beatles just don't do it for me.
Plus there is just something about mccartney that makes me want to use his head as a trampoline ;p
xenoxiq 2 years ago
I concur regarding McCartney, who seems to have always been a bit of a twat.
Yet the four of them produced stunning music that remains relevant, if not ahead of our time, even.
giterdun77 2 years ago 6
To be honest - this group and The Who will always be my top bands.
I never get tired of hearing their stuff!
Thanks for the comment!

Glad you enjoy it mate ;) Nice to see the Jam's influence still being felt worldwide, isn't it?
xenoxiq 3 years ago
Indeed. That said, i can't blame Weller for not fancying playing here....
giterdun77 3 years ago 22
Sorry for the lateness of response - Weller doesn't fancy playing there? Can you enlighten me more, please? Thanks man.
xenoxiq 3 years ago
I don't sense he likes the States right now, despite the fans he's got here. Understandable.
giterdun77 3 years ago 6
Still none the wiser, mate ;) Why is it understandable?
Feel free to speak - this is my channel and I'll moderate any d**kheads out ;)
