You're basically saying to a big part of the drummers: don't drum :)
Many drummers can't play anywhere near decent double stroke rolls, but they perform perfectly within a band, which in the end is what drumming is about most of the time.
Double stroke rolls expand your pocket and your possibilities and it's good to practice it, but saying "if you can't double stroke rolls, don't play the drums" is saying to many succesful drummers: don't play your drums. That's BS.
Double stroke roll is the absolute starting point, along with singles. If you can't play a double stroke roll, it's time to find a new hobby. period.
perfect the rebound stroke man!! I can go above 250 bps. Its all in the wrists i promise. work on freezing the stick as it bounces off the head of the drum. never press the stick onto the head the stick does all the work. and stay relaxed while you are playing. thats how i did it.
By the way, a flammed double stroke is called a cheese. Try single stroking a 13 stroke roll and cheesing every third note. It makes for a nice accented triplet grid.

Decent drummer, but for a product that he is selling, pretty poor quality. The smallest drum set with Bed sheets as a background. Come on, boost the quality + boost the sales!
what planet are you on dsagggg? are you listening to the drumming/teaching? or are you dreaming about his backdrop? if anything i like the background as its plain and lets the drums/cymbals come to life, especially with the nice lighting. stick to the content being taught and you might actually learn something.

Wow, if you can't double stroke roll, just don't play drum set. Practice regular snare.

Rebound is your best friend.
Decimaster321 3 years ago 2
no. relying on rebound is your worst enemy you have to practice and practice controlling your back fingers, especially the pinky
