Not as quite good as George, but still amazing! Michael is the only one, who is able to be compareable with George! The outmost respect for Michael Buble!!!!!
I just realized from wikipedia that George Michael wrote this song in 1980s. This is about his personal experience. That's why Michael may sing it with more "soul"...
I think George Michael just has a voice with more rough tones which gives the song more personality contrary to Buble's silky, smooth voice. It doesn't mean that Buble sings with less emotion. It just makes Buble's version a lot more cookie-cutter which doesn't give the song the right mood or feel for lack of better words.
I understand people saying that George Michael sings this better in that he puts in more emotion into the song. But to discard completely the beauty in this interpretation is to be musically deaf. I dunno how it's humanly possible to listen to this clip without feeling even a tiny bit touched.
I love this song. Every time I hear it, It makes me think of Winter of Innocence by Ken Koenig. If you haven't heard that song then you should check it out just search: Ken Koenig - Winter of Innocence &Let me know what you think! :)
I've just spent nigh on 3 days listening to the george michaels. I love the bloke, a voice like silk, velvet and chocolate mixed with a dollop of class. ........however, the bubble wipes the floor with him on this one, its the lower bass tones, he can't match the greek on the high bits, but for 90% he's on the money, its a jazz standard, and as a standard the boob gets it.... cheers
I was so excited when I came across this but it wasn't quite what I was expecting. Michael Buble sings beautifully and with feeling but what exactly is he feeling? He's definitely not conveying the kind of emotions I picked up from George Michael... It should be sung full of regret and mourning. This cover just falls flat :(
First time I've heard this guy and now I wonder where I've been. I LIKE HIM!! Classic style, lovely voice strong choice of tunes;think I'm a new fan. I just have to go out more often.
i don't really care what anyone says. Both George and Michael are amazing singers! Michael does a great cover of the original and in my opinion it is done beautifully. So lets all stop the hate shall we and enjoy this amazing song :)
surprised by the criticism. this is one of the few songs i think buble gets right. i love this version. as well as the george michael's version. just two different feels.
Obviously a different style of singing, a little too jazzy with the horn section; not soft enough. Though this one isn't that bad, George Michael's original is definitely the best. Michael Buble would do great singing big band if he wanted to try something a little different.
any debate that tried compare Buble's version with GM is completely useless and brainless. they both great singers and i dont think that GM is objected that Buble covered his song. so bring your brainless debate to other videos but this beautiful song.
wow suddenly ppl cant cover other songs? seesh chill out people, regardless of which one u think is better, u cant deny buble IS talented and this version is well done
@navegamadrid I think both of them are very talented and amazing singers just they are singing in different style. Its like compare a chocolate cake with a strawberry cake... impossible.:)
@romanguy73. Frank Sinatra has never been near this song. George Michael wrote the song and first recorded it around 1988. Michael Buble covered it around 2002 (ish). I'm sure this was just an oversight on your part.
I completely disagree. I love George Michael, but the booble has made this his own. It's a jazz standard and I'd sooner hear him sing this than GM. More than happy to hear GM do his other stuff like listen without prejudice vol1, wonderful.
while i think buble is a decent enough singer, and i've enjoy a few of his songs, this cover still falls far short of George Michael's rendition. Every change that buble enacts just seems to subtract rather than add to the original. GM really nailed it, in my opinion, and there's really no way to change it or view it in any other interpretation.
Both versions are brilliant. Each performer has their own interpretation...George gets the royalties and can crash into as many supersnaps as he wants....and let Mikey do the donkey work.....it's all good!!
Buble really brings this song to life...George Michael is the genius songwriter who penned it and first recorded it...George gave it a life of its own...and now Buble really shows what a great cabaret number it can be. Stop hatin', people. There is room for both versions...each may have his or her favorite, but they both do it justice.
@Snackay Oh, that's just goofy. I can understand being a huge fan of somebody...being so loyal that you can't even objectively listen to anybody else is a pathology. I am a big fan of George Michael...have been since 1984 when I was 13...but, I also can listen to Buble and hear his great talent, as well. Both versions of the song are really good, IMHO.
@Snackay Okay, I went back and listened to them both again...and I admit that I love George's far better...the original is by far the more sensual, George's voice has a depth that Buble doesn't reach, but I still like Buble's version for what it is. So let me guess, some female in your surrounding told you she wet herself when she listned to him and you felt the need to show your hate towards him now on the internet. Jealousy truly creates bad seeds...
@AkvileAlex he was marketed like that, a lot of artists start off by doing covers but he is in fact a great singer & has a lovely personality unlike tons of pop divas with no personality and/or talent whatsoever n.n
@smiley77pp "this lad" as you call him has done other songs than just old classics, he has at least 5 pop hits he has written/co-written "Hollywood", Home", "Haven't Met You Yet", "Hold on" and "Everything". "Home" has been recorded by no less than 5 other artists that have made a hit of it too in their genres. If you think that his versions of the classic songs sound exactly the same as the originals, then you might want to go find them again, because he does have a style of his own.

I like it. It's just a different manner of performing this very wonderful song. Buble does it with such simplicity very reminiscent of a period of time decades before George Michael. Of course George Michael is fabulous too.
He's got a good baritone voice, but has no high or falsetto abilty like a lot of baritones possess,so has to back out of the high parts,George gives this a nicer haunting sound to this song.Doesn't Buble look like Matt Dillon's not so cool brother!
@dewy200884 our your one def or what. I'm not even a Buble fanatic, but I can appreciate his tone and delivery. Its rare to cover and song and be able to give it the justice that the original gave it. But Buble does a supreb job.
@LiquidSexWax If you hate him so much, then you don't have to write negative comments about him! Geez! And BTW, Michael Buble is WAYYYY more popular now.
@LiquidSexWax He's not trying to out-do him. It's alright. A lot of people cover older musician's or artist's songs. It's a sign of respect, and honor. Don't worry, I'm sure he got permission.
@bpuccia87 Oh god... SO? Does that make him incapable of feeling love? Give me a break xD They're both amazing singers, I LOVE this song and I actually think that Bublé did a really nice job with the cover. But I also think that your comment was WAY out of line, sorry.
are you kidding?? He does do a lot of covers but its ALWAYS some hardass song that only huge talent could pull off, songs that ordinary singers don't sing..because they'll mess it up.. he has a real quality voice. sure this is one of them. don't be angry, be glad michael buble did it, he usually only sings difficult songs others will mess up if they try, so, it is a further compliment to georgie, frank sinatra etc.. and yes, georgie is ah may zing!

i can't stand this talentless fake.George Michael wrote this and performs it with originality and talent. Watch it and compare them. Buble needs to accomplish something on his own. Bubles version stinks. He's an embarassment to canada.Just because you quote Ghandi doesn't make you Ghandi . Get your own song. Then we can see what you're made of.

@thisguyhereok Talentless? Before even mentioning his amazing voice and song interpretation skills he has wrote countless number ones such as Everything, Home, Haven't Met You Yet so he is not talentless and he has done his own songs so you have no place to say such bold statements as you just did.
@thisguyhereok hahaha you might want to open your eyes and ears, Buble has written a number of original numbers and made millions of dollars touring the WORLD. Something about this says success and talent, while you are dissing him via youtube, sure you have tons of musical talent! ;) So perhaps you should study before you critic, then we can see what you're made of. :D
Very good version, what a compliment to GM someone actually singing your own material will done mr Buble, but GM is and always will sing it much better
The brass ruins it for me. And I think no one will ever beat George Michael singing this song.

c'est un merveilleuse chanson et j'adore Michael!!!!tu es super...

Buble's RECORDING is fantastic, but this lowered key he uses to cheat through live performances leave much to be desired.

U said it!!!!!!!

@LiquidSexWax If you hate him so much, then you don't have to write negative comments about him! Geez! And BTW, Michael Buble is WAYYYY more popular now.
Gabriella990223 11 months ago
@LiquidSexWax He's not trying to out-do him. It's alright. A lot of people cover older musician's or artist's songs. It's a sign of respect, and honor. Don't worry, I'm sure he got permission.

But George Michael is gay! Michael, isn't!
bpuccia87 11 months ago
@bpuccia87 Oh god... SO? Does that make him incapable of feeling love? Give me a break xD They're both amazing singers, I LOVE this song and I actually think that Bublé did a really nice job with the cover. But I also think that your comment was WAY out of line, sorry.

@Yukistacia
I was just being silly, but still... I think Michael Buble's music is better.
bpuccia87 11 months ago
@bpuccia87 What exactly does sexual orientation have to do with talent? George Michael can sing.
LiquidSexWax 10 months ago
@LiquidSexWax 100% agree .... any other posers that attempt this song are just sorry wannabes.

are you kidding??

Before even mentioning his amazing voice and song interpretation skills he has wrote countless number ones such as Everything, Home, Haven't Met You Yet so he is not talentless and he has done his own songs so you have no place to say such bold statements as you just did.
jamessimonhudson 1 year ago
@thisguyhereok hahaha you might want to open your eyes and ears, Buble has written a number of original numbers and made millions of dollars touring the WORLD. Something about this says success and talent, while you are dissing him via youtube, sure you have tons of musical talent! ;) So perhaps you should study before you critic, then we can see what you're made of. :D
