Hate N Revenge so powerful ! it can bend the will of your life, change your outlook on friends n even family ! can pick u up from the darkest depths and toss you into dizzying heights ! hate my friend ! REVENGE ! my passion !
@STLxSepulveda5 Michael Tsarion is the worlds premier conspiracy researcher/lecturer/author. Leo Zagami, Jordan Maxwell and Alexandre Dumas pere are highly informative as well. p.s. Melting Euphoria is similar to Ozric Tentacles and Gong.
@STLxSepulveda5 "Above all I have learned from the Jesuits. And so did Lenin too, as far as I recall. The world has never known anything quite so splendid as the hierarchical structure of the [Roman] Catholic Church. There were quite a few things I simply appropriated from the Jesuits for the use of the [Nazi] Party.
@STLxSepulveda5 "In the agreement to rescue Rome [i.e., the Roman Catholic Church's hierarchy] from the predicament of losing its world control to Protestantism, and to preserve the spiritual and temporal supremacy which the popes [had] 'usurped' during the Middle Ages, Rome now 'sold' the [Roman Catholic] Church to the Society of Jesus [i.e., the Jesuits]; in essence the popes surrendered themselves into their hands."
@The021773 I think I can explain. LONG BEFORE this scene took place with the bad guy (Dunglar) and the pirate (Luigi), Monte Cristo hid 1 CRATE on Dunglar's personal ship not involved in the shipping. He then tells Luigi to unload and secure the rest of the crates until Dunglar is arrested, so that Luigi can bring them safely to Monte Cristo's home. (continued...)
Now the scene begins: Dunglar decides to steal 2 CRATES on his own but, of course, Luigi ignores his orders and follows Monte Cristo's orders, securing the entire rest of the treasure. Knowing that 1 crate is on Dunglar's ship Dunglar will get framed anyway. And when he does, Dunglar sees Luigi riding with the crates and assumes he hasn't boarded them onto his ship yet. So, Dunglar tells the officers "This is ubsurd," thinking he's off the hook.
But when Monte Cristo suggests searching Dunglar's ship, Dunglar sees that a crate had mysteriously appeared on board, and assumes Mondego had set him up, being the only possible lead he can think of. That much backstory would make this a very confusing scene indeed. Of course, however, I could be wrong about it, too. (End.)
"You are mad, my grace, for ignoring this. You have a fortune, a beautifful woman who loves you. Take the money, take the woman and LIVE YOUR LIFE!!!!"
Jacopo has great wisdom. The world according to him would be remarcably simple :)
"You didn't think I would make it that easy did you?" awesome line!! I knew Edmund wouldn't let him off that easy! He just got the rug pulled out from under him!
Just to clarify something which a lot of people overlook. The reason why such acts of loyalty are gone today is because there is so much more opportunity to become something in this world nowadays. Back then, if a person was not rich then they became nomads, thief's, soldiers etc... There were so many adventures to go on years ago due to the unknown out in the world & to explore different continents. I'm sure that you get the idea I'm trying to point out. Life for the poor is much easier today.
@The021773 Luigi is working for Danglars as a double-agent for Edmund, to make sure that Danglars gets caught with some of the stolen gold AND delivers the rest to Mondego and Villefort. OR... as he rides off, that entire wagon could be meant as payment for Luigi, seeing as we never really witness Mondego or Villefort anywhere near the gold. Also, Danglars thinks that Mondego set him up when it was actually Dantes. cheers.

@bjpogi210 It's called 'Artistic Liberty' They took a seemingly interminable end (the book version) and made it shorter, cleaner, and easier to understand. It's not pretty, but it makes for a much more compelling visual work.
it's pronounced dantay not dantes it's just spelled dantes you'd think the director would at least find out how to pronounce come on! americans! sheesh!
@lilmaqi I love how in this movie about betrayal and revenge, there is still a loyalty that never dies. Jacapo's loyalty to Edmond is very admirable and it's why I love Jacapo as a character.
@lilmaqi This passage is from The incredible marquis by Herbert Gorman entitled the soldier of fortune(chapter six) It was natural that Dumas believed implicitly in the magic of somnambulism, in animal magnetism and in chiromancy. No Haitian negro dancing before his Voodoo altar was more superstitious than Dumas. Home, to Dumas, therefore, was an authentically inspired adept in communicating with unseen world.
@lilmaqi Have we succeeded? We think so. Before long we shall have covered with our narratives an enormous period of time; between the "Comtesse de Salisbury' and the "Comte de Monte Christo" five centuries and a half are compresed. Well, we assert that we have taught France as much history about those five centuries and a half as any historian. This passage is from The Companions of Jehu which was written by Alexandre Dumas pere.
@lilmaqi "Behind the ostensible government sits enthroned an INVISIBLE GOVERNMENT owing NO allegiance and acknowledging NO responsibility to the people. To destroy this invisible government, to befoul this unholy alliance between corrupt business and corrupt politics is the first task of the statesmanship of today." PRESIDENT THEODORE ROOSEVELT, 1906
@lilmaqi "The minority, the ruling class at present, has the schools and press, usually the Church as well, under its thumb. This enables it to organize and sway the emotions of the masses, and make its tool of them."
~ Albert Einstein, letter to Sigmund Freud, 30 July 1932
So....what if Villefont escapes the Chateau d'If the same way Edmond did and starts potting his revenge the same way? ...Nah, nevermind, he's not as smart as Edmond. :)
except for the story written by Mr Dumas, there is the extra element of politic made in USA added in this movie which spoils the original movie. The original movie was heavy to watch, this movie has lost that atmosphere of French cinema, it is chain production
When Dantes returns to Marseille and sees that Danglars has taken over Morrel's company, there's a sign that says "Louis Danglars". Yet here the officer names him "Philip Danglars". Am I the only one who finds this odd?
9:18 I was hoping that the pistol contained gun powder but without the bullet. Then there would be a dramatic bang to scare Villefort but not kill him. That would be very mocking.
He doesn't, since he tells the soldier "to cut him down before he can't talk." At least in this movie, Danglars will end up in prison too, and no jury would believe him when he claims the powerful and rich Count of Monte Cristo is some old sailor friend of his who got promoted over him and escaped from prison.
@evilpony642 villefort and mondego (sp?) had decided that they were gonna steal edmond's gold from the ship, which is the one that danglars was standing on during that scene. he decided to take 2 chests for himself, which he put on the carriage thingy for edmond's old captain to take away
@evilpony642 It was all a setup. Dangler was the captain who hated Dantes because he was demoted. He teamed up with Mondego to send him to the Chateau d'If. When Dantes escaped he made sure Mondego could not use any other shipping company except for Dangler's who ousted Dantes' former employer out of business. That is why he told his former employer when he visited that his luck was about to change.
James Frain has been in so much! He's been in this, The Tudors (with Henry Cavill), Elizabeth and at least one or two other things I can't remember right now.
1 more to go
