  • I can't grow my peppers!! What season should I plant them in Charleston, SC?

  • lmao butt hole and im naming that other one bobby'o penis

  • I learned about your channel from Praxxus55712. I love your videos! Since we received several feet of snow in the last few weeks it was so refreshing to come across your videos now! I like your hat!

  • Thanks! Yep, Praxxus is one serious gardener for sure. I love his garden vids. I'm not sure how big a garden I'll put in this year. I about worked myself to death in the garden last year, LOL.

  • Peppers ship good in boxes... im just sayin!! Impressive as always Blink, tomatoes look glorious and you are a tease with those bell peppers!! that mesh on the beans is the way to go. I laugh when you say drought... maniacally i laugh!! mwah hahaha GO OKRA.. you had tons last year!

  • Hehehe, I know it's now far to late to help your garden but did it ever start raining any in your area? When you started talking about your drought I actually made it a point to look at the radar map for a while and I never really saw any. It looked like it all went north and east of you.

My okra has been MUCH slower growing this year. It looks like I'll get my first mess of it about Thursday. And that's with me cutting a few pods a day the last few days and wrapping it and refridgerating it.

  • PENIS!

  • Your peppers look great! This is my first year gardening but I have grown a ton of Tabasco and banana peppers. Unfortunately I have a bad case of the nematodes in my soil so a lot of my plants are stunted and I had to strip some areas bare.

  • Your bell peppers have a freakish amount of peppers on them. Holy mother of god!!!!

  • Every now and then a branch will break out of them because of the weight of the peppers. I suppose I'd get more total peppers if I ate a few of them green but I prefer to let them change color first. I ate my first orange bell just today:))))

  • watch out for the hot peppers I got a pepper seed up my nose and it actually burnt a hole in the inside of my nose. ouch. I had to snort water to stop the pain.

  • Well it serves you right for shoving food in your nose. See why I never take you out to eat in public anymore? lol

  • ha ha so funny

  • Ouch is right! I like the mildly hot banana peppers so good that I'm not eating many of the really hot peppers. Every now and then I'll get a hot banana which has zero heat and I'll supplement it with one of the red hot peppers. Some people seem to be able to munch big amounts of them with no problem but I'm not one of those people, LOL. Normally I'll cut up a large tomato and part of a pepper and mix them together. The tomato kinda dilutes the heat down.

  • Sorry to see the melons suffering but those beans sure looked good! That Miracle Grow really works. Wow.

When it comes to gardening, I draw the line at squishing seed clusters. Where are the bird who eat the bean beetles!?!?!?!?

I hereby name that one tomato: "Esophagus".

  • I really don't mind the squishing per se. It's the amount of time it takes to do it that I dislike. When I squish enough of the beetles I notice a bit of an odd smell. Undoubedly they don't taste very good which works to their advantage as far as predators go.

Esophagus is a great name! And very apropos since it's already slid down mine, LOL.

  • Hello

    Interesting video.

Have you grown any ginsegn in the garden?

When will we see "who eats this stuff" next part?

    BR,

    POPPE

  • Nope I've never tried any ginsing. I've heard it's hard to grow. Plus you have to construct something which gives it just the right amount of shade or it doesn't grow well at all. I'll start keeping an eye out in the stores to see if there's any unusual food. At the time I filmed that last episode ages ago I had pretty much run dry as far as finding weird stuff.

  • your last vid made me think of alice in wonderland (the disney version).. 'i give myself very good advice, but i very seldom follow it...'

cant you get the 3 cool cats to get the bugs ;)

    banana peppers are the best!

look at you in your fancy gardening hat. my son up until a few years ago trashed at least 2 of mine a year cause he used mine for indiana jones props.. that and my belts for whips, lol

name the last one fancy (my dog is by me, umm im not creative)

    xoexo

  • Hot Banana peppers are really good. When one has just the right amount of hottness it really adds to the flavor of the rest of a meal.

I keep trying to get the 3CoolKats to pick those beetles off of my beans but they're far too interested in th flying grasshoppers to give them a second glance.

OK, I'll name that last one Fancy! Alas poor Fancy met an untimely demise yesterday however. He was very tasty, LOL.

  • fancy is (was) a girl, lol

that big beast is on my foot right now as i type :)

& damn straight she is one tasty lady LOL

    xoexo

  • I will never understand why no place around these parts of NC sell the white half runners. I love the white half runners that is what my dad always grew in his garden.

Your tomatoes look yummy to me. I would love a big ole veggie dinner with all the stuff from your garden.

Then there are those Evil bean beetles. oh my goodness what a job to have to look the leaves for them like you do.

As always I love your garden vlogs. :)

  • Thanks Debbie!!! White Half Runners are indeed the very best tasting bean around. Here in the western part of the state they're reasonably common at farmers markets and a few roadside place that specialize in produce. It's very hard to find them at a grocery store though, and if you do, they're several days old and kinda flabbby. The tomatoes are extra yummy this year. Usually I buy rolls instead of loafbread but I buy loafbread this time of year so I can make tomato sandwiches:)))

  • Thanks for a wonderful tour of your garden!

  • Thanks Mary Ann!!!

  • Garden is looking great, you certainly will have a ton of beans. We get similar bugs here in Buffalo, I always thought they were akin to a ladybug, but now I know differently. They are very similar to what you showed.

  • If only they were good bugs like ladybugs it would be fantastic. I always look at them closely enough before squishing them to make sure they're not ladybugs.

It looks like I might have enough beans to do a canning or two. I've not done that in several years.

  • I want tomatoes...mikma was here

  • Hi there mikma!!! Haven't seen you around in a while. Grape juice and tomatoes for mikma!!!

  • OOPS, I watched out of order....Beans look like they are fending for themselves despite the beetles.

Looks like to me that you should have plenty enough tomatoes for the giant pot of soup.

You may get more mellons than you think, might be small, but I've had vines that looked similar and they still matured.

    Blessings, Ang

  • The beans in my corn are indeed doing better than I expected, given that I'm not bothering to pick the beetles off of them. I've already had one pressure cooker full of them and might get another today.

I hope you're right about the melons. I'm pretty sure the two big watermelons will ripen because the vines there didn't suffer quite as much damage. If the first few most promising of the smaller melons don't make it I *might* do a video where I run over them with my van in my driveway, LOL.

  • Quite the bumper crop of peppers there!! You could string and dry the chili peppers.

    WOW! The beans look FANTASTIC!!

Evil bean beetles!!! Looks like you're staying on top of them though!

Uneven watering can really mess with a tomato crop. Thanks for the tour! Blessings, Ang

  • I picked the beetles off of my 30 foot row yesterday. 60 beetles and 5 egg clusters was the count.

It's also a timing thing on my giant pot of soup. I really do like to put fresh okra in it but my okra is a little late this year. Hopefully my tomatoes will still be in by the time my okra is ripe.

  • Ive seen more seed clusters this year than ever before, the Mexican bean Beatles look a lot like lady bugs. Are we sure they are evil?

Great lookin maters, Ive got a lot of blight this year:-(

I love how you kept reaching for June and it just wasnt there;-)

  • YES, they are EVIL, EVIL I tell you!!!

My tomatoes get blight every single year. Years ago they used to always last until frost. They never do that anymore. But still I *almost* (I did have a total fail one year) always manage to get quite a few tomatoes off of them before they succumb to the black death.

June seemed like a pretty decent month. I'm thinking of starting a movement to bring it back one more time in 2009, LOL.

  • A great report as always. Those bells look fantastic. That put me to thinking about stuffed peppers. A shame about the melons, but thankfully you seem to have hit the jackpot in so many other areas that it balances out.

  • I could kick myself for destroying my melons like that. A lesson learned for sure. Intellectually I knew top watering wasn't good but sometimes you just gotta see the carnage your actions create in person to fully appreciate it. I'm planned on expanding my watermelon patch next season and I'll strive to not let a single drop of hose water hit a single leaf!!!

  • ITS A DICK

  • Kinda looks like one doesn't it, LOL.

  • Another fantastic garden update! You have a talent for growing veggies and recording interesting and informative videos. No wonder the Mexican bean bugs want to be part of your show! Great job!

  • Thanks George! Do you have any of the Mexican Bean Beetles up there in NY where you live? I'd be more than willing to share a a few of them if you need any!!!

  • I dont like that disabled the comments from part 1.. LOL thats a 9 min video .. I cant remember what all I wanted to say eheheh :)

  • I should probably do a survey of my viewers to see how I should work the comments on these two part videos. I have mixed thoughts about which way is best. On the one hand it's it's easier to respond to comments on just one vid instead of two and some people might find it easier to just leave a single comment. On the other hand that other vid just looks stark naked without any comments on it.

  • omg thos peppers look hot!! ooh let me at thos Bell peppers.. I love banana peppers too!!! Corns stratin to fall out... plant a sencond crop for the second half? :) EVILEVILEVIL!!! LOL hell im with you what month is is ?? I was thinkin it was 2010 the other day...... LOL

  • Hehehe, I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't even remember what month its is. I guess after you get older everything just starts to blend together. I'm not sure how much of that second crop of squash I'll be eating because when my okra is ready to harvest I'll be eating it instead of squash.

Those bell peppers are just now starting to turn orange so I'll be eating them very soon!

    And bring on 2010!!!

  • Your garden looks GREAT! I have to admit though...I had to cover my eyes during all the bug squishing. lol!

  • Thanks:) Hehehehe, I maybe should tone down the bug squishing. Your not the first person to tell me that:)

  • My mom loved hot peppers. She would put some in a jar and add olive oil to it - let it set - and then she would add a few drops of the oil on her food - that's all it took - great job on your garden.

  • I really do prefer the hot banana peppers because they have about the right amount of heat. I might try your mom's method at the end of the season just before the first frost. Yep, a few drops of that olive oil might be plenty hot! Next year I'll probably only plant Hot Banana and Bell peppers.

  • Over the last couple of days I have watched all of your gardening videos. I wanted to say well done! I've enjoyed them all, thanks for taking the time to make them.

  • Thanks tvtoms!!! Wow, that's a lot of garden video watching for sure!!! You're the first person who's said they've watched them all. I really need to organize each year of my garden vids into playlists on my channel. But supposedly YouTube is forcing everyone's channel to have a new format and I'm waiting until they force me into the new format before doing any organizational work on my channel.

  • butthole haha thats so funny b/c thats what i was thinking it looked like then you said it hehe. on the canolope they should ripe if you pick them and just let them set for a week or so. and the watermelons don't get real big i've had some the size of a canolope that were great!! but it's looking good allot better than my garden lol

  • We'll see how it goes on the cantaloupe and watermelon. I'm not going to pull any of them until the vines separate from the melons on their own. Those vines look like I've poured some sort of chemical over them. They went downhill unbelievably fast. I was watering them from the top VERY heavily because it's been so dry.

  • The beetle carnage was kinda gross but mostly cool.

    Holy crap, it IS August!!

  • You should see one of the beetle squishes I edited out. It wasn't for the faint of heart, LOL. However there it sits on my hard drive begging for a juicy occasion to be posted:)

  • Who knows, maybe it would make for a nice tag scene "bonus" of sorts in one of the next uploads.

  • your videos are well intresting well done blink dont listen to the bad comments ;)

  • Thanks Firefryer! Actually I don't think there's any bad ones on this video yet:) RobertPina up above was naming the tomato Cyrano de Bergerac and not me. Although I don't have the smallest nose in the world, LOL. Now if you want to see some really bad comments you should visit my "Windows Movie Maker Sucks" video. There's some epic ones there, LOL.

  • lol haha going to actually ;)

  • another cool vid the sad thing is we are for sure on the down hill side of summer

  • I love summer and warm weather, but part of me does like having 4 seasons. I have more time in the winter to laze around and surf the internet and make videos other than garden vids which is nice:)

  • General Cluster and the battle of Little Big Bean.. but at least all the BeanBeetles now ended up as 'has beans'.. :)

I need to go out and water my tomatoes, meant to do them today, but haven't had time..

  • It's a constant battle with those little buggers. I win every single battle but the victor in the war is always in doubt. Damn those constant reinforcements they keep sending in! And uhhm, be sure and bottom water those tomatoes, LOL.

  • Just name that last tomato, Cyrano de Bergerac.

  • Sounds good to me. I'd much rather eat a tomato name Cyrano de Bergerac than one named John Holmes or Ron Jeremy, LOL.

  • You read my mind! Great garden vlogs, as usual, Blink!

The only reason I realize that July is turned into Aug. is because I'll be 45 (!?!!)

on Thursday...not that it's much different than any other day. : ]

  • Used to be I couldn't remember what day it was. Now I can't remember what month it is. I'm *pretty* sure it's 2009 though, LOL. Early Happy Birthday greetings to you Sheri! I decided to quit having birthdays a few years ago:)))
