how thin is that brush? you got a lot of detail with it. this is amazing! when I do watercolors, all the colors run together, then the picture looks like poo.
@earthtiger12345 How thin? It's really hard to depict, but to compare it's 3 times smaller than a nail polish brush. Thank you :) Watercolors takes a lot of practice~
@aqua101rocks You can find them at Art stores. I know Michaels for sure carries them, and yes, you add water to watercolors. The more you add the more transparent the paint.
Do you start with lighter colors and then layer darker with watercolor? All I know is, when you start from light to dark with eye shadow (Sorry, I watch Michelle Phan alot) it doesn't become muddy :)
So you have to do some and let it dry to do layering. I ask because sometimes you can do it for certain affect while it is wet and I wanted to know which approach you take. I love the song, "Hey Yeah" too.
@Caram3lLov33 Well, I never really looked at watercoloring books when I started. Preferably tutorial paintings on Youtube is a lot of help and you can try finding painting tutorials on deviantArt also. Some artists should have step-by-step on how to paint. That, and a lot of practice and experimenting! :)
ummmmm...are you a mangaka? xD this is AMAZING! i tried water colors (and they were pretty high quality) and i ruined one of my best drawings D: how much did you practice with water colors?
@Vocaloid898 That was my future Dream Job when I was younger, but unfortunately I'm not. When I started, I just practiced a lot that's all. Experiment!
Wow, my watercolors have never allowed me to work in such small spaces and in such detail as you do there. Incredible! The final product was astounding, I hope to acheive that level of awesome-ness someday :]
Im just starting with this sort of thing, water-coloring pictures, and i was wondering wat you would reccommend to use as paper if you are trying to use it in like oh i don't know selling at an anime convention? ^^
@supersaiyangohan2 I use Kent Paper, it's a comic book type of paper that can be found on the internet. It works well with watercolors and copic markers, but if you're looking for something that you can find near you, like an art store for example, Bristol board or watercolor paper works too. It all depends on your preference though.
wow. i didnt know for each layer u made it less diluted with water... o.o" heh heh... thats why my paintings look all wrinkley and retarded... lol! this helped thank you so much. the only problem i have with water color tho is i have no patience. at all. -.-"
I prefer to use less layers since I like my paintings to have this Kubo-like effect; not short on detail but let the water do it's cool effects on it's own. But if you want extreme detail like you just did that's a great way to get it. Nice job :D
Funny, question. I watched a lot of cartoons and anime when I was younger. I started drawing for fun. I didn't expect that I would end up drawing the way I do though.
your video help a lot, i try this on my drawing one day, probably because i didn't use the right brush, the line didn't come out like yours that thick. guess i need to change a brush.
Hello! i was really wondering, how long does it usually take to completly draw a single peice. Also how long does it take to get good? i'm seventeen is it too late to learn/draw that stuff in spare time (like an hour a day) thank you.
It all depends how detailed the picture is. Usually more than ten hours. Rarely under 7.
How long to get good? That's almost like a rhetorical question, but I didn't expect drawing to be something I'm kinda good at. Everybody is different, I self taught myself to paint for 5 years, a different person might be able to learn quicker than that, and so forth.
It's never too late to learn how to draw in your spare time. It's never too late for almost about anything.
ahhh no wonder the paper is of better quality. im not sure i can find those papers easily, would you mind describing the texture and characteristics of the paper?
I can't really compare to what type of paper Kent can be similar to. It's a thick kind of paper, really smooth and it can soak up really well.
I don't really think there's a type of paper you can find at an art store that is similar to Kent though. I tried so many different kinds to find out which is close or just like it.
Wow, you're one of the best artists I've seen on YouTube! I just go tsome watercolors and I wanted to try this but I don't think I have the patience x.X
I've been drawing since 3rd grade--which is about 11 years. Then I've been painting since 8th grade... so about 6 years? It doesn't seem that long time ago though.
ahh its nice to see a fellow watercolorist, lol, people are always like its so hard! water goes everywhere! when the trick is to just use a small brush, it soaks up more paint than water if u add a drop of water to your paint first :D
really amazing work!? i'm very impressed! question, how do you make skin tones? i've been wondering that for a while, right now i use a copic marker but i want to know how i make paint skin tones please.
thanx i'll try that, i normally use a Copic marker but i'm gonna try that, thanx a lot =3, btw KEEP PAINTING?! your vids are awsome and they help me a lot, so keep doing what u're doing and post more up, thanx ;)
ps how do u know where the material has folds etc? Is there a concept 2 drawing them or do i have2 spend countless hours on looking at fabrics and getting what is how?
Patience? Hahaha, I'm a very impatient person--but I guess when it comes to a piece that I'm into it's good to have patience...
Folds? Yes, actually, it's kind of hard to explain, but it's all about common sense. If you're a visual type of person, it would probably be more easy to understand.
OwO awesome, Meyli...wow, that must've taken sooo long waiting hours to do the next layer...makes me wonder just how u've done so many *awesome* pics if each one requires this much time. It must've taken ages to make anime back when they used to handpaint the cells zomfg...still the results are worth it. I think I'm gonna try doing some painting now...o_O lol can't wait 4 the rest xD C u around ^__^ - Ten-wa-tokku-desu from devart x3

i think u should practice original more (*3*) u don't even kno my work so maybe don't listen to me but....
when i look at something and paint it i learn stuff but i forget it afterwards... so if u try to duplicate some of those effects by yourself afterwards.. even if ur just trying to duplicate the exact work that u did... i think it will help u adapt those things into ur own style better...
how thin is that brush? you got a lot of detail with it. this is amazing! when I do watercolors, all the colors run together, then the picture looks like poo.

It depends one what you want the paint to look like, if you shade right away when it's wet, the paint will dry with a fuzzy look.
I layer over it after it dries--a bit damp... but almost dry.
It took me about 27 hours ^_^ (And I did watch over the hours taken)

i think u should practice original more (*3*) u don't even kno my work so maybe don't listen to me but....
when i look at something and paint it i learn stuff but i forget it afterwards... so if u try to duplicate some of those effects by yourself afterwards.. even if ur just trying to duplicate the exact work that u did... i think it will help u adapt those things into ur own style better...
don't know if that will help... (*.*;;)..
