  • I have liked this song very much since i heard it, it has Dan Lanois writen all over it.

  • This one probably fits more comfortably into Eno's mid-80s catalogue than it does into U2's body of work. Lovely ambient drift redolent of Eno's collaborations with Harold Budd, Michael Brook, Bob Fripp and Jon Hassell.

  • U2 and Brian Eno was one of the best collaborations in music. I even thought Passengers was great!

  • This song and Love Comes Tumbling should have been on the full Unforgettable Fire LP.

  • Love this song :) And you pics/video fit the music so well! Beautiful...

  • When I think of this song or listen to it I always picture huge lifetime stress relief while drowning and looking up at the sunny sky underwater just . floating...love this song

  • U2 is a very good popular band, wich doesn't mean they are not good musicians. this song certainly proves their quality

  • Great job! Thanks so much, mate!

  • Man, I've ound some months ago, all b-sides since 1980 until 2000 in a website. With Lady with the spining head (3:54 version, NO REMIX) , Boomerang I and II, if u want i can send u this archives.

  • THIS HAS LANOIS, ENO & THE EDGE PLAYING ON IT

  • Isn't this going to be on theire Remastered Unforgettible fire?

  • Brilliant piece of music... U2's experement with chillout music lol

  • thanks a lot dude, I'm a big time u2 fan and recently I've been into instrumental and post-rock music. The extended version of this song is just awesome. Pretty neat to now that I can hear some insturmental without leaving my U2 playlist =P. Thank a lot, mate

  • LIstening to this song while viewing the beautiful slideshow makes me glad to be alive...

  • Yeah.. I'm also attached to songs from this era. :) They're more atmospheric and lighter than other records. :)

  • Love the song XD

  • This song is so beautiful... It reminds me of a peaceful, quiet tropical island, with fish swimming around the shore.

  • I haven't heard this since I last played my mini-cassette, must have been during the 80's. Now that i listen to it again, it reminds me of Ummagumma, The Narrow Way.

  • @bubbabubba20042004 got the same tape and i stil listen to it on my old walkman. the UNFORGETTABLE fire mini cassette. sounds good as new!

  • beautiful ambient music, 19,000 true U2 fans viewed this video

  • clairty

  • It's interesting to read the mental imagery people get when they hear this song. I imagine myself on a boat or floating in the water, gently bobbing up and down with the waves. "Bass Trap" has a very peaceful, calming effect. I could listen to it all day.

  • So incredibly chill.

  • Amazing song. So peaceful.

  • Such a beautiful song, as much so as over 20 years ago. I feel it to be peaceful, with a touch of yearning. I was thankful to find the single a long while ago. The video it very nicely done...thanks for posting!

  • The only bad thing about this song is that I'm never going to find the tab for it.

  • close your eyes, and listen to this great song!!

  • What it must sound like as the soul and spirit gently float up into heaven and into the arms of JESUS!

  • ....continued And the sun was shinnig nice and mild :) Along with this song and video it made my day. I was crying tears of joy. Thankyou I LOVE U2 there the BEST. Looking forward to seeing the 360 tour in Toronto where I'm from with my family & friends this summer.

  • What an incredible insrumental, so beautiful captivates my heart.Especialy pretty to listen to during the spring time.I could listen to this repeatedly over and over again and never grow tired of it or the video! Great job by the way! I love all your videos KittichanU2 , this is exceptionally beautiful thankyou for brightening up my day. It's been so dark and cold here the past several weeks in the dead of winter. Today was a different story I went for a jog which I often do ..................

  • For anyone curious, a Remastered 2-disc edition of The Unforgettable Fire was released last year, which included this in its full version on the second disc.

  • cant stop listening to this...

  • Brilliant. Very Eno

  • Maybe the most beautiful instrumental track, that I know.

  • thank you for sharing this great song and this beautiful video!

  • did Lanois play the guitar on this track? It sounds like it came from the Apollo album by Eno

  • Among of 10 of best song ever

  • I had this on an EP (The Three Sunrises / The Unforgettable Fire / A Sort of Homecoming (Live - Different Mix) / Love Comes Tumbling (Alternate Lyrics) / Bass Trap) of U2's ages ago - funnily enough like zoat77 this song also got me through 1986.

  • wow, this brings back memories, awesome.......

  • Magnificent :)))

  • Very coooool song

    But is that Wis. Dells?

If so I got that same shot

  • maybe not at 2.02

    i really like the picts

  • I wish U2 would do more instrumentals. Bass Trap, Race Against Time, and Alex Descends Into Hell For a Bottle of Milk are faves! More jangly Edge guitar, please!!

  • Thank you for posting this beautiful song! I love that you champion the "B" sides and give them their day in the sun.

  • wonderful song and wonderful video :) loveU2

  • This song got me through 1986

  • Brilliant Peice of music. Actully makes me think of "Unknown Caller" from the new album, you know, both songs remind of of a sunny day, in the park, chilling with a few cold lagers etc...

  • Beautiful, like a chorus of angels

  • this song reminds me of Christmas

1987 and of a love long lost to time...

    but not to memory....

this song evokes and awashes my mind with happy thoughts from then..

  • I have found it as well. I had an old tape released shortly after the "Unforgettable Fire" that has this original. I don't have it anymore, but I have some ancient U2 45s only available in Ireland and bought them way back when.

You're fav and thanks for the wash of memories.

  • I do LOVE this song. Amazing. Awesome. Wonderful.

  • I listen to this song when i study....

  • U2 Grandi anche nelle B-sides!

  • This is an absolute masterpeice. People go for Yoga and stuff to meditate. Is there anything better than this...NO!!! U2 saves lives :). One true band that is now a part of my life

  • i used to think this song was on the soundtrack FANDANGO with KEVIN COSTNER and JUDD NELSON but it wasnt.

  • i think you may be thinking of Pat Menthany.

  • Thanks for posting the full version of this beautiful song!

  • Beautiful track. So calm and relaxing. I love all the songs off of 'The Unforgettable Fire' album. 'A Sort Of Homecoming' is my all time favourite track. The music nowadays is pure utter shit. Thank you for the upload.

  • incredible,edge!!!!!!!!!!

  • This should have been on the Unforgettable Fire instead of 4th of July imo.

  • wow where did you get that version from? thats much longer then the b sides bonus disc version

  • on "The Unforgettable Fire" single. It was so hard to find... I was searching for ages for that but I hope they'll re-release it someday on a B-Side CD, like they are doing now with Boy, War and October.

  • A short version of Bass Trap was also on the Unforgettable Fire Mini EP (LP) along with The Three Sunrises and Love Comes Tumbling.

  • oh yeah and I always wanted the longer version. the short one is also on the Xanax and Wine CD.

  • I adore 'The Unforgettable Fire' album and when I listen to this song I imagine the sunset on the beach or top of the mountain, early spring, embraced by love of person I like :)

  • That song is so "not-U2", but it is so good to listen it. And knowing that U2 made it, make it even better.

  • beautiful. thank you

  • Hast Du die tollen Bilder dazu gemacht? Was für einen Fotoapparat hast Du?
