Cain's 9% sales tax would be a stepping stone toward the 23% Fair Tax (supported by both Cain and Paul). The rationale would be that if rates are the same for all tax payers, it is much more difficult to divide and conquer.
It is easier to raise rates on a smaller subset of taxpayers than it is to raise rates on all taxpayers. The resistance to increasing the national sales tax would come from every income group not just the top group or bottom group.
By your logic, Ron Paul is the only viable candidate. Unfortunately, his foreign policy views are wrong for America. Of the rest, Herman is best choice. Period. The federal income tax has been as high as 90%. If future congresses bastardize 999, that's NOT Cain's fault. By the way, it's intended as an emergency transition to grow the economy before transitioning to the Fair Tax, where the income tax would be dropped. I disagree about your characterization of Herman Cain. I like Herman Cain and Ron Paul both. Both believe in less government and less and efficient spending. The 999 plan has been sensationalized by the media but I believe Herman Cains appeal is simply how he handles himself. He, like Paul, answers his questions usually first with a yes or no and that's refreshing.

I am not a Herman Cain fan and I agree with most of the criticisms here. But I think the snarky tone is off-putting. That's just me. It is more convincing to provide an alternative argument or explanation rather than just saying "Really?" or "Are you kidding?".
I wish that supporters of Ron Paul were as clear-eyed in their assessment of Paul as they are of Cain. "Why does no one listen to Ron Paul? He's ALWAYS proven right in the end." He is not always right and is sometimes wrong about timing.

Cain's 9% sales tax would be a stepping stone toward the 23% Fair Tax (supported by both Cain and Paul). The rationale would be that if rates are the same for all tax payers, it is much more difficult to divide and conquer.
It is easier to raise rates on a smaller subset of taxpayers than it is to raise rates on all taxpayers. The resistance to increasing the national sales tax would come from every income group not just the top group or bottom group.

By your logic, Ron Paul is the only viable candidate. Unfortunately, his foreign policy views are wrong for America. Of the rest, Herman is best choice. Period. The federal income tax has been as high as 90%. If future congresses bastardize 999, that's NOT Cain's fault. By the way, it's intended as an emergency transition to grow the economy before transitioning to the Fair Tax, where the income tax would be dropped. I'm not a fan of the Fed either, but Paul is not going to be President.
